"What do you mean the Wastelanders headed to the mountains?!" The investigator's face was red with anger as he slammed the case files onto the desk before him, shaking the cup of now cold coffee that was sitting nearby.

"My patrols have seen their party begin to migrate Eastward from their previous location." Officer Leonheart speaks up quickly. "The original party of thirty has now since shrunk to six; I suspect these six killed off those who were against their plans."

"Any names for the six?" The invesagator asks, leaning back in his chair with arms crossed over his chest.

"I believe I have the names of all of them," Leonheart states, taking the case file from the desk and opening it before taking out six large papers. "The wasteland born are Robert Latsky, suspected age is 23, Wasteland name is Woofless; Preston Arsement, suspected age is 21, wasteland name is Frags; and Mitchell Hughes, suspected age is 21, wasteland name is Benja." As she says the names, she lays out photographs of each. "The city born are Vikram Barn, Lachlan Power, and Jerome Aceti."

"Have you alerted the families of the city born?"

"I alerted the family of Jerome Aceti, but I was unable to contact the others' families. The Barn family left for the wasteland around ten years ago, and there has been no trace of the Power family, aside from Lachlan, within the city in over a hundred years."

The investigator looks at Leonheart in surprise. "A hundred years? Then how was Lachlan born here?"

"I don't know," Leonheart admits, lowering her gaze to her feet.

"We'll have to ask him once he's detained, but right now I need you to focus on making sure those men don't interact with the people on the other side of those mountains! If those people find out about us, every last one of us will be killed!"

"Why would they want to kill us?" Leonheart asks curiously. "What did we do?"

"It's not what we did, but who we are," the investigator states, standing up and walking over to his window that looked over the desert city.

"I don't understand, Sir."

"You'll understand soon enough, Officer Leonheart."
