Chapter 6

~Taehyung~

"You don't talk much about yourself, do you?"

Taehyung stopped eating and looked at Minseo as she was scrolling through her phone. He was well aware that although he's comfortable around her, he wasn't comfortable enough to talk about himself just yet. After all, he agreed to be her fake boyfriend at the reunion party even though the two barely knew each other. A part of Taehyung believes that it's because he's curious about Minseo and her life. He often wonders what life would be like for him if he didn't choose the path to become a celebrity. Taehyung wanted to be normal for a while and Minseo gave him that by not knowing who he is.

"No worries," she told him, eyes glued on her phone. "I won't force you to talk to me about your personal life."

Although Minseo talked a lot about herself, he sensed that there were things that she's not telling him too. He's grateful when Minseo backed off after that and was even more grateful when he saw that Minseo was trying to change the subject every time it starts to make him uncomfortable.

Taehyung had taken time off work so that he could focus on working on some songs for the new album. His boss was okay with it but needed Taehyung to cover for another worker which means Taehyung will be a little late to see Minseo at that reunion. Since he doesn't want to make it seem like he was using work as an excuse to get out of their plans, he decided not to tell her. He was going to have to finish up and hurry over to see Minseo on the day.

"Taehyung?" Namjoon's voice brought Taehyung's attention back to the screen. The two had been working on some lyrics for their new album. Namjoon rang Taehyung while he was eating and began asking Taehyung how he is doing. Not wanting to talk about Minseo or anything, Taehyung quickly advised that the two to start their work.

"Yeah?"

"Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah, sorry about that," Taehyung said to him. "I'll send my part to you so let me know if it's okay."

"Sorry about getting you to work even though you're on a break," Namjoon apologised.

Taehyung shook his head, "I can't let you lot work on this album without me so don't worry. I can't do much but if I can work on some parts then let me know."

Namjoon flashed a smile, "Thank you."

"So many people," I whispered to Kim who was beside me, drinking her wine.

"What did you expect, girl?" she smirked. "Anyways, when is your boyfriend getting here?"

I scowled at that. When I'd mentioned it to Kim, somehow one of the girls had heard it and now everyone knows about it. I was planning to just brush it off and tell Taehyung not to come but then I'd seen Jaeha walked into the restaurant with his girlfriend.

She'd given me a once over and smirked before offering her hand to me, "I'm Jaeha's girlfriend. You can call me Jojo."

I wasn't going to call her anything that's for sure. Instead of shaking her hand, I smiled and waved with both hands, "Nice to meet you."

She raised her eyebrows at me before dropping her hand and looked up at Jaeha, "Let's sit, babe."

Jaeha murmured, "It's nice seeing you again, Minseo."

Too bad I can't say the same about you, I thought to myself. Instead of answering him, I smiled and just nodded.

"You're so cold to Jaeha," Kim said to me as more and more people started walking through the door and taking their seats. I honestly wanted to run out of here now because I hated the faces that I was seeing. I didn't want to be here at all.

"Is Mika coming?" I asked Kim. Mika was one of Kim's closest friend and if she was coming, I was going to run out of here the minute Mika comes through.

The minute I asked her that, I saw Mika walking through the door. I turned to Kim and opened my mouth but she cut of me off saying, "No way, hun. You're introducing me to that hot boyfriend of yours."

I closed my eyes briefly, "I really don't think that's—"

"I want to see him too," a voice piped in. The voice that still pisses me off even though it's been almost five years. Jayla. One of the worst people in high school who loves to pick on others and make comments about people. She also happened to be Jaeha's cousin too. Lucky me, huh?

I pressed my lips together, not knowing what I should say. In fact, maybe pretending to not hear her is the best thing to do right now.

"Jayla," I heard Jaeha said in a warning tone. Like I needed his help. Jayla was never nice to me before and even after Jaeha and I were dating. Now that I think about it, Jaeha was pretty useless at standing up for me too. He just let Jayla say whatever she wants to say. She was his baby cousin after all.

"What, aren't you curious too?" Jayla crouched down in front of me before smiling. I hated that smile. She wears that smile when she is mocking people. The smile she always wore whenever she saw me. "Tell him to come on over."

I grabbed hold of the end of my dress, fisting my hands.

"Jay's right," I heard Jayla's friend, Hanna said. "We're about to eat and we can't eat if we're missing a special person."

Jayla turned her attention back at me and gave me that smile again. "You heard her."

"Stop it," Kim scowled at Jayla. "You're making Minseo uncomfortable."

"Oh, am I?" Jayla straightened herself. "I didn't mean to." Yeah, right.

I glared down at the ground, pressing my lips together to prevent myself from saying something I shouldn't.

I felt Jayla patting my head and saying, "Don't you just miss high school sometimes?"

My hands were fisted to the point where they were slightly shaking. It was also getting hard for me to breathe too. I hate it so much when people touch my head and she was doing it on purpose now. How long does she want to continue with this? Did this bitch not learn a few things about respect after graduating?

At the sound of the bells ringing at the door, gesturing that someone had entered the restaurant, was what had Jayla removed her hand from my head.

I lifted my head up and saw Taehyung standing there, looking better than ever. His eyes skimmed the area and its people and then they locked with mine.

~Taehyung~

Taehyung glanced at his watch as he rushed out of the shop after his shift was over and after he'd changed into his normal clothes. "Dammit," he muttered. He tried to find the restaurant Minseo had told him but he wasn't sure if he was going the right way. He was meant to ask her for directions but he forgot about it and could only rely on his memory of the directions she'd given him before.

"I hope she doesn't think I stood her up or something..." Taehyung murmured as he rounded the corner. He wasn't happy about pretending with Minseo but a part of him was curious to see how this plays out too. Taehyung can't deny the thrill he feels about playing along with Minseo—it was something he'd only seen in anime and dramas. In other words, he wanted to kill time doing something other than working in that convenient store.

As Taehyung's eyes were skimming the area, he regretted not asking Minseo what she was going to wear so he could identify her.

Taehyung looked around the shops that he was passing, mumbling "Where is she?"

When he saw the name of the place Minseo had told him, he looked around the area for Minseo. It was deserted. Almost no sign of life here. Well, it's a small town but even so there should be people walking around.

"I'm sure this is the place," he frowned and decided to move towards the door and that's when he saw it. He stood there, watching another woman crouching down and talking to Minseo.

He observed them for a brief moment and saw how tense everyone was. Not understanding the situation, Taehyung continued to watch until he couldn't stand it anymore. Even though he doesn't know Minseo that well—considering they were still just getting to know each other, he knew something was up with her.

Taehyung placed his hand on the handle and opened the door, stepping into the area, making all eyes turn his way. His eyes scan the area and was a thankful that no one seems to recognise who he is. One of the perks of staying in a small town like this.

Then his eyes locked with Minseo and he saw it right there and then. Relief. He doesn't know it for sure but it looked like she was on the verge of tears too. Although Taehyung didn't like the idea of pretending with Minseo, seeing her like this, he was glad that he was here pretending with her.

His eyes went towards the woman who had her hand on Minseo's head before. She doesn't look like someone Minseo would befriend and she was definitely one of those girls that Taehyung would stay away from.

Remembering that he was here, pretending to be dating Minseo, Taehyung smiled at Minseo before making his way towards her.

~Minseo~

I could cry right now. Taehyung was here. My ticket out of this hell.

Taehyung walked towards me and then to my surprise, he grabbed hold of my wrist and pulled me out of my chair and towards him. I collided with his chest and glanced up at him, confused. What is he trying to do here?

He smiled at Jayla who was shorter than he was. Looking at Jayla, I could tell she was in awe of his beauty. He wasn't wearing any flashy clothes but he stood out more than anyone here. He had that kind of aura. The kind that lets you know that he's not someone you cross paths with daily.

I watched as Taehyung leaned slightly towards her, towering her, saying, "I'm Taehyung, Minseo's boyfriend. I'm a very jealous person who can't stand it when people touch something that's mine." He paused and then flashed a cold smile before adding, "let's not touch something that isn't ours, okay?"

My jaw dropped as I stared at him in disbelief.

Taehyung dropped his gaze to me and placed his finger under my chin, lifting it up to close my mouth.

"Sorry for being late," he murmured.

"You're just in time," I heard Kim said, quickly. "We're about to order."

I opened my mouth to say something but Taehyung beat me to it, "I already ate."

Taehyung reached down and grabbed hold of my hand, "Since I don't like sharing Minseo with anyone, I'll be taking her with me." He glanced down at me, "You got a problem with that?"

I shook my head.

Taehyung looked up and smiled, "It was nice meeting you all."

With that, he then dragged me out of there without another word.
