Donatello had noticed his health declining when he was 13, but he didn't bother to tell anyone. He gave up on even the thought of telling someone after just a week. He tried to handle it alone, but as it got worse, he started resorting to more and more serious attempts at solutions until he was replicating psychiatric medications to treat his depression and anxiety. It was a lot to manage on his own, especially while trying to hide it from family, go on missions, and keep up with his schedule for inventions at the same time.
