Light, the false hero of this world, had failed the Leaders for the last time. After Soren's death and Cliff's infection by the Darkness, the whole Kingdom became weary and hostile towards Light, some even going as far as physically attacking him to keep him away. He was being seen as a bad omen and it was putting his, and others, lives in danger. It was then that the Leaders made a hard decision, asking Light to step down for the sake of everyone.
