Taehyung sighed as Jungkook plopped himself down next to his best friend on the sofa, his iPad in hand. He rubbed his temple, groaning.

"God, Jungkook, not again," Taehyung said in exasperation. "Yes Taehyung, yes again," the other responded without missing a beat.

"I don't wanna meet all these random people you come up with on that stupid dating site. So STOP trying to be my matchmaker," he whined as he threw up his hands in chagrin.
"You're 21 man, you gotta start meeting up with chicks." Taehyung winced at the word, scrunching up his nose.

"But-".

"No buts, your love life is below level zero so I'm trying to help here."

Taehyung sighed again, knowing it was impossible to change his best friend's mind once it was set on something. Jungkook's gaze softened. "Tae, I know this is gonna be good for you. It'll take some time cause your personality is hard to live up to but give it some time, okay? I'm sure in a few months, you'll have a girlfriend and then you'll be thanking me."

Jungkook was indeed trying to help Taehyung but it came at a cost. A huge one and a personal one at that. You see, Jungkook had a crush on his best friend since he was 15, but he was too scared to confess because he was sure he would be rejected. He thought it was wrong to be gay and that too for his best friend. Hell, he was disgusted with himself. All his life, he'd grown up knowing that if you didn't like the opposite gender, there was something seriously wrong with you. And so he kept his feelings hidden.

In order to get over him, he decided to set up blind dates for Taehyung so that he could get a girlfriend.ย

The only thing Jungkook wanted was for Taehyung to be happy and if he got hurt in the way, then so be it.

Taehyung got up, defeated, took the iPad from Jungkook wearily and scrolled through the names and their descriptions without even reading any of them. In the end, Jungkook stood up, snatched it back and said, "You know what never mind. I'll find one for you myself."

"You do that Kook, you do that," his best friend replied and fell back onto the sofa. There was a pause, punctuated by the sound of Jungkook tapping on the screen furiously.

"C'mere I wanna cuddle Kookie," Taehyung said in a muffled voice as he curled up. As always when he heard the nickname, Jungkook's heart skipped a beat but nevertheless, he sat down hesitantly. Taehyung immediately latched himself onto Jungkook and nuzzled into his neck. The other put his arm around Taehyung's slim waist casually and did his best to calm his erratically beating heart.

This was nothing new to them because Taehyung was always touchy which did nothing to help the other boy.

As he scrolled through, Taehyung said, "Kook that last girl you picked out was so snobby. Don't get someone like her, promise?" and held out his thin pinkie finger. Jungkook sighed, "That wasn't me - Jimin chose her."

Suddenly an idea struck him. "H-hey Tae?" he hummed. "I-I'm saying that, I mean you never actually.... you know -," he stuttered nervously.

Taehyung sat up and put a finger on the other's lips. "Why so tense Kookie it's just me," he asked. Jungkook got even more skittish. His right leg was jumping up and down at a terrific speed and his heart was racing. At last he blurted out, "Imeanyouneveractuallytoldmeyoursexualit-" Taehyung giggled and cut in.

"Say it slower I can't understand. Or maybe you know save it for later; I'm sleepy right now. Don't wanna and can't process shit right now."

Jungkook dropped his head and got up, offering his hand to pull the other up.

"Carry me," he commanded and made grabby hands. The younger racked his brain for a sarcastic comment like he usually would retort with but finding none, he gulped and picked up the other gently. After laying him on his bed, he went downstairs and sat at the table, devastated.

After about half an hour of sitting there hopelessly he stood up and trudged to Taehyung's room. He set himself down softly on the side of the bed as quietly as he could.ย

Taehyung was breathing softly, his chest rising and falling in rhythm. Even asleep, he looked beautiful. Jungkook leaned forward and brushed the soft hair from his forehead. His fingers trembled as he stroked the older boy's skin with a gentle, feather-like yet hesitant and nervous touch.

A deep sigh escaped him and he almost fell back on the bed but stopped in time. He got up, closing the door softly behind him.

Jungkook slipped his jacket and sneakers on, snatched his car keys from the table and left. He got in his car, slammed the door shut and rested his head on the wheel. Not like he was going anywhere. Just the scent of his car's air freshener always relaxed him.ย

Lemongrass. Taehyung's favourite soap scent. And what he always smelled like.

"Bang bang bang! Ppangya ppangya-" his phone screamed.

Jungkook put his head in his arms and picked up Jimin's call. "Hey Kook, how you doing?" a cheerful voice rung out. "I'm doing great. Thanks Jimin".ย

His tone was emotionless.

"It's Tae isn't it?" apart from himself only Jimin knew about his situation. And he could always tell whenever Jungkook was off. "Yeah. Isn't it always?" he sighed.

"Jungkook you don't know if Taehyung even likes girls. What if he likes you back? I'm telling you this is a bad, no scratch that, terrible idea!" Jimin burst out, exasperated.

"But I know he doesn't -," Jimin interrupted him, "Really? And who told you that, may I know?"

Jungkook groaned. "He's not like me Chim. He's straight and he's normal. He doesn't crush on his best friend. He doesn't crush on a guy.ย He's so cute and sweet. And he's so damn -"

"Oh, do shut up. I get it Kook, you're in love. But that will be useless if you don't pluck up the courage to fucking confess." Jimin usually never swore. It was horrifying to him and he probably could kill Jungkook for each time he did.

"But he doesn't like me so why would I try and get rejected? For the better or worse, he's not even dating anyone so that makes it harder for me to get over it. So I'm doing the only thing I can and the only thing I want. For him to be happy. So it's fine Jimin. It's completely okay," Jungkook chuckled impassively.

"Kook. Listen to me, of all people I know how it feels, okay? Hoseok was my first and my best friend. He was the friend I could only dream about. I was scared when I started developing feelings for him. But trust me, its normal. I know. It's the scariest thing ever- confessing to your best friend. You could lose everything you had and never wanted to let go of. But you could also get everything you dreamed of. But keeping it hidden will hurt you. And believe me - being homosexual is nothing wrong. There is nothingย wrong with you, Kook. Love is love, regardless of anything. So I'm telling you, I'm begging you, please Kook, please tell Tae. Look at where Hobi and I are now. I know you can do it Kook. You're the bravest person I know. I believe in you."

Jungkook took in a shaky breath. "How?" Jimin grinned tiredly on the other side and launched into speech immediately.

The next morning

Taehyung entered his best friend's house at 8 in the morning, slamming the door as loudly as he could behind him. Unsatisfied that it hadn't been ear-splitting enough, he opened it and banged it shut again.

"YAH JEON JUNGKOOK!" he yelled. In his room, the mentioned boy was still under his covers and sleeping quite peacefully after talking to Jimin late into the night. The boy ran up the stairs and burst into the room to find a mop of raven hair under messy sheets.

Taehyung jumped on the bed and ruffled Jungkook's hair. After a few minutes the bed was occupied by a sleepy-eyed boy who was still yawning and his best friend who was still hollering at him to get up.

"It's four in the morning Tae what the hell?" he groaned. "No it's not, you little shit; it's eight. Now get up."

"What the fuck is it."

"DON'T CURSE."

"Alright, geez, do you relax -"

"I was thinking of spending the day together Kookie! We can go somewhere if you want! Or we can stay at-," Taehyung said excitedly before Jungkook cut in, "Yeah sounds good. Or you know what. Let's stay home and sleep Tae," he said and slumped back on his pillows, eyelids fluttering shut again.

"No! Get up Jungkookie!"

An hour and a half of groaning, objecting, protesting, falling asleep in the washroom and cursing later, Jungkook was fully awake and Taehyung was chirping about his plans at the dining table.

Jungkook probably wasn't even listening to half of what the elder was saying but he kept nodding, regardless, at random intervals.

At last, he was shoved into the shower and he found himself standing under the water. The water trickling down his back didn't even seem to register in his head. He was too busy immersing himself in guilt and self-hate. His eyelids closed shut.

Taehyung was flashing his boxy grin at him. Taehyung was laughing hysterically at a joke he, Jeongguk, had said. Taehyung was darting around the kitchen, whipping something up. Taehyung, Taehyung, Taehyung. Why couldn't he ever get him off of his mind? Why was it always Taehyung?ย

The real life Taehyung's voice shook him from his reverie, "Kook, you done yet? I've set your clothes out in your bedroom! Don't take too long, we gotta hurry!"

Jungkook got up, shouted an "Okay!" and waited for some time for Taehyung to leave. When he thought it was all clear, he got out only to be face to face with his waiting best friend.

Taehyung blushed a deep red and his doe eyes widened. He had already got the view of a towel hanging dangerously low on Jungkook's waist, water drops rolling down his chest and his raven hair damp. "Uh - I, uh - I'll be - I - d-didn't m-mean," he stuttered before he took off like his life depended on it.

Jungkook stood there, frozen, and thought how much worse he had just made things. Still in shock, he dried himself, spraying water everywhere, and slipped on the tight ripped black jeans, a white skull T-shirt and a black jacket.

When he went out, Taehyung's face was still red and he looked like a cherry more than anything. "Kookie, I'm really sorry, I thought -," "It's okay Tae, it's fine!" Jungkook gave his bunny smile and he sighed with relief.
"Tae, you know what, yesterday I talked to one of those girls. She said she was free today but busy the next entire week. So I was thinking you should meet up with her today and tomorrow we could do our BFF-Day-Out or whatever it is."

Taehyung's face dropped and he mumbled an okay with an adorable pout that Jungkook was itching to kiss off his face. Then he realized what he was thinking and shook himself.

"So the cafe is quite close by, you could walk there, remember that 'Jinsan Cafe' we went to? It's that one. By the way, she's really pretty and she sounded quite sweet. She's got uh, b-brown hair, yeah and a small face. She's from Japan, I think. I'm sure you'll like her," he said in one breath, anxious, worried and scared at the same time.

Taehyung nodded, smiled at him, slipped on his shoes and yelled, "Sayonara Jungkookie!" Jungkook grinned and bolted when he heard the door shut. He picked up his car keys, ran out the door and hopped into his car.

Meanwhile, Taehyung was walking as slowly as he could.

"Can't believe he put me off just for another blind date of his. I really wanted to spend the day with him and this is what he does?" he huffed on the phone, talking to his cousin, Jimin. A vivid image of half-naked Jungkook flashed across his mind and he blinked, his face dusting red again.

"S'okay Tae, I'm sure it was for a good cause," Jimin said and smirked behind the phone. Taehyung hummed and saw the cafe come into view, "Jiminie I gotta go now, the cafe's here, bye!" he said and cut the call.

He enteredย  and the familiar wave of coffee, chocolate and bread hit him immediately. He sighed. This was one of his favourite places to visit with Jungkook but now that would be ruined because of this one idiotic girl.

He looked up trying to find a brunette but instead was met with a mop of familiar black hair.

Taehyung frowned, confused but nevertheless, made his way to his best friend. "JUNGKOOKIE!" he said, excited, "Didn't expect to see you her-" Jungkook looked up, a mix of guilt, fear, vulnerability, sadness and worry swimming in his chocolate eyes.

Taehyung's stomach turned, looking into the eyes he knew so well.

A tear fell from Jungkook's eye and he looked down, sniffling. Taehyung slid into the chair opposite him, leaned over and lifted his head with a finger. He cupped Jungkook's cheek and wiped his tears away gently. "Don't cry Kookie, you never cry! Please don't it hurts me to see you crying after all these years. What's wrong, sweetheart?" he asked gently.

Jungkook's breath hitched at the nickname and he shivered.

"Taetae... I'm sorry Tae.... it's all my fault....," he whispered. Taehyung stood up, pulling Jungkook up, put his hand on the younger's shoulder and tugged him out of the cafe.

He pushed Jungkook into his car and got in the driver's seat. He whizzed down the road, drowning out the younger's miserable sniffs by playing a random song.
In no time at all, he reached Jungkook's house and yanked the boy inside. He sat them both down on the sofa and turned towards him.

"Now tell me Kook, what's with the sad face," he asked firmly. Jungkook hooked himself onto Taehyung and choked down his sobs. "I'm sorry Tae. It โ€“ it's all my fault. I shouldn't have been this way. Why - why couldn't I be normal like you," he sobbed out, tears now freely streaming down his face.

"What're you talking about Kookie? Nothing's your fault! Except maybe that one time in middle school you spilled paint on me, purposely."
Jungkook smiled, sniffing, "That wasn't me it was that big clumsy idiot Jihoon."

Taehyung smiled, glad to see he wasn't tearing up again.

"I - oh let's just get this over with.... Tae, I apologize in advance -" "No Kook don't -"

"Lemme finish for fuck's sake!" he burst out.

"You've always been my best friend Tae; you've been there for me whenever I needed you. Fuck, I'm so thankful I found you that day in nursery. I love you so much, hyung. Please forgive me because saying this will most likely destroy our entire friendship but I can't keep it inside any more. I tried, believe me, I tried to keep it hidden and all these dates were because... I -," he stumbled before shaking his head and whispering, "I like you Tae. I really like you. And I'm not saying this in a friendly -," he sharply took in a breath. "I have a crush on you." He lowered his head, not daring to see the other's reaction.

He felt a slender finger press against the bottom of his chin, lifting his head up.

In a blink Taehyung's soft lips were pressed against his own. Jungkook's eyes were blown to their biggest size. He couldn't comprehend what was going on, except that a warm fuzzy feeling was spreading all over him. Taehyung pulled away, his cheeks red, and let out a laugh at the look on Jungkook's face.

"You - you just - what the actual fuck," he mumbled and brought his finger up to his lips. "I like you too, Kook. I have for a long time. 'M sorry I couldn't bring myself to confess. 'M sorry I made you cry," he said and hugged Jungkook. "So - so does that mean," he asked before the older interrupted, "We're going out? I mean if you say yes -"

"Y-yeah - hell, yeah, why wouldn't I say -," Taehyung yelled and pecked the other's lips again.

Jungkook laughed in relief. He was almost going to cry of joy. "I love you, Kim Taehyung. Wait since when did you like me again?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow.

Taehyung looked down, his cheeks reddening. "14," he muttered.

"Seriously? Aw, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner," Jungkook said and leaned down, peppering his face with kisses. Taehyung was a deep red by the time he decided to show some mercy and pull away.

"C-can you not - it - I - wha-" Jungkook laughed again, cutting across.

"Let's carry out your plan. We can spend the whole day and night and the next few days together, too!"

Taehyung nodded and Jungkook got up, picking the older up with no difficulty. Taehyung wrapped his hands around his neck and yelped when Jungkook threw him into the air. He huffed and said, "I'm not a kid nor a toy don't throw me around Kook!"

"Well you sure feel like a kid. No weight at all I swear." He set him down on a chair before turning the sofa into a pillow fort and jumping in.

The whole evening and half the night was spent first watching Tom and Jerry and then all the films of Marvel. The next morning, they woke up at ten in the morning, staring at each other, their limbs entangled and hair dishevelled.

After keeping so many secrets, the two were finally happy because a boy named Park Jimin shoved Jungkook into confessing. After a few years of dating, Taehyung decided to take the second important step and proposed to Jungkook. He obviously said yes and the rest of their lives was spent happily ever after. Of course, this is no fairy tale so there was the occasional couple fight but they never lasted long. They adopted two puppies, Yeontan and Miri. And yes, unlike all fairy tales this one came to an end when the two best friends to boyfriends to husbands passed away on the same day when they were 86 an 85. Yes, they died in their sleep. And yes, they died holding each other in their arms.
