Find out in his journal! All secrets have come to light with such delicate and confidential information kept within the torn and bloody pages.P.S. --- Don't forget to thank Sazorac. Living the Life

Living the Life

If you could live any life imaginable through the means of some coding and digital imaging, wouldn't you at least be intrigued to try it out? What started out as one company's venture into virtual reality and simulation experiencing, governments all around the world corrupted an innocent dream for the future of all humanity. Aurelius Corp. never intended its users to be trapped indefinitely in a loop of simulations, but the human mind always bends to the greed and promises that wealth brings. Skylar Oakley was one among the billions living in poverty who always dreamed of a better life. Aurelius Corp. developed the solution to Skylar's dream - a simple implant, operated by downloading a simulation onto the software to be run at the discretion of the user. However, as politics infiltrated and corrupted this idea for an occasional escape from reality, Aurelius Corp. sold the rights to their technology for unlimited wealth. While distracted by these alternate realities providing a better life for each individual, nobody questioned when everyone was subdued to the simulations indefinitely. After having lived through multiple lifelong dreams, Skylar began to notice some flaws within the system itself. Why were they so happy? Why couldn't they remember a time before the technology? Where was the exit to the program? Why did they want to leave the perfectly programmed life just to go back to the poverty, illness, and hate of reality?-------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is my ONC 2021 project based on prompt #79: "The Virtual Implant was supposed to be a revolutionary breakthrough; for a time, it was. "…

With his new store manager being a retired vampire hunter, Finley is faced with the conflict he's always aimed to avoid - either expose his true nature to those he's grown close to, or figure out a way to delude this persistent hunter from pushing him over that edge.…

**Cover done by @victoria_arose **!ONC Ambassador's pick!Angels are good and demons are bad. Right? Perhaps Terra just read too much into stereotypes, though. For as long as she could remember, her guardian angel, Marvik, was anything but holy and innocent. If it weren't for the demon on her other shoulder, however, Terra would have to agree with those stereotypes. Marvik and Sazorac did their honest best in leading Terra through life, but they didn't always advise in an ideal way. All she wanted was to make it through college and find a decent job. Through every step of the way, with her two relentless supernatural overseers, progressing forward each day was as treacherous as the last. ------------------------------Based on the Open Novella Contest prompt #47: An angel obsessed with chaos and a law-abiding demon debate over who's good and who's evil. As you might expect, that debate gets out of control.…

**Cover done by Crimson_Graves **Angels stay in Heaven, and demons in Hell. Ideally, the balance between good and evil would be easily upheld with every being keeping each other in check. However, what happens when an ultimately confused and lost hybrid loses the ambition and morals he has always worked towards?Eekainine had never lived an easy life as a hybrid. In a society that separated the ideals of the pure and good angels, and the mischievous, power seeking, evil demons, he was always expected to choose one side or the other. For the majority of his life, Eekainine had stuck with the community he was born into and grew to love more than anything. Over the many years, he managed to climb the ranks among the angels and gain the highest level of respect within the community. To live life to the fullest for the greater good was never a doubt. However, Eekainine found himself questioning his own morals more often than he'd like to admit. With his own curiosity and the livelihood of his newborn daughter on the line, the hybrid knew he only had a limited amount of time to find some answers and come up with a solution for a better lifestyle where they would not be discriminated for having both species in their genes. The initial search for answers began as innocently as was intended, but when ancient beliefs and traditions are challenged, being stuck in the middle of an eternal war of demons and angels, good and evil, Eekainine is forced to do what he feared the most - choose between letting his daughter suffer the same sort of life he had, or fully embracing the darkness in his soul and separate himself from his family to give them the best life possible.…

**On hiatus for plot reconstruction****Cover done by victoria_arose**Most people live their entire lives without ever knowing who their guardian angel is, let alone if they even truly have one. Oliver Everton, however, has known since birth who has been watching over him. Reizo was the best guardian of his generation of angels. He believed every human deserved a chance at life regardless of what their fate may be. After all, the whole point of being human meant making mistakes and living life to its fullest. The angel was ridiculed for taking on a 'pointless' case, for fighting for a human soul that would not survive. Having been born into a body that mismatched his soul and into a society that would tear him down for his lifestyle and choices, Reizo knew exactly what sort of a challenge guiding Oliver entailed. Despite the constant obstacles thrown in his way, from helping him deal with school bullies to overcoming a rising alcoholic problem, Reizo was determined to provide this human with the knowledge necessary to succeed in his life. And on top of Oliver having the typical human challenges, being openly exposed to the knowledge of the supernatural was a league of its own in guiding this human in life. Failure is not an option in Reizo's work, but with all the odds stacked against him, Oliver has never seen a future in which he is alive to witness.…
