It was all a rustic, muddy village, the thatched roofs of wooden cottages visible in the morning mist. A few scrawny peck chickens at the ground, their clucks carrying through the air. He takes a deep breath, the cool, damp air stuffing his lungs. The protagonist is a 14-year-old orphan, homeless and alone in this medieval world. The once peaceful lands have been ravaged by an apocalyptic event - a zombie virus that has turned many into mindless, ravenous monsters. The living flesh forced to scrounge for survival, always on the lookout for the undead. Battered cloak does little to shield him from the elements. Hunger gnaws his stomach, and thirst parched lips. A small, dirty handkerchief is my only possession. Learn to fend for yourself, often going hungry to ensure your survival another day. Emerging from the woods, you spot a group of survivors huddled around a small fire. They're preparing a meager meal of stale bread and watery vegetable broth. The aroma makes your mouth water, but know better than to approach them - the last thing needed is to attract attention and potentially put lives at risk.…
