Chapter Six
Lucky for you, this is gonna be a longer chapter. My Christmas present to you. You're welcome. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!😘🎉🎊🎄🎀🎁🎈
Melissa's POV
I can't believe I've actually escaped from Nattie! For a person who's supposed to be evil, she sure is easily distracted. I easily slipped through a hole I made in the wall using a nearby saw. I reached the roof and realised I had incredibly quiet footsteps.
I jumped roof upon roof, getting as far away from Nattie and that magnificent building. I was actually quite sad to leave it but I had to go for my life. I will come back for those children though...
I jumped and jumped until I saw a beach nearby. Am I even in London still? There were no beaches in London. I had no idea where the hell I was but I was glad that nobody was following me, at least I didn't think so. I stopped at the last roof just before the beach to admire the view of the ocean. I attempted to sit down when my foot slipped and the next thing I knew, I was tumbling down to the ground, screaming.
I was ready to feel the hard, painful impact of the concrete, closing my eyes, but instead felt arms around me, a body underneath me (this is not going to be sinful so get your heads out of the gutter 😂😂).
I opened my eyes and looked down to see a pair of golden eyes. Up to this day I still don't know how they were his natural colour. He was unlike any human I have ever met. He still is.
"Oh my Gond are you ok?" He asked. I couldn't find the words. I couldn't use my mouth. I had no idea how to use them again. So I just nodded. He proceed to sit up but I was weakened by him so he had move me. I found myself staring so I quickly looked away. But I saw from the corner of my eye that he was staring and still was after I looked away. After about five minutes someone spoke. "T-thanks for um. You know. Saving me." I said, still not really remembering how to speak. I knew it was pathetic to be like this around someone but I couldn't help it. Try speaking around someone with mesmerising golden eyes. Oh right. You can't because they don't exist. Then explain how he had them.
"You're you're welcome. Anytime. Not that you would fall on me again. I mean I wouldn't mind if you fell on me again. Great I'm sounding like a creepy pervert now. Just forget I said anything."
"It's okay." I realised he was nervous, almost shy. Why though? I mean, he can't like me. Why me? I'm just a normal girl who apparently attracts kidnappers. I'm dangerous because of that. I didn't want him to be in danger...
I realised I blanked out and looked at him again. He was staring at me. What's wrong with me? I got up and was about to leave when he grabbed my hand and pulled me back down. I dropped inches away from his face. "Don't go just yet," he whispered. He leaned in and put something inside my pocket (HA! Thought he was gonna kiss her, didn't you?).
"What did you do?" I dumbly asked.
"A number. If you need me. Say it out loud. I will come." His nose brushed against mine, and like that, he was gone.
Once he left, I felt awfully lonely. And empty. Like he took half of me. Like he was my other half. I stood up from the ground and walked towards the beach. The sea water was at my feet, calling me. I was tempted to jump in, and I almost did, when I heard a rough voice call me.
"Mellie? Mellie!" There was only one person who called me that.
"Cousin Alder!" My cousin, Alder, ran towards me, arms open.
"Oh my, what are you doing here? I thought you lived in England."
"Wait, so I'm not in England at all?"
"No, you're in France."
"France?!" I pulled away from the hug and stared at her.
"Yeah, you know I live here."
"How did I get here?" I mainly asked myself.
"You tell me." Alder replied. I knew I was kidnapped, couple times. But I don't ever remember going in an airplane, or a train to get to France! I was completely confused, and I could tell Alder was confused too.
"If you don't know how you got here, then how did you?"
Should I tell her? I thought. I mean, it's good to have a trusted adult to know, even if she had just reached 20 a few months ago. But it could also put her in danger, and I don't want to lose her.
"Ummmm. I.... got.... really tired. So... mum just..... took me up and the next thing I know I'm here."
"Melissa." Uh oh. Whenever she uses my proper name I know she's talking to me seriously. "I know you're....um... lying. Just tell me what happened."
"Alright fine." I burst into tears and Alder held me. "I was just walking home and this man in a car s-said that he w-was a friend of my f - family and he would take me home but he actually kidnapped me."
"Oh Mellie..."
"Then I managed to escape before he set me on fire and I met another woman I thought I could trust but s-she just wanted to kidnap me too."
"It's okay, Mel. You are definitely safe now." I sobbed into my cousin's arms for a good 5 minutes until she broke the hug. "You should come inside with me. I'll get you something to eat and you can sleep in my bed. Sound good?"
"I don't want to be a burden..."
"Nonsense Melissa. You are family. Don't forget that, alright?" I nodded and we started walking towards the house. As we were walking. I could have sworn I saw a pair of golden eyes staring at me in an alley way.
