Listen, yes, he might've slept with everyone in his flat within the first week of living in halls and had a respectable run on Grindr, but what eighteen-year-old wouldn't? He's almost twenty-four now, though, and sleeping with people who can't pronounce his name is, as his best mate would say, "not cute, baby girl".Problem: Nikki sucks at dating. With only disasters to show for his efforts, he decides to take a break from it all. That is, until he meets Josephine Rawlins.GENRE: romance, pan man x bi woman TROPES: friends with benefits, workplace romance, mutual piningCOMP TITLES: Entergalactic, Take A Hint Dani Brownfeatured in lgbtq's Pride Shelf Dec 24featured in Ambassador Recommendations BIPOC Mental Health Jul 24featured in Romance: Slow Burnfeatured in lgbtq: Bisexual and Pansexualfeatured in Ambassadors: Rainbow Fictionfeatured in Romance: LGBTQAIP+ Romance…

The real world skins you alive. It's a hazard of growing up in rural Suffolk... or possibly, it's a hazard of growing up. Either way, the Dorian Andrade and Isaiah Matalon who run into each other at a party in Oxford have become equally disenchanted imitations of the boys who used to spend summers eating stolen apples on the riverbank.A lot has changed in the six years since they saw each other. One thing is still the same: the longing for each other's company. But aren't the objects of our yearning so much easier to encounter in the imagination than when they're standing in front of us?GENRE: literary fiction, queer romanceTROPES: second chance romance, friends to lovers, mutual piningCOMP TITLES: A Little Life, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, Call Me By Your Name, basically Wolfstar Muggle AU featured in Ambassador Readsfeatured in Ambassador Recommendations: Living Beyond Labels Dec 24featured in ContemporaryLit: LGBTQ+ Contemporaryfeatured in ContemporaryLit: Literary Fiction featured in lgbtq: ManxMan (NA/Adult Fiction)featured in FreeTheLGBT: Diverse Literaturefeatured in WattpadLitFic: Novelsfeatured in WattpadMulticultural: September 2023 Reads of the Month…

A skeleton is all that keeps Ziri Meziani from becoming a ghost.Born to a prosaic town in East Sussex, Ziri is more than used to the company of his thoughts and daydreams, a habit nobody took issue with until 2006. Crediting it to him merely being reserved, they'd shrug and leave him to wander the uncharted terrain of his mind undisturbed. Two years later in 2008, however, everyone from his parents to his psychologist has become adamant he learn to be a normal teenager. 'It's not healthy to be alone all the time', 'you need a support system to recover', 'make some friends', etcetera. You'd think his life depended on it.The truth is, Ziri's no good at making friends. He's 'too much' -a title scalpeled to the back of his neck along with 'queer' and 'leech'- and he's got no clue on how to strip himself into something palatable for the general public. Besides, he won't focus on 'recovery' until he manages to pay his parents for his idiocy; a goal that clashes directly with his fear when his only remaining opportunity to make money is to tutor two of his classmates. It'll be fine, he thinks. Maths is hardly a segway to sharing childhood stories and past regrets. But Miles Hoàng has no interest in Ziri's plan of strict professionalism. Before he can realise what he's doing, Ziri invites him right through the fissures into his psyché, and with no warning, Miles picks up all his bones. Miles Hoàng's life is perfect. He has the perfect best-friend-slash-boyfriend-slash-bane-of-his-existence, Ziri Meziani. They live in a perfect (if a little cramped) apartment above a Nepalese restaurant they get food from at a discount whenever they're both too lazy to cook. He has a perfect (meaning decent) job with a nice (meaning decent) boss and cool (meaning decent) coworkers at an Amazon warehouse - which means he has to listen to people's complaints about their deliveries being late every time he bothers to socialise as if that's something he has any control over. And sure, his family still think being gay is a phase he'll grow out of. And he has to listen to debates about how queer marriage will irrevocably destroy British society every time he tries to watch the news. And panic attacks start pouncing on him without warning when he's supposed to be the normal one. But otherwise, his life is perfect.Miles has compartmentalised his mind with an efficiency his recovering-hoarder-become-neat-freak mother would be proud of. If somebody were to walk into his mind, they would find a clean house full of natural sunlight and not much else. His grandparents are in one room, his dad's coffin in another, his mother asleep in the third. Even Ziri - especially Ziri - is quarantined from the rest because sometimes there are roars in the basement no amount of music can cover up and Miles has no plan of inviting anyone down those stairs.Until he crams the basement so full that demons start climbing out. Turns out, the walls between his compartments are paper mache. [manxman] [new adult general fiction]…
