Taehyung's P.O.V.

Jungkook was back again.

After a couple of days of looking out for the brown haired boy, I had given up. I had also discovered that I had the patience ranging in a teaspoon. Which is to say, none.

But he had finally returned today.

I watched as he slumped down against the oak tree we always sat under. Two rabbits approached him. One was hesitant, hopping forward nervously while the other went straight towards him. Jungkook picked them up and placed them on his lap, stroking them.

Jungkook was a shape shifter. A metamorph. He could talk to animals but he had not yet tried shifting into one.

I'm a dryad - a rare smeraldo tree one. I can go out of my tree but if it is injured, then so am I. Quite a few times, while I was sitting with Jungkook, some wild cat or bear had scratched the bark.

Jungkook's usually calm and shy but those few times, he was a whole new person altogether. His black eyes had blazed and he'd actually hurt the animals for the first time in his life. And then he returned to his usual worrying, overprotective nature.

We had met a couple of years ago. Jungkook used to come to the clearing near my tree and sit there, playing with animals, while I watched him. Then one day, I was out of my tree and sitting near the lake at night when he had approached me. We got to know each other and became best friends.

But even after two years, there's something I know he refuses to tell me.

As I looked at him, contemplating how to surprise him, I felt my leaves rustle. "Well this is nice," I muttered to myself. My eyes fell on two glowing yellow ones among the bushes.

I jumped out instinctively, creating a wall of thorns to erupt from the ground.

The cougar growled and shied away immediately. It darted back and disappeared in the foliage. Jungkook leapt up, his charcoal eyes widened. When I realized the predator had given up and retreated, I turned around to face him.

"Well well," my lips pressed into a thin line. And then I jumped forwards and hugged him.

Jungkook's P.O.V.

Even the simple action of getting up caused another wave of pain to overcome me. I ignored it, pushing away the spike of pain that went up me. Instead I hugged Taehyung back. He suddenly pulled back, green eyes flashing dangerously.

"Where were you?" he snapped, seeming more hurt than angry. "Tae, I'm so sorry, it was some work at home," I apologized, making my best sad eyes.

He pulled me back into a hug but I couldn't hold back the whimper that left me. Taehyung pulled back again. His eyes narrowed menacingly. My mind rushed to think up some excuse, "U-uh -,"

"You're hurt." It wasn't a question. It was a statement; something that I couldn't argue against.

Taehyung pushed me down gently. "I-I'm not, Taehyung, I swear. I was just... I was just surprised", I said.

And then an assuring hiss escaped me as I felt another stab of pain.

Taehyung studied me for a while before speaking, "Open your jacket, Kook." I shook my head violently. He sighed before leaning down and unzipping it, tying my hands behind me with a soft vine. It didn't hurt at all.

"Sometimes I hate your powers you know", I said and pulled against the hold. Taehyung struggled with the zip. "What the -", he said as he managed to open the jacket, only to find another full-sleeved shirt.

"It's summer Koo, the heck you wearing all this for?" he groaned.

"I just am. Now if you could kindly stop stripping me naked." Taehyung's cheeks dusted an adorable green and he murmured, "Shut up."

I cooed. He made me sit up before pulling the shirt over me. I cursed.

"J-Jungkook," he whispered, his eyes widened. "Tae, please I can explain -"

"Who did this?" he asked, his voice barely audible as he stared at the bruises and cuts littering my pale skin. "I-It's nothing Taehyung, I got hurt while p-playing. I fell down", I explained, cursing myself for lying to one of the only person I loved.

"Don't lie to me," he whispered, an edge to his voice. Everything got darker as the trees bent to fuse together, creating a shade over us. His green eyes danced with a burning fire as I saw vines and creepers emerge from the ground.

"I'm saying it again, Jungkook. Who. Did. This," he repeated, oddly calm.

I bent my head, looking down. "M-My dad," I whispered, fighting back tears.

Taehyung's P.O.V

Rage surged through me as those two words left his lips. "Since when has this been going on," I asked with as much peace as I could muster. "S-Some time now," he whimpered, tears threatening to spill out of his eyes.

"Hey, don't cry. Please don't - why're you crying Koo?" I spoke softly as the anger was replaced with sadness.

I tugged at Jungkook, pulling him onto my lap. Hesitantly, I kissed the top of his head. "I-I'm sorry I didn't tell y-you I didn't want you to be worried or - or displeased that I can't e-even protect myself-"

"I would never", I said firmly.

"Now we have some work to get to. Where do you live, Jungkookie?" When he didn't answer I made a leaf tickle his chin and he giggled. "Now now, be a good boy or I'll make the plants tell me Kook," I pressed.

"But why?" he asked, doe eyes at its maximum capacity. "Some people need to be taught a lesson, darling. Now go on", I pressed.

Jungkook's P.O.V. (I know its changing a lot, bear with me (ΰ²₯ ΝœΚ–ΰ²₯))

I pointed toward the worn out path I knew so well. Taehyung got up and said, "Well let's go then." He then proceeded to try and pick me up. He failed miserably. "Y-You too he-heavy", he huffed, clutching on to my biceps.

"Why're you so muscled. This isn't fair", he pouted. I felt myself go back to normal, instead of all childish and baby-like, as I chuckled and stood up.

Taehyung marched ahead as I followed hesitantly. After a while of me giving messed up directions purposely, he gave up and went the right way, led by plants. Or so he claimed.

How do plants even give directions?

Did this whole forest spy on me when I came here?

I felt more and more terrified as we approached the hell I called my house. Suddenly sunlight struck me, making me squint, irritated after being in the cool shade of the trees. "Taehyung-ah we don't have to do this. What're you gonna do anyways?", I groaned.

"Teach 'em a lesson", he repeated.

I sighed as he disappeared and reappeared in front my the door, kicking it open. Perks of being able to get into any plant - even grass - and getting out of some other grass blade.

The first time I saw it I freaked out bad and nearly died of a heart attack.

"Here we go," I thought as I shivered in fear. My dad was home, sitting against a wall, passed out as usual. My mom was lying on the sofa, trying to ease her wounds given to her by her own husband.

She was an air nymph, an aura, the only one who knew about Taehyung except me. She had protected me countless times, getting hurt by my sperm donor.

"Hello there", Taehyung said sweetly. My mother sat up, wincing in pain while my dad jumped. He staggered up, letting an alcohol bottle fall to the ground from his lap.

"Who'ze you", he slurred and brought a fist up to hit him. I may have gotten hurt by him many times but I wasn't gonna stand and watch as he beat up Taehyung.

Before I got the chance to defend Taehyung, a thorny vine shot up, tightening itself around his hand. He cried out in pain as blood shot out. "You've been hurting Jungkookie, haven't you?", Taehyung said calmly.

"That's none of your business", he said, moving way too fast for a drunk man who should have got alcohol poisoning years ago. He kicked him in the gut, making Taehyung sink down.

And then I saw red.

Taehyung's P.O.V.

I flinched as I fell down, Jungkook's father having kicked me rather hard. I tried to get up but before that I heard a low growl and a flash later, a huge black wolf stood in Jungkook's place. The wolf pounced on the man and dug his claws into him. White blinded the place and Jungkook was back, his black eyes red.

Sensing her husband's weakness, Jungkook's mom lifted him up into the air, controlling the wind. She was weak and looked at me, telling me to do something silently. I understood, giving her a nod. Focusing, I made thick thorns rise from the ground, piercing the man's skin.

He fought back, trying to use his pyrokinesis, but in his drunken state he was useless. Fire flickered before dying down.

It was rather easy to wrap the spiky vines around him and in no time, he was pinned to the ground, against the floor, covered in thorns. "A-Are we g-g-going to - are we going to leave h-him to die?", Mrs. Jeon asked, trembling.

Jungkook was still in shock. He turned to his mother first, hugging her.

"Are you alright?" he asked, brushing the hair from her face. She took in a deep, shaky breath and nodded. His mother's blue eyes cleared, and she somehow looked stronger.

"Thank you." Her eyes flickered to me and a smile tugged at her lips.

Jungkook looked at me and immediately seemed guilty. He hugged me, squeezing me as tears rolled down his cheeks. "T-Thank you, Tae. I'm sorry - I - this was because of your help. Thank you thank you thank you so much", he chanted, his voice muffled by burying his face in my shoulder.

"I'm sorry about that Mrs. Jeon, I can do whatever you would like. To your - uh, to your husband," I spoke to his mother as Jungkook clung on to me, sobbing with joy. I wanted to hug him and wipe his tears away but I knew addressing his mother first was the right thing to do.

"N-No", she shook her head. "Its just that - h-he wasn't a-always like this", she said softly, probably remembering the man she fell in love with. "I'm truly sorry he turned out like this ma'am", I said in a kind tone.

"No no, don't call me Mrs. Jeon or that, Areum will suffice", she smiled and looked at us, "Or maybe 'Mom'?"

"MOM!", Jungkook let out loudly, a flush creeping up his neck. He pulled away, wiping his face furiously and laughed in spite of himself.

"What? You can't deny you both look like and are a couple", she defended. "N- uh - I - w-what", I stuttered like an idiot. I knew that my face was fully tinted chlorophyll green at this point.

Jungkook looked at me and then away, darting his tongue over his lips. "W-We're not. He -", he said weakly, stepping back.

1 week later

Author's POV

Jeon Areum was right as always.

Her son and Taehyung become boyfriends after exactly 7 days and 5 hours. Jungkook turned even more protective of the older after that, growling at anyone who tried to touch him. Taehyung found that amusing, exasperating and cute at the same time.

Jungkook's main animal was the wolf that had jumped out the first time to save Taehyung. After getting rid of his abusive dad, they had spent every day trying to get him transform into any animal. One time, he shifted into a dragon by mistake when Taehyung's cousin, Park Jimin, a nature fairy had hugged him.

That was... chaotic.

They also discovered that Jungkook was bipolar. Which explained the turning soft, shy and a fluffball all of a sudden. That was rather fun for Taehyung as he got to see his boyfriend's different side. Although, he wouldn't lie he did like the dominant fuck side of him. But changes are nice I guess.

All in all, they were happy and content. And they wouldn't have it any other way.
