In the vast expanse of the multiverse, the verseship Infinitum explores the multiverse for the Bluith corporation. 1st Lieutenant Loon has been passed over for captain, and newly promoted Captain Selta has taken his place. Frustrated by this, Lieutenant Loon begins to question his own leadership skills, as the ship's psychologist tells him he cannot be captain because of his emotional need for validation. After working with Captain Selta it's not long before Lieutenant Loon discovers her clueless inept leadership skills are a far cry from his own. From the first Jump to verse 6003, to the new ability to jump to previous verses, they are met with multiple crises and new life forms which on most occasions lead to a calamity of outcomes.Through these challenges, Lieutenant Loon learns valuable lessons in the art and skill of leadership as a captain. Like the time Lieutenant Loon is acting captain after Captain Selta takes a sick day. Loon is swallowed by The Beast, a large scaly ogre-like creature on Volton 6.
