Gone was that barbarous day,
Years back to the sombre memories
of nature's vengeance against mankind.
Normal people doing normal chores,
children heartily going through
another long stay at home.
Sunlight sweeping through the
festive aura clinging unto air.
The morning was flawless,
ethereal,
nonchalant...
In a matter of seconds,
massive mountains of water waves
crashed in to the land.
Tersely as it could be,
the once normalcy flipped over
and there stood...a living hell.
Mutilated bodies,
Amputated limbs
lay here and there.
Left over victims,
singled out from loved ones,
wistfully longing the goners,
poignant recollections of fond memories,
fully aware of the gloomy future,
stared into blank space.
Undoubtedly unforgettable history,
The great bereavement
of the century.
This poem is in memory of the tsunami that crashed into Sri Lanka on December 26th, 2004. We lost our loved ones and it is indeed a tragedy that some of us still suffer from...
