Jungkook came home after a grinding day on the field. His whole body felt like jello but he was happy with how things were going. The boys were in great form and he was hoping for a good season. If all went well, he was definitely bringing home the trophy this year.
As he entered the code and opened the door, soft notes of jazz music greeted him. The house was warm and drenched in soft light of the setting sun. He felt a moment of utter peace and sighed. He considered himself lucky to be able to experience something as beautiful as this very moment.
"Hey!" Tae called from the recliner he was sprawled out on. "You're home early." He said without looking away from the phone he was browsing.
Jungkook gave a half nod "I told you I would be." He shrugged and headed to his room.
"Didn't think your boyfriend would let you off so early." Tae muttered under his breath.
"What?" Jungkook asked.
"We need to talk." Tae reminded him loudly, avoiding what he had said earlier. It was none of his business, no matter how curious or concerned he was about it.
"Yeah, I remember. I'll be back in a few. I need a shower." Jungkook walked inside.
"Don't take too long."
"Why don't you come help me with it then." He smirked walking back out.
"You wish, Bugs" Tae drawled lazily.
"Ah!" Jungkook dramatically clutched his heart. "We're back to nicknames now, are we?"
"Well, we are married, might as well" Tae shrugged.
"What??!!" Jungkook was genuinely shocked this time.
Tae chuckled, it was so easy to fluster him.
He had spent most of the day thinking about how he should proceed and Hobi had advised him that he needed to call a truce, 'You catch more flies with honey, Tae' he had said and Tae knew he was right. He needed to talk to Jungkook about the sessions and wanted the younger to be fully on board with the plan he had in mind. So even if he had to pretend to flirt or play nice for a while, he would.
"Well, you have been freely announcing it to the world, haven't you?" Tae raised a brow and watched as Jungkook dropped his gaze in shame.
"I'm really sorry about that.... She just..." Jungkook looked at him pleadingly.
"Was a total bitch to you?" Taehyung asked and then smiled. "Kate is a whole new level of bitch, I know, but she gives a great head." He shrugged.
Jungkook grimaced.
"Hey, don't judge me. I was single and she was willing. Anyway, you should go have that shower now buddy, you stink." Tae turned away, lying back down on the lounger and closing his eyes.
Jungkook stood there with his mouth hanging open.
That's it?
He was expecting the world to crash on his head for revealing the secret like he did. He was expecting to be subjected to the renowned "Wrath of the Mighty Tiger" that he had heard so much about. His teammates described his temper so vividly that he had been panicking about it since the moment he closed the door behind her yesterday and then.... this? What even?
"You're staring again, Jeon. Your breathing is so loud, it's annoying." Tae grumbled.
And we're back.
Jungkook shook his head. The man was giving him a whiplash. He trudged the way to his bathroom and turned on the shower.
Tae heard the shower turn on and sighed. When the bunny stared at him like that, he could feel heat pool deep down low. It was disturbing how much he liked it. Just this morning he had fought the urge to kiss him and it felt like he was always fighting an uphill battle. The way his jersey clung to every crevice of his perfect abs made Taehyung's mouth water.
He shook his head to rid himself of that image in his mind.
Not gay, not gay, I am not gay. He sighed again, he needed to stay focused. He slapped both his cheeks lightly, trying to stop his mind from conjuring the most explicit images.
What was it about this guy?
A few minutes later, Jungkook walked back out wearing his old sweats, with a towel hanging loose around strong shoulders, his dark, wet hair dripping as he shook it and rubbed it with the towel.
Taehyung looked up at him from the corner of his eye.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" Jungkook asked, settling into the single sofa chair next to the lounger.
Taehyung sat up, swung his feet off the lounger and on to the ground, he looked at Jungkook with a serious expression.
Here goes everything.
"We will be starting our counselling sessions from Monday." Tae started.
Jungkook leant forward listening intently, this brought their faces close to each other's and Tae lost his train of thought. All his attention snapped to the beautiful male in front of him. So close, a hint of that delectable flowery sweet scent with deep amber tones hit him with full force.
Woah! He smells amazing! Tae thought miserably, so much for staying focused.
Jungkook raised one brow at him.
Had he said that out loud? He froze for a moment before deciding he probably hadn't.
Tae cleared his throat and leaned back a bit, putting a much needed distance between them.
"I don't want to go in like a headless chicken and shit all over the place. We need to present a united front, getting my drift?" He rambled quickly.
Jungkook shook his head and Tae sighed.
"We need to show them that we are set on our decision." Tae said slowly.
Jungkook still looked lost.
"Divorce, Jeon. We are married against our will, remember?" Taehyung goaded him.
Jungkook's eyes widened slightly, of course he remembered, what kind of fool did he take him for?
Slightly miffed, he frowned. "I know that. Obviously." He replied, sarcasm dripping off of every syllable. "What I don't understand, is the united front you are speaking of."
Taehyung looked at his annoyed face and quickly backtracked. The sudden closeness had thrown him off and caused him to lash out in defence. He needed to make amends, fast.
"I don't want there to be any confusion or any scope for a reconciliation. You see, if we seem like we are fighting or bickering, it can be misconstrued as passion. We need to keep a neutral position over every exercise they might try. Also, we need to be adamant about the fact that this was a silly drunken mistake for both of us and that we want out." Tae clarified.
Jungkook's mouth twisted as he tongued his lip piercing from inside but he remained silent. A small furrow in his brows as he thought about what Taehyung was saying.
The glint of the ring on his lip was extremely distracting to Taehyung, so was the little peek of his pink tongue that showed when he played with the lip ring. And the little beauty spot under his lip, dear God the spot.
Help! He swallowed. Why was he having so much trouble keeping his thoughts clean these days? Not like he was some hormone-crazed teenager who had never had sex. Was it because it's a guy? No! No! Not going there... he tried to bring his mind back under control.
Jungkook looked up at him "Why would they believe us? You filed without my consent, didn't you? Why would they suddenly believe I was okay with the.... the d-divorce?" He hesitated. It was still hard for him to think of it, signing away the only thing that was tying him to the love of his life. He wanted to put it off for as long as he could.
"Look, I don't know what your reasons were at the time. We were both obviously pissed off and I don't know you well enough to know whether or not you are after my money." Tae said.
Jungkook's jaw clenched in response to the comment.
Tae didn't seem to notice "Apart from these two things I don't really see any other reason why you wouldn't want to go through with the divorce."
How could a person be so blind?
He really didn't see it?
Every single person who had seen the way Jungkook looked at Tae knew it. Because no matter how well his actions, words and even his thoughts were concealed, his eyes always gave it away. He couldn't hide the love that shone through them.
Jungkook looked at him again. Will he ever understand? He wondered silently.
Taehyung shuffled uncomfortably in his seat "You're staring again, Jeon."
Jungkook looked away, a faint flush covering his cheeks.
"We may hate each other for real, we may hold grudges in private, but there, during the sessions, you and me, we need to present a united front and say it was a mistake without hesitation, that we are friends who made a mistake and want out." Tae said quietly.
Hate each other?
Grudges?
Mistake?
Every single word sliced through Jungkook. He didn't hate him, he couldn't. He wasn't holding any grudges either though he had every right to after the way Taehyung had treated him since. Yet it pained him to know that Tae felt this way.
He still hates me.
The thought sent a painful shock through his chest and his mouth thinned into a stiff line.
Sensing that he had probably offended the younger, Taehyung tried again.
"We need to do this, Jeon. It will make things easier all around." He said softly.
Jungkook thought for a moment. If this was what Taehyung wanted, he would do it, of course he would. He wouldn't deny the older anything, because that is what love did to you, it made you stupid and self-sacrificing.
But of all things that Jungkook was, stupid wasn't one of them. So, if he were to do what the older wanted, it didn't have to mean that he couldn't get a few benefits out of it for himself. He looked back at Tae who was watching him like a hawk, then he smiled, a small sly smile, confusing the older.
"Fine. Let's say we do this. What's in it for me?" Jungkook asked.
Tae frowned "In it for you?"
"Yeah, you know." He shrugged. "How does it benefit me in any way?"
"Benefit you?" Tae asked again and Jungkook nodded. "Apart from making life easier in general and getting a amicable divorce when the time comes, you mean?"
Taehyung asked sarcastically.
"Well, you are forgetting that I didn't want to get divorced in the first place." Jungkook smiled innocently.
Tae clenched his fists "What do you want?" He bit out.
"Don't worry. It's nothing too bad, just a tiny little favour. And in exchange, I will give you what you want. I will be perfectly complacent. I'll say what you want me to say and nothing else, you can even give me a script. I will even sign the papers when the year is up, without any trouble." Jungkook sat back in his chair and crossed his legs, a smile still playing on his lips. "I will do whatever you want."
Tae gave him the death glare. "What favour?"
"You have to come with me... to meet my family." Jungkook smiled.
He had told his parents about getting married in Vegas because he was worried they would find out somehow and then be mad at him. But he hadn't told them the hows and the whys. Neither had he informed them about the divorce. For his parents, their son had finally found the love of his life and married him. They were dying to meet them.
Taehyung waited for him to continue. That wasn't too bad, he thought. He could put up with meeting his parents for a dinner or something.
He shrugged.
"My full family." Jungkook clarified.
Tae frowned "Full family?"
"Uhm..... yeah. My full family." Jungkook bit his lip. He had been wondering how to convince Taehyung to go to meet the 20 plus people that made up his family. His full family.
"Okay fine, whatever. We can have dinner sometime. It's not a big deal." Tae rolled his eyes, the way the boy was talking, made him think of something extremely uncomfortable and painful but a family dinner was something he could live through. It would be like joining a friend for a family dinner, easy. He had been to countless of those with Jimin, so he wasn't too worried.
"Not dinner. A vacation, an annual family vacation." Jungkook grinned, a guilty blush tinting his ears red.
Tae stared at him unamused.
"You have to join me for an annual family vacation, for two whole weeks, with my entire family." Jungkook said.
Tae's eyes widened. Two fucking weeks? He'd had to be joking. Right?
Right?
Why would Jungkook want to bring a friend to a family vacation? Was that normal? Family dinners maybe, but two week long vacations? Wouldn't that be weird?
He was about to ask him that but Jungkook looked like he was holding something important back and Taehyung could feel his palms start to sweat.
It couldn't get any worse, could it?
"You'll be going as my loving, doting... lawfully wedded... husband."
