*Completed* We are only a number...How would you feel if when you were born, your whole life was set in front of you? If how you were treated was all dependent on where in the year you were born? Well, welcome to Karyln, formerly known as the United States before World War three and four. In Karyln, parents try to plan pregnancies to end right around the first of the year because when you're born decides how the rest of your life will be. The first boy and girl born gets the number one, they are projected to receive the best life possible. The next boy and girl get the number two, and I think it's pretty easy to guess how the rest goes. The only thing standing between the elite society and their perfect lives, is The Trial. Every year, on the first of June, everybody who has or is having their eighteenth birthday joins. It's a race to the finish line in teams of four and you could either become a higher or lower number depending on when you reach the end. This was created in hope to give those with lower numbers a chance to climb up the ranks. The Trial then developed into more. Pairs of boys and girls with numbers one through thirty live, while the others with numbers of thirty-one and beyond are purged to maintain population control. When Serina applies for a transfer to A1-C23, her one chance is denied and where she ends up is now at the mercy of the GTA, the Galactic Transport Authority. After a grueling two weeks leading up to her transfer, she is placed into a stasis pod and sent to an unknown planet called C3-G12. While there, she meets strange faces from even stranger places and is expected to lead the brand new colony started on this new planet along with a few choice others. We will break the cycle...After three training weeks, we were thrust into the Waste, expected to trek two-hundred-fifty miles through barren nothingness to reach salvation. The Trial has tested us each, on our strength, our cunning, and our forgiveness.
