History Repeats Itself- Next Gen

So I'm in love with the next generation babies and so I might've done a thing.

I thought to myself, "Wow, this could be so cute... LET'S MAKE FEELS!"

Jk what I actually thought was, "Leo and Orion both have a resemblance to Cody and KrakenKid (Though of course they're their own people you can tell that they're their kids), not to mention I added in that they're competitive with one another, so just how far does their relationship go?"

So I did a thing

Third Person
"Don't even say it." Orion's yellow eyes flashed as he stopped swimming for a moment to turn around and face Leo.

Leo sent a glare right back, brown eyes flashing blue for just a moment before turning back. "Say what?" He challenged. Leo tried to let things go when it came to Orion because he knew that if he didn't, they'd be caught in a standoff because Orion sure didn't let things go.

But right now? Feeling all the bruises start to act up as he too came to a stop and the blood drip from his cuts? He wasn't in the mood to let things go. "That you screwed up?"

Orion let out an almost growling noise. The tentacles on his lower kraken half curled up in rage. He too suffered injuries, having a cut across his cheek and his favor gray sweater was torn up in several spots to reveal injuries there too. "It's always my fault with you, isn't it? I can't do anything right with you and I'm sick of it!"

Leo marched forward until they were only mere inches away from each other and pointed accusingly. "You're the one who got into that fight! I just saved your butt before you got pummeled!"

"They called Jasper a freak!" Orion shot right back. "Nobody talks about my brother like that! Half or not, he's under my protection!"

"I get that! I really do!" Leo quickly butted in. "But physical violence was unnecessary, and you pulled your knife on them. Throwing a punch I could've lived with- supported even! They were total jerks, they deserved that!" The brown haired boy ran a hand through his hair, huffing. "But never draw your weapon. We were in the bad side of town, there were others to back him up, it just goes downhill from there."

Orion kept his narrowed gaze on Leo, never breaking it. There was a long silence until the hybrid just couldn't keep it in anymore. "And that's why you're King Daddy's favorite."

The prince bristled. "Dad's favorite? What's that supposed to mean? He doesn't have a favorite, he loves us all."

Orion let out a bitter laugh. "Loving all of his children and having a favorite are two different things, and you can certainly do both. Admit it, you're the prodigal son. All the fancy magic, all the power of being next in line, and most of all: You have his values. Dad sees himself in you, he loves you more because he trusts you more."

Orion scoffed a little and moved for home, but Leo couldn't help the festering anger within. Orion said everything like it was an insult, even if it had been said by anyone else it would've been praise. Orion was one of the few people who could get under his skin, and Leo just couldn't help it. He had to say it. He wanted to be careful, to drop it and just forget about all of it, to be the bigger man- but he just couldn't.

"Maybe... Or you're just jealous of me like you always have been."

The son of KrakenKid froze in his tracks before whipping around. Never had Leo seen so much rage in his eyes before. "What?" He spat.

"You heard me." Leo retorted. "You're jealous of me. Always have been."

"Oh really? And just what would I be 'Jealous' of?"

"Everything you just named." Leo watched his eyes, and noticed them flinch. "My fancy magic, my status and how I'm next in line for the throne and not you, how I'm the prodigal son."

Leo moved closer, subconsciously making himself appear bigger to Orion, but Orion refused to back down in any way, staying exactly where he was. "Or maybe," Leo hissed to him. "You're more scared that your other Dad, who isn't remotely related to me, prefers me over you."

"YOU TAKE THAT BACK!" Orion screeched, lunging for Leo and with so little space between them, caught him and took him to the ground before Leo could even start to move out of the way.

Both of them tumbled to the ground but Orion's tentacles from his lower half wrapped firmly around Leo, constricting his chest and making it difficult to breath. As soon as they stopped moving, Leo found himself under Orion, arms pinned down by a tentacle each and Orion's upper human half pinning down his upper chest, an arm on his neck.

Leo fully knew that he was going too far, and so wished he could back off and let Orion win this one, but there was no desire to. His pride was too strong. Fully realizing that he couldn't just wrestle him off of his body, Leo had to resort to something else. Playing dirty? Maybe, but it was all he could really do.

Concentrating, Leo did his best to reach out to the Nexus, and to his delight, it responded, making his body spark with energy and his eyes turn a bright blue. Orion yelped as it shocked him and forced him to retreat, and Leo was finally able to get up.

Facing each other, Orion drew his short sword, which was still had flecks of blood from the last fight he had, and Leo took out his cutlass. As if they planned it, they charged at each other, and let their swords strike.

Left and right, they attempted to catch the other off guard by suddenly striking for them, but they only met each other's swords, and clangs filled the otherwise silent land. Orion's eyes darted to Leo's legs and before Leo could process that he was planning something, he lashed out, using his weapon to preoccupy his arms and mind while using his many legs to attack Leo's and throw him off balance.

Leo ended up stumbling back, nearly dropping his cutlass before Orion struck, slashing across his chest and giving him a deep cut. That was finally enough to bring Leo to the ground, and disarm him.

All it took was a slight hesitation from Orion before he struck, but it would be his grave mistake. As he went for a finishing blow, Leo's instincts reacted, allowing him to snatch his weapon back up and defend himself, blindly thrusting the sword forward in hopes to keep Orion away from him.

His heart stopped when he heard it pierce flesh and a gasp follow soon after.

Leo didn't want to open his eyes. If he didn't open his eyes it wasn't real, right? But a warm liquid dripping onto his hand finally made him do so. It was then, that Leo couldn't look away.

His sword had been plunged into Orion's stomach. Orion dropped his short sword, eyes wide with shock, and stumbled back. Leo let go of his weapon and quickly rushed to his aid.

"ORION!" He cried out, feeling tears fall down his face as he caught his half brother before he fell. "I-I..." Words failed him as he hopelessly searched Orion's eyes for something to say.

The yellow eyes stared at him, blank before they eventually trailed down to his fatal wound and coughed blood. "Oh." Was all he could say, the word barely coming out as another cough followed it and his body spazumed.

"Oh Poseidon! Hang in there, buddy! You'll be fine, everything will be fine! This-" A sob escaped Leo as the pressure made his head implode on itself. "This was just an accident, okay? I didn't mean it! Any of it! I was stupid and angry and I just wanted to win an argument with you for once and I'm sorry! Your Dad loves you more than me, of course he does! You're his son and I'm-"

Leo couldn't even see anything other than a blur of purple, gray and a small amount of yellow as he tried to hold back his tears. "I'm just a failure, okay? Just some kid trying to be a prince and failing! And this magic? It's really hard to do! My Dad and cousin can do it so naturally but I have to concentrate to do it! I get headaches from it!"

A low chuckle came from Orion. "Concentrating or not, you've got some powerful stuff." His eyes locked with Leo's, and to his surprise, there was no illwill in them. "And I think we both know that no doctor can help me now. It's too late."

"It's not too late! Maybe I can-"

"Leo. Just stop." Leo abruptly shut his mouth, though his body started to shake. "I... Just let me die in peace. It's better this way."

Leo could do nothing as the light faded from his half brother's eyes.

-----------------------------------------------------

Leo let out a loud scream as his eyes flew open and all he could see was just bright blue. His body spazzed, unsure of what was going on until for one moment, he was weightless, and then he hit the floor and the blue faded.

Pain brought him back to reality as he laid there in the dark. Above him, there was a small laugh before a voice followed. "And that, Princy, is why I'm on the top bunk."

Leo slowly brought his eyes up, being drawn to the yellow, glowing eyes as they stared down at him in amusement. It took a couple moments for Leo to process it, but eventually the tears came back and Leo sobbed on the floor.

The yellow eyes flickered with confusion, then became uncomfortable. "Oh boy..." They said to themselves before finally joining him on the ground, flopping next to him. Leo felt a small pat on the back as they stuttered for words. "Hey... Champ." The voice strained, unsure of what else to say. "You... Good?"

Leo couldn't hold it in any long and quickly engulfed him into a hug and held on like if he didn't, he would just fade away. The hybrid kraken blinked, now even more perplexed than before but did his best to hug back. "Uh... Thanks? Leo, are you feeling alright?"

"Orion... I'm so sorry." He whispered.

Orion continued to stare. "For... What exactly? Were you the one who spilled coffee on my book report because if so, it's okay, I just stole somebody else's to make up for it. Nobody good, just that one jerk who I can never remember the name of."

"No, no..." Leo sniffed, finally letting go and allowing Orion to stretch his shoulders. Leo rubbed his eyes, trying to get the memory out of his head. "I'm sorry for killing you."

Orion coughed in surprise, looking down at himself before giving a skeptical look at Leo again. "I'm pretty sure I'm alive, unless I'm some sort of zombie come back to life... Am I?"

"No. I killed you in my dream."

The yellow eyes turned bored. "Really? That's what you're sorry for? I've killed you countless times in my dream, you don't seem me apologizing for it. Besides, dreams aren't real. Not to you anyways, you don't have visions or anything like that."

Leo sighed deeply, looking at the ground. "I know but... It felt real, that's all."

Silence passed between them before Orion groaned, looking around but giving in. "Well since Phoenix is a heavy sleeper and doesn't seem to be waking up, and I don't feel like getting anybody else up, I'm going to give you some advice, so listen up."

Orion faced himself direction across from Leo and placed both hands on his shoulders and stared intensely into his eyes. "I know our Dads didn't get along and that we both resemble them and all of that, but we have a sibling rivalry, not one like them. We push each other to our limits, scream and maybe even throw punches if it gets really bad, but at the end of the day, I'd do anything for you and I think you'd do anything for me. We have a system. And if I'm ever going too far, just tell me and I'll back off, mkay?"

Leo nodded. The hybrid gave him a hard pat on the back. "Great. I'm really tired so I'm going back to sleep. Try not to fall off the bed again. It's harmful to you and it always wakes me up because the bottom bunk shakes the top one. Goodnight."

Orion swam back up to the top of the bunk bed, and Leo quickly called out to him. "Orion."

"Yeah?"

"Thanks."

Orion smirked. "Yeah, no problem. Just keep your head on straight and you'll be fine. Dreams are just dreams."

Leo frowned. "But history repeats itself..."

"...Haven't you heard the full quote before? It's, 'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.' We both know what happened, and nothing's going to cause that again. Get some sleep."

Leo smiled softly. He's right. Of course he's right, he's being reasonable. "Right... Thanks again."

"Anytime." Orion mumbled as he laid back in bed and started to drift off.

Leo was up for a while, but eventually, was able to go back to bed knowing that everything would be fine. It was just a dream after all.

*************************
And that's the thing I did. I really like the "Someone has nightmare and someone else has to comfort them" and especially the, "How Do I comfort you oh crap you are crying" trope so I combined them.

Just for the record, this was just a dream. Leo has no genetic relation to KrakenKid and therefore, couldn't have inherited the "Prophetic Dreams" thing. Also for the record, Orion didn't inherit it either.

Also, the fight between Leo and Orion was an extreme case of their fighting. Normally, it's pretty low key, just glares, Little taunts and competitions and standard "Sibling Rivalry" stuff. The dream was just a nightmare of Leo's worries about it going out of control, and reflecting what Cody and KrakenKid's relationship used to be. (To them at least)

Little (Or Big) Facts I Put In That You May Or May Not Have Caught:
-Orion is very protective over everyone and especially holds his half brother, Jasper, close to his heart

-Orion uses a short sword while Leo has a cutlass

-Though Leo claims/thinks he can only use his Nexus energy through concentration, it also reacts to his fear, later shown when he wakes up and releases a bunch of it (Which is why he sees pure blue when he wakes up)

-Leo's Little Eye changing color due to anger thing also is a slight thing that happens with the Nexus, but he can't control that

-Leo has some self esteem issues which is touched briefly when he's blabbing to "Dying" Orion

-Orion is secretly afraid that Leo and his other siblings are more impressive than him and that people he holds in high regard like his Dad like them better, also signs of insecurity

-Orion and Leo have bunk beds and also share a room with Phoenix

-Phoenix is a heavy sleeper. Didn't wake up to Leo's freak out at all

-When Leo mentions that his Cousin has a better grip on the Nexus magic than him, he's referring to Jasper

-Orion calls Leo, "Princy"

Anyways, I hope you liked this because this was hecking fun! Be sure to comment what you think, or suggestions if you have them, I might do them, and goodbye!
