When the war with Gaea ends, Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter are left with barely any campers left. Percy and Annabeth are called upon by the gods to complete another quest, but Percy refuses, reluctant to get involved in any godly business after his personal losses in the war. However, the gods do not tell Percy and Annabeth that they have been corresponding with Nick Fury in human form. One way or another, the two demigods must be recruited for the Avengers; because a new danger is arising. Though they have just defeated Gaea, there are other evil forces still waiting for their turn…and when the demigods are weakened after the war, it is a perfect time to attack.
