COLOR KISS
friends to lovers, futuristic, sci-fi, slice of life, youthful love
Colorful lights and loud music filled Taehyung's senses as he stood behind the bar elevated on a platform that oversaw the dense crowd of dancers. After folding the sleeves of his black, sheer shirt, Taehyung selected several bottles from the bar's storage before commencing to creating a glowing, blue cocktail. Setting the cocktail on the bar, Taehyung nodded at the girl with pink hair as she took her drink. Shooting the golden-haired bartender a smile dripping with drunken honey, Taehyung's customer lifted her drink in a small cheers before sauntering off to re-join her group of friends.
The blue and white glitter that was painted on the right side of Taehyung's neck shimmered beneath the colorful lights that shot through the air of the club. Each bartender at Club Manik was dressed in all-black uniforms, but what really set them apart from the customers at Manik was the glitter painted on the right side of their necks and chests. Taehyung had been working at Club Manik for two years since he began studying at Daeshin University at the age of eighteen.
With two years under his belt, Taehyung had become a favorite for the regulars that frequented Manik. His impeccable skills as well as his beautiful yet handsome visuals aided him in catching the eye of many a VIP customer at Manik. Now a favorite, Taehyung had been requested to work more and more shifts. He did not mind the extra shifts. In fact, it helped him to pay his rent on time. However, he was saddened by the fact that he would no longer be able to join his friends on their galavants through the city after a long day of classes.
Taehyung had always enjoyed joining his friends in cruising through the city as it was his way of distressing and, well...he got to see him. The 'him' whom Taehyung was so eager to see each night was none other than the son of the chairman of Jeon Conglomerate, Jeon Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook was a business major, and since Taehyung was studying fine arts with an emphasis in sculpture, he rarely got to see Jungkook — when they were not having fun with their other five friends — as their classes were on opposing sides of campus.
Taehyung had met Jungkook through his friend, Park Jimin, who was part of the original friend group. Jungkook had also been brought into the friend group through his friend and fellow business major, Min Yoongi. If not for his good friend, Jimin, Taehyung would never had met the man who was currently on his mind while he made a Blue Fashioned cocktail.
Uhhhh, Kim Taehyung! If only you were not so poor! You could be with them right now instead of standing here making drinks. You could be flying through the city with Jeon Jungkook... Taehyung huffed a breath after successfully delivering the blue drink to his customer. With no other customers waiting to place an order, Taehyung quickly poured himself a glass of water and enjoyed the short reprieve from his demanding job.
His break was shortly lived, however, as six new customers had just arrived and were on the search for the golden-haired bartender. "Oh ho, Kim Taehyung! Slacking on the job I see!" A deep but hyper voice sounded behind Taehyung as the six customers approached the bar.
Recognizing the voice, Taehyung quickly turned around and smiled at his friends. "Hoseok Hyung!" Seeing his friends quickly lit Taehyung's exhausted expression, and he quickly began making their favorite drinks.
"No need to make us drinks, Taehyung," Kim Seokjin, son to the chairman of Kim Enterprises, said when he saw Taehyung grab six glasses.
"Eh?" Taehyung sounded as he looked up. "What do you mean, Jin Hyung?"
"We have come to collect you," Jimin said cheerfully with a smirk as he leaned his arm on the sleek, black bar.
Taehyung's boxy smile faded slightly as he wished he could join his friends on their adventures through the city. "Aw, Hyung, I wish I could join, but I have to w-"
"Not a worry!" Kim Namjoon, rising CEO of one of the many branches of Kim Enterprises and finance to Kim Seokjin, proudly stated as he shot Taehyung a dimpled smile. "The rest of your shift will be covered by our lovely Miss Angela," Namjoon informed as he gestured to one of Taehyung's co-workers who had just arrived at work.
Angela waved at Taehyung as she walked around the bar and began preparing to take over his shift. Looking from Angela to his six friends, Taehyung smiled brightly before bowing his head in thanks. As sons of prominent figures in the city of Daeshin, Taehyung's friends were easily able to persuade Taehyung's boss to call in someone to cover his shift.
"What are you waiting for? Let's go!" Jimin chirped and motioned for Taehyung to follow them.
Excited to join his friends, Taehyung quickly walked around the long bar and joined the six in making their way out of the club. He was so excited that he completely forgot to grab his jacket that was left hanging in the employee break room. Once out of the club, the chilled wind swept over Taehyung's body and seeped right through his sheer shirt, reminding Taehyung that winter was quickly setting in.
However, the chill did not last long as a warmed jacket was quickly set over Taehyung's shoulders. Looking up in surprise, Taehyung's eyes widened when he saw Jeon Jungkook standing in front of him. Jungkook had remained quiet as the six collected Taehyung from the club, but he nervously cleared his throat and said, "You...you forgot your jacket," as Taehyung looked up at him.
"Thanks." Taehyung's voice was soft and quiet as he dipped his head in gratitude to the raven-haired. Heat rushed to Taehyung's cheeks as Jungkook continued to look down at him. "Is...is there something on my face?" Taehyung eventually voiced when Jungkook did not avert his gaze.
"Huh?" Taehyung's question seemed to have caught Jungkook off-guard as the raven-haired shook his head slightly as if he was coming out of a daze. It took Jungkook a moment to process what he had just heard before finally answering, "Er, no...sorry."
"Come on, slow pokes!" The call from Jimin brought Jungkook and Taehyung from their conversation and caused them to hurry after their five other friends.
Taking Yoongi's outstretched hand, Jimin got into the hovercraft waiting for the seven just outside the club and pecked his boyfriend on the cheek before waving for the two stragglers to hurry up. With Namjoon at the control center and Jin beside him, Yoongi, Jimin, and Hoseok filled up the right side of the craft, leaving the left side for Jungkook and Taehyung who had just reached the hovercraft.
"So, where are we going?" Taehyung inquired of his hyungs as he and Jungkook boarded the craft.
After making sure everyone was safely in, Namjoon eased the hovercraft into the air as Jimin answered, "Somewhere in particular," while giving a side-eye to the raven-haired sitting beside Taehyung.
"Somewhere? In particular?" Taehyung pondered aloud with scrunched brows. What does that mean?
"Jungkookie wanted to show you something." Hoseok's voice caused Taehyung to look up at his hyung with frosty hair that had been cut short.
Taehyung turned toward Jungkook bashfully as he heard Hoseok's statement. Jungkook wanted to show me something? Heat involuntarily rushed to Taehyung's cheeks as Hoseok added, "Jungkook was the reason we came to collect you. He said there was something you just had to see tonight."
"Eh? What-what is it?" Taehyung asked as he looked up at the man sitting beside him.
Feeling his friend's bashful gaze turned to him, Jungkook tried his best to keep his racing heart steady as he glared at Hoseok embarrassingly. "Thanks for ruining the surprise, Hyung."
Hoseok shrugged his shoulders in response as if to say 'Well, the secret's out now. Whatcha going to do about it?'
Realizing that it was supposed to be kept secret, Taehyung decided to not push Jungkook as to what the surprise was and, instead, was content to let things flow naturally. The ride through the city was short but exciting. Taehyung loved the stare out of the hovercraft's large windows and watch the dense, colorful city fly by. And his excitement only strengthened when Namjoon set the craft on the roof of one of the tallest skyscrapers in the city.
After exiting the hovercraft, the seven friends spilled onto the roof and gazed in awe at the bustling city below. "Wahhhh," Taehyung breathed in wonder as he looked at the colorful expanse surrounding them. "It's so beautiful."
The seven stuck close to each other as they all walked to the edge of the roof and leaned against the railing, waiting for the surprise to begin. Namjoon walked behind Jungkook and placed his hand on the raven-haired's shoulder as he whispered, "Five minutes." Nodding to his hyung in thanks as Namjoon passed by, Jungkook then returned to admiring the city and Taehyung's bright smile as he swiveled his head every which way.
When there were two minutes until the surprise, Jungkook took Taehyung's hand and led him away from the group. The other five watched with small smiles as Jungkook led Taehyung to the opposite side of the roof. After making sure the two had safely made it to the other edge, the five returned to admiring the city as Jungkook breathed in deeply to prepare himself for the next ten minutes.
"Taehyung..." Jungkook began when he and the golden-haired reached the opposing side of the roof.
Taehyung, whose face had completely reddened, looked up at the raven-haired with wide eyes and a racing heart. It's just Jungkook and I. Is there something he wants to tell me? Is everything okay? Taehyung's heart sped nervously as he pondered why Jungkook had led him away from the group.
"I..." Jungkook clenched his jaw as he stepped closer to Taehyung and leaned down to be but a breath away. Taehyung's heart had just about stopped when he felt the softness of Jungkook's breath. "I like you."
Taehyung stared up at Jungkook with wide eyes and a still heart. Jungkook...likes me?? Oh my god, is this really happening?! Taking a second to absorb everything in that moment, Taehyung gazed up at Jungkook intently. His eyes flowed from the dark strands of hair that hung down from Jungkook's styled hair to his dark orbs and then to his soft lips and the small mole just beneath them. Everything in this moment was perfect. Jungkook's gaze held so much emotion and adoration, and so did Taehyung's.
Excitement filled Taehyung as his lips formed into his bright, boxy smile and he happily responded, "I like you, too, Jungkook."
It was not until a loud pop sounded just beside them that Taehyung began to breathe again. However, his breath was immediately stolen again as Jungkook cradled his neck and leaned down. Taehyung's heart began to race once more as Jungkook pressed his lips on Taehyung's in a sweet kiss. Closing his eyes, Taehyung enjoyed this special moment and allowed Jungkook to kiss however he liked.
Jungkook's lips were soft, and his kiss was gentle. However, his kiss had an intense affect on Taehyung, and he found himself reaching up and laying his arms on Jungkook's strong shoulders. Feeling Taehyung's arms folding behind his neck, Jungkook let his hand flow down to Taehyung's waist, and he brought the golden-haired closer to him as he deepened the kiss.
Taehyung's head swooned as Jungkook's hand slid into his hair, and he felt high with love and excitement. This moment was everything. He had liked Jungkook since the moment he saw him, but never did he think he would be in his arms sharing something so special on such a beautiful night atop a skyscraper in the city.
Sensing the kiss grow more ardent, Taehyung opened his lips and let Jungkook taste his mouth. As the two shared the special moment and loving kiss, the sky behind them exploded with color. Fireworks filled the night as Jungkook and Taehyung confessed their feelings and allowed their hearts to touch in a sweet, colorful kiss.
