Harold Fulmer is plagued with a condition with the side effect of knowing when a thunderstorm is imminent. This strange condition also draws the lightning to him. He has been struck by lightning many times and survives somehow. But it is a traumatic and painful experience every time. The condition is also inextricably and strangely tangled with an urge to help other people survive terrible storms. The more he 'listens' and keeps them safe, the less that the storms occur. The problem is not that he doesn't want to help people. The problem is that he wants to avoid the limelight of a hero. His dark and stormy past haunts him. If certain people from the past, find out where he is, they will certainly do worse than the storms have. So Harold must balance the urge to help others and relieve his suffering with the knowledge that he has to stay hidden from those who would find another way to end his pain.…
