[Preview]I moved further into the alley and peered behind the dumpster. My heart fell as I strained to see through the darkness and spotted a bright orange cat that appeared to be hurt. It was barely conscious, it's strange heterochromatic orbs struggling to stay open. "Sh. It's alright." I slowly extended my hand toward the cat. It let out a hiss but seemed too injured to move away from me. I couldn't reach it and had to push the dumpster out of my way. The ginger cat flinched and tried to get up to run. A yowl of pain escaped it and it fell back over, too weak to move. "I won't hurt you." I tried to reassure the frightened cat as I gently scooped it up and tucked it against my body trying to shield it from the rain. There weren't any emergency vets anywhere nearby nor a local vet open at this hour. I'd have to try and do what I could at home until I could get it to a vet. Despite my best efforts to not care or overthink things, I was still feeling nervous for my first day of high school. I wasn't sure what to expect from the coursework, it was sure to be tough. I'd met enough annoying people in middle school and really hoped high school would be less annoying. Luckily, I didn't think that annoying clingy loud mouth was smart enough to make it into UA so perhaps I'd have some peace. There was a bunch of press crowding around the gate making it a little hard to get to school. She looked up at me through long dark lashes a soft demure expression on her angelic face, "if you're going to kill me...c-can I make a request?" Her voice didn't sound nearly as shaky as it had before. Perhaps she'd accepted her fate. I looked down at her waiting for her to continue. "Look me in the eye." Once more, I thought I saw a flicker of a smile on her lips but it was gone the moment I focused my attention there. That seemed like an odd request. "Alright." I nodded and held her glowing gaze. My resolve was starting to slip. This didn't feel right, something in me didn't want to kill this girl. As if she sensed my resolve beginning to waver, she offered me a meek smile, "if it's any consolation, I promise I won't haunt you." My hand felt a little unsteady. Why was this so difficult? I grit my teeth and tightened my grip on the blade. I couldn't fail this test. I drove the blade into her chest and felt my blood turn cold as her lips pulled into a maniacal grin. Her thin corpse complexioned hand encircled my bare wrist. How the hell did she get loose? Sometimes the people who smile the brightest are the most broken.... Endeavor looked around the conference room filled with his sidekicks. He took a quick mental headcount and frowned. The newest recruit, the UA student he'd offered a work study position to, was late. There was a faint pop above, causing everyone to look up as a petite girl with long snow-white hair and bright golden hued green eyes wearing a skin tight green accented silver bodysuit appeared out of thin air. She glanced downward and let out a squeak as she plummeted toward the ground. Sighing, Endeavor kicked a nearby plush rolling chair across the floor to break her fall. She toppled into the plush chair with a giggle that brought a smile to everyone's face. Her name was Ridley and she was a second year at UA. She had interned with his agency during her first year as a UA student. All of his sidekicks were surprised when he'd offered her to continue working with them. He was even considering offering her a full-time position as one of his sidekicks once she graduated from UA. No one expected him to like the bubbly energetic youth since he often came across as surly and far too serious whereas the youth seemed to be a little bit of an airhead. Ridley was almost never serious, there was always a bright happy smile on her face and everywhere she went she left laughter and smiles in her wake. She brightened everyone's days, spreading cheer and goodwill to all who crossed her path. Perhaps that was why Endeavor had decided to keep her, he wasn't immune to her charms though he rarely smiled she did cheer him up and give him hope. The hostages were inside, she breathed a sigh of relief before motioning for us to join her. "Untie them all, I'll clear the stairwell." She ordered calmly before turning toward the door. My hand moved on its own catching her small wrist. "Why don't you let us take care of that, you're injured." Her glare was frightening, "I know my limits, I'm nowhere near them. Please release me or I shall consider this an act of aggression toward an officer of the law and will be forced to subdue you." "Yikes." Hizashi chuckled and wandered off to untie the hostages. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a familiar, unforgettable face. It was a young man a year or two older than myself with unruly dark hair, piercing teal eyes and pale skin with patches of almost necrotic looking dark discolored skin that appeared like patchwork and was held together by what looked like medical staples and stitches in some areas there were two patches beneath his eyes and the entire lower half of his face starting at the crease in his lips, everything from his bottom lip stretching to his ears and down to his shoulders was the strange mottled patchwork flesh that looked dead and rotting. His piercing teal gaze fell on me, I wasn't sure if he recognized me or not it had been a few years since we'd last run into each other. We completed a job together for some criminals, he was often changing his name so I had no idea what name he was going by these days. His face was an expressionless mask as he met my gaze. I struggled to my feet and looked over to the bar. There was a ghostly pale man with pale greyish blue hair that was long enough to hang into his face and was in complete disarray. His lips were cracked and dry, his eyes were closed and he appeared to be in pain. There was a sickly pallor to his skin. My gaze fell to a deep wound in his side, it looked as if he'd been stabbed several hours ago and from his current half-conscious state and the sickly pallor to his skin it appeared to be fairly serious.Taking a deep breath, I activated my quirk and placed my hand to his forehead. My name is Tara, I was born with a quirk, that isn't all that interesting, nothing about me is all that interesting. I feel invisible most of the time, but I think that's mainly my quirk's doing, I'm not really invisible I can just make people think I'm not there, like misdirection.
