He could feel the impact of the venom ball reverberate throughout his shield, and he held it closer to his face, knowing that taking the brunt of the poison would surely mean game over for him. Suddenly, he felt the shield lighten slightly, as if something had carved out a portion of it. He swiftly looked at the front of his shield, before widening his eyes in stark horror. The acid seemed to be eating away at the wooden layers of his shield, the wood peeling away as if it was melting as the purplish liquid ate deeper and deeper into his only protection against the slack-jawed beast in front of him.
