Anyways, I wanted to do my own little response thingy? So... Here's this!

HUGE SPOILERS FOR AN ATLANTEAN'S JOURNEY BY THE WAY LIKE A LOT

So here's the thing!

Third Person

"Leo? I'm scared." The young four year old eyes stared up as she trembled.

"I know- but it's okay! It's just the dark, Oce! Nothing is there, nothing's going to hurt you."

His sister shifted, glancing back before shrinking down. "But I can't see... What if there are monsters?"

Leo quickly engulfed his sister in his arms with a hug, staring out into the darkness. Normally, he'd be afraid too, but that wasn't what Ocea needed.

So instead, giving the best smile he could manage, he told her something. "I'll protect you from the monsters, then!"

The green eyes examined his with wonder. Leo couldn't help the pride that she actually was looking up to him. "Promise?"

"Of course. I'll do anything to protect you."

Leo's eyes opened as another restless night passed. The dream still echoed in his mind, and made his heart ache.

One day he had been home, and already he hates how he felt. Home wasn't home. Not without her. And the looks on his parents and aunts faces when he told him still haunted him.

The clock read it was early in the morning, still dark, but Leo didn't care. He wasn't going back to sleep after that. He didn't want to sleep ever again, since every single dream had been laced with his sisters voice. Good ones, bad ones, everything in between. All of it was too much.

Every single good one made him miss her, and all the bad made him hate himself for not appreciating having a sister at the time. Every single one made him weak.

He managed to make it to the throne room, keeping himself on his feet until he collapsed to the ground from grief, right in front of the Nexus.

Leo had tried to stay strong during the long journey back. Ocea's friends were all grieving and they needed someone to keep them strong. He had to when telling his parents and aunt, they had lost a lot, they needed someone to be there for them. He even did it for Rasmus, Blooper, CannibalCrab and Professor Pikalus for all of their losses.

But you could only remain so strong until you fall apart, no matter how much you want to.

So, for the first time since he had to bury his sister, Leo let it all out.

It was some sort of mix between sorrow and anger. Everything seemed to mix and he let out loud cries of pain. No physical pain hurt as much as this did. His heart was void of all positive emotions, and any that tried were swept away in the river of grief.

Leo wasn't sure how long it went on, but did know that all guards that tried to check on him had to back off and leave him alone. That's what Leo wanted: To be alone.

Then, there was something new. A feeling deep inside that was brought out, and his vision went blue. Electric blue.

His eyes shot open and finally was able to stop his cries when he noticed the energy flowing out of him, as well as the energy flowing out of the Nexus.

It finally responded.

Though shocked at first, it soon twisted into a deep anger and he roared. "NOW? AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED, NOW YOU ACTUALLY LISTEN TO ME? WHEN IT DOESN'T MATTER?"

A voice spoke in his head. "We couldn't connect before. Now, we can."

Leo scoffed, wiping his tears away. "Well whoop de doo! I can finally use my powers to protect my- oh wait- she's gone!" His whole body shook and his tears threatened to fall again.

"I know you're angry,"

"Really? What could POSSIBLY give you THAT idea? Was it the yelling, my tone, my words, or all of the above?" Leo was confused about the Nexus talking, but he didn't care. Nothing mattered. Wait, no, take that back- one thing mattered. But that's gone now.

"But I can help you."

Leo raised an eyebrow. For a moment, he wanted to listen, then he shook his head, sighing. "No. Unless you can bring her back, you can't do anything to help me."

Then, the Nexus laughed. Leo blinked as she continued. "I can do a lot better than that." Her tone was joyful for a moment, then it turned serious. "But it'll take serious sacrifice."

"Anything." Leo blurted out, taking a step forward and feeling some of the Nexus energy brush against his face. "Anything at all."

The Nexus seemed to frown, then told him everything. By the end of it, Leo's mind hadn't changed, and was only strengthened. "I'll do it."

Cody heard what sounded like screaming when he woke up. Not of terror, but something much different. It was difficult to explain, but it was like hearing someone be tortured, but emotionally. So much anger, and so much sadness. Cody wanted to cover his ears from how much feeling he was getting just from hearing it.

Cody blocked it out, finding himself unable to move when hearing it. When it finally stopped, the king still had to wait to recover, and get up.

He moved for the exit immediately at first, but then stopped at the mirror. His eyes looked like he had aged a thousand years since last night, and Cody felt like he had.

Losing his brother and then the closest person to him was devastating. At least he still had-

Then it struck Cody's heart like a knife. Leo. The screaming. Could it be? He bolted to his room, but only found it empty. His next thought was Ocea's, but upon peering inside, he wasn't there either.

Looking in the room did more to him than he thought, but just seeing it empty and void of the life it once brought... It was unbearable. Ocea's pet seahorses snuggled in her bed, losing their once speedy and joyful movement. It was like they knew.

Snapping himself out of it, thoughts of his son made him speed up his pace as he moved for the stairs. There, at the top, he stopped dead in his tracks.

Leo was floating in the air, Nexus energy surrounding him, but he looked so relax. Cody's startled gasp made him turn his head, showing off pure blue eyes, no whites or the brown, which he found himself missing more than he thought he could ever miss a color.

"Leo?" He said, uncertain if this was really his son. "What are you doing?"

Leo was mostly unresponsive, his gaze moving back to the Nexus and seemingly having a private conversation with it by the way his eyes were flickering.

Eventually, he spoke. "Look away, Dad. I don't want you to see this."

Cody's heart dropped. "What are you doing?" The words left his mouth before he could even think them. Leo only answered with silence. A sudden blast of energy erupted from the Nexus and immediately went for Leo. Cody stepped back in fear but didn't hesitate to scream.

"LEO! You're going to kill yourself with all of this energy! Your body can't handle it!" Leo did nothing. "Listen to me! Please." Not even a flicker of hesitation. Cody's eyes had tears flowing out of them now. "I already lost my brother and my niece..." He said in a low voice. "I can't lose you too. Not my son."

Finally. Leo stopped for a moment. His eyes met his father's again, seeing all the pain within them. He frowned, and spoke. "I know." He croaked, and to Cody's dismay, he turned away. "But soon you won't feel that way. You can't miss what you never had in the first place."

Cody opened his mouth to voice his confusion, but then a burst of light from the energy made everything go blue.

Leo's body felt pain when he hit the ground of the stone just outside of the palace. Groaning, he sat up and checked around.

It was morning, and everything was just so... Peaceful. No fighting, no sorrow in the air, it was just fine.

Leo shook his head, standing up and stumbled to get to the road that led to the palace. The guards were confused as he leap over the wall, and even more so when he asked what year it was. Upon being told, Leo knew it worked.

The year before he was born. He thanks them and left for the market. The day they told him was another day he recognized- the day Cody and Sam got together. His father told it so often that he knew it by heart. Down at the market, Cody bought Sam lunch and professed his love when he ordered her ice cream. She voiced the same and they officially dated.

Leo found himself looking at his parents, or rather a much younger version of them, laughing as they ate across from one another. Sam excused herself for the bathroom, and left Cody alone.

Cody began his pep talk, whispering to himself just to do it and talk to her. However, Leo slipped into the other seat, and began to talk to him.

"Cody? King Cody? So great to meet you!" He smiled and acted as surprised as he could. Though confused, Cody kept the conversation going with a friendly smile and greeting as well. "I'm Leo!" Leo shook his hand. "I don't know if he's mentioned it, but I'm actually a friend of your brother, Joe!"

Cody gave him a skeptical look. "Really? Prove it."

Leo chuckled to himself. Too easy. "Remember the lasagna incident?" Joe was always embarrassed by the time he tried to make everyone dinner, but screwed it up and gave everyone food poisoning. He rarely talked about it, but would share it with people he trusted.

Cody relaxed as soon as he said it, smiling. "You're the real deal then. Sorry, but I can't be too careful."

Leo nodded, biting his lip bit eventually blurred it out. "Yeah, but as his friend, I need to tell you what he won't."

Cody furrowed his brow and nodded for him to continue. This is it... "He's in love with Sam."

Cody's mouth hung open. His eyes darted, looking for Sam before going back to Leo. "You serious? Why didn't he tell me?"

"Because he doesn't want to stop you. He tries to let her go but it hurts him to see her with you." Leo wasn't lying now. Joe accidentally let all of the details once after a late night party, making Leo feel guilty. Cody never knew. "I'm begging you, for his sake, back off. He wants her."

Cody hesitated, but nodded. "Of course. My brother means more to me than anything."

Leo smiled sadly, already feeling himself grow weak. "Same goes for my sister."

He left the penguin alone, shuffling away from the table as Sam got back. "So, you wanted to tell me something?" Leo heard her say.

"It's nothing important." Cody insisted, letting Leo know he had done it.

He staggered away from civilization, then fell to his knees as his body was light as air. His hand was becoming transparent, his legs no longer supported him, and his heart and mind slowed.

He was starting to fade from existence.

A part of him that feared death wanted to go back and tell Cody it was all a joke and to make sure he'd exist, but a stronger part of him stayed put. A smile creeped onto his face as his life now flashed before his eyes.

"In the world where you were never born," The Nexus told him, and then showed him at the same time. "Ocea never died. KrakenKid and Blooper were tortured, but lived. Joe lived. They all lived. Herobrine was defeated. But i must warn you: If you do this and make your parents never get together, you will cease to exist."

But all Leo could remember was his promise.

"See Oce?" Tears streamed from his eyes as he smiled. His lower half was gone and it was quickly spreading. "I said I'd always protect you."

His head was no all that was left. His mind was slowly being picked apart. "I'll keep you safe until the day I die..."

—————————

Ocea gasped awake, her heart heavy and her eyes filled with tears. She let out ragged breaths, but was stopped by a voice.

"Oi! Ocea!" Her Head whipped to see Tsunami not to far from her, standing guard. Her eyebrows raised with concern and confusion. "You alright? Another nightmare?"

Ocea nodded quickly. "Leo saved me. He-"

She was cut off before she could go on. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Leo? Who the hell is Leo?"

Ocea opened her mouth, then hesitated. The memory was suddenly faded from her mind. Her eyes stared into the fire, then at all her sleeping friends. Five, six counting herself. That was all. Just them. It had always been just them.

The name was gone from her mind in a split second. "I... Don't remember much." She admitted, suddenly feeling silly for crying about nothing.

"Well, what do you remember?"

Ocea searched her memory for the name and face of Leo, but only could think of one thing. "I think he loved me. More than life itself."
