Crowd At The Airport
You arrive at LaGuardia Airport, and Lori is there to meet you. You run to each other, laughing and hugging.
"I'm so glad I came. I know you have only been gone for a month, but it seemed like a lifetime."
She hands you a new cell phone, "Don't drop this one." she laughs as you hook arms, walk to the baggage claims carousel, and get your luggage.
There is a cordoned-off area with groups of people standing around. Reporters and photographers are mingled in the crowd.
You look at Lori. "I wonder who is here."
You both stop to watch as the crowd gets excited and the photographers' cameras start flashing. A large entourage surrounds some young men. Hats pulled low over their faces, walking closely between what appeared to be security.
Your best friend says, "Must be very popular."
You reply, "Yeah. I wonder who they are."
You turn away from the scene and continue to the exit. When you step outside, several large SUVs are pulled up at the loading zone.
Lori says, "I'm Sorry I couldn't pick you up. When I got here, this was all blocked. We must walk to the parking lot to get to my car."
"It's okay. It was a very long flight, and I need to stretch my legs anyway." Smiling at her, you step off the curb and drop your purse. Your cell phone and a couple of other things fall out.
You turn to pick up your phone when the young men you saw earlier start getting into the SUVs.
You stand and start to watch them to figure out if you know who they are when Lori bumps your shoulder, laughing, "You are always dropping things."
She helps you pick up the rest of your stuff. She takes your hand. "Come on, let's load the car and get something to eat."
You tell her, "Good. Where's the nearest Panda Express? I'm hungry."
One young man in the group, escorted to the front suv, suddenly stops.
Jimin runs into him. "What are you doing, Tae? Get in. It's hot out here."
Like snapping out of a trance, Tae looks at Jimin, "Um, oh, sorry. I just thought I saw someone."
He goes to get in the suv when he looks in your direction again but doesn't see anyone now.
"I just thought I saw someone I know."
Jimin gives Tae a little shove forward to hurry him along.
Jungkook and Yoongi had already gotten in and seated. As the door closes, they talk about what they want to see this time while in America.
Tae is looking out the window as if searching for someone. He thinks to himself, 'It couldn't have been her. There's no way.'
He feels a push on his shoulder and looks around. Jungkook gives him the evil bunny smile and asks, "Who are you thinking about?"
Jimin says, "I bet she has sexy legs, beautiful dark hair, and loves jazz."
They laugh, and Tae says, "Just leave me alone, okay?" and turns back to the window, resting his head on the headrest to make them think he is just tired.
Yoongi taps Jimin and Jungkook's shoulders, "Sit back down and buckle up."
What Tae confided in him the other night made Yoongi worried, and he didn't want Jimin and Kooki to tease him. Yoongi knows Tae's heart is a tender one.
Tae was devastated that he hadn't been able to contact you. That morning, before they left, Tae tried to call again, but it didn't go through.
Tae threw the phone down and cried at Yoongi, "Why does love hate me so much!?"
Yoongi reaches his hand between the seat and the window and gives a comforting squeeze to Tae's shoulder. Then he sits back and closes his eyes to catch some sleep.
