“The Vicar of Dibley Revisited: A Season of New Beginnings:Episodes Treatment SummariesAn Original Fan Fiction Adaptation of the characters from the BBC tv show “The Vicar of Dibley” by Gratiana Lovelace(all rights reserved; no copyright infringement intended) [(1abcd) Story Cover Logo] Author's NoteWhen "The Vicar of Dibley" ended its twelve year series run in 2006 with the marriage of Vicar Geraldine to Accountant Harry, the writers claimed in the dvd extras that they couldn't figure out how to make a married vicar work within their storyline's framework.Precisely, blokes! This conflict between Geraldine’s duty to her flock and her love for Harry would be the perfect comedic/dramatic plot convention. Marriage is about negotiation, compromise--and the husband realizing that his wife is always always right. Ha! But more importantly, the VofD writers missed an opportunity to explore how that negotiation takes place--to what would have been wildly humorous effect. And I, for one, miss the charming “The Vicar of Dibley” show greatly. So, I have written a detailed story narrative for a new season of "The Vicar of Dibley" with 8 episodes exploring the Vicar and Harry's life well into marriage. These 8 episodes will comprise 8 chapters (or sections). So, I will keep it short and hopefully a fun and enjoyable read. I have yet to flesh out dialogue scenes, so that will help with the brevity that I am going for here. And, this ‘season’ of Dibley episodes that I have envisioned is on the more poignant end of the scale in terms of the action that takes place. But then, the Dibley show always had moments of great heart in it, and that heart is what I draw upon here. And there will also be some of the characteristic humor we remember fondly as well. By the way, I rated my story PG-13 because of some of its sassy humor and some of its serious subjects.I hope that you enjoy my story. Cheers! Gratiana Lovelace…

"Mr. Romance", a short story by Gratiana Lovelace, 9/15/13

The themes of “Mr. Romance” involve waiting for true love, discovering what true love is, and family--be they colleagues and friends, or blood relatives. Life is what we make of it. We can choose our own paths sometimes. And life is always sweeter, when we can and finally do choose to love.“Mr. Romance” is one of three script stories that I began back in November 2010 over the Thanksgiving Holidays--I have already serialized “Handsome” here in Wattpad and on my blog--and I returned to “Mr. Romance” again and again as I expanded and refined it. It is on the shorter end of the spectrum for my stories--being under 50 pages. I have already serialized “Mr. Romance” on DF and on my blog, but had not shared it here on my Wattpad site yet. For those of you who had read this story earlier, there will be some inevitable tweaking as I read through this story again. And for those of you who like a "quick" story, Mr. Romance is one of my short stories at under 45 pages.…

My fan fic "A Christmas Carol Reimagined" is the tale of a miserly middle aged man--a friend to no one--who is scared into realizing the folly of his ways when he is visited by three ghosts (past, present, and future). He then vows to be compassionate toward his fellow man and through his good deeds, he redeems himself--and he comes to know the meaning of love.My story here is my "mash up" of "A Christmas Carol" (original story by Charles Dickens) with Elizabeth Gaskell's "North & South", JRR Tolkien's (via Sir Peter Jackson's films of) "The Hobbit", and is set in the 1850's. I hope that you enjoy it! Cheers!…

Sir Guy: The Look of Love, a ficlet, by Gratiana Lovelace, 2016

Sir Guy: The Look of Love, a ficlet, by Gratiana Lovelace, 2016

311 11 1

Some might say that Sir Guy of Gisborne has too much ambition--and hubris--with regard to his love for the Lady Marian Knighton. And yet, when they are thrown together in the most unusual of circumstances, whom will take the opportunity to make the first step toward love?…

"A Poetry Ficlet: Sir Guy's Wintry Musings" by Gratiana Lovelace, 2015

47 4 1

On a cold wintry night, Sir Guy of Gisborne ponders his joys, his annoyances, and his fears as they relate to his lady love and their life together. And as usual, his musings betray his incomparable self valuation, while also being juxtaposed with his sometimes fatalistic pessimism. Sir Guy is at his brooding best--with a bit of wry commentary to balance out his generally insufferable beast nature. But afterall, he is Sir Guy.…

"I am the Daddy: My Humorous Journeys Through Fatherhood" (short story)

1,251 18 1

This short story is a fictional tale about one man's journey as a father.Dear Friends, At the end of my June 15, 2013 blog post over on Wordpress, I kind of unintentionally set myself a challenge--regarding my hoping to see Talented British actor Richard Armitage in a fatherly romantic comedy role one day. And today is Father’s Day in the U.S. So this little father themed short story popped into my head. I hope that you enjoy it. And if you are a father and whether your father is living--or he solely resides in the memories of your heart, as mine does--I wish you all a Happy Father’s Day everyone! Cheers! Grati ;->…

"Time to Go to Bed", A Ficlet, by Gratiana Lovelace, 2014

478 10 1

A phrase, an image, a thought, and a fictional story emerges. These random musings are not rooted in reality. But rather, they spring from a wish to see everyone in a loving relationship. And my characters are at my writing whims. So they comply--at least, until, it is time to go to bed.…

"Rehearsals, A Ficlet", by Gratiana Lovelace, June 19, 2014 (completed)

489 13 1

To think of a thing is to acknowledge its existence. To see a thing is to want it. To want a thing--leads you into a lot of trouble, as the married John Proctor found out from his sexual dalliance with the much younger Abigail Williams in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. This play happens to be currently in production at The Old Vic in London, England. This ficlet [(1) story logo top right] is my completely fictional imaginings of how the line between actors portraying lust and want and need and desire and the actors feeling those emotions themselves, might create some delicious artistic tension on the set and during rehearsals.…

"Handsome" (Scenes 0 - 7)--a one act romantic comedy, 11/16/12

2,189 13 3

As crushes go, Elaine Marshall's romantic crush on her best friend Rodger Calendar is a doozy-and doomed! Forty year old Rodger is tall, dark, and handsome-naturally befitting the six foot four inch muscular leading man hunk of an actor that he is. Elaine is forty five years old, 160 pounds, and five foot four inches tall-very nicely womanly curvy-with long silky brunette hair that she usually styles up and out of the way in a loose twist. But, Elaine knows that she's older than Rodger is, she's not as 'pretty' as Rodger is, and she's not British like Rodger is. So it's "three strikes and you're out"-in Elaine's mind--to use one of her American idioms. But, Elaine is grateful for Rodger's close friendship forged from them working on different artistic projects together and becoming best friends over the past few years. Elaine just needs to 'move on' with her life so that she can find romance for herself-especially since romance is supposedly her writing genre. And, Elaine has an attractive face and a pleasing disposition. So, Elaine has hope in her quest to find love for herself. She just doesn't expect to find love where she does.…
