WattpadShortStories: Twelve Days of Writing

WattpadShortStories: Twelve Days of Writing

48 2 1

A small collection in response to @WattpadShortStories's Twelve Days of Writing contest (December 2020). A different genre prompt was given each day for 12 days. I only came to this late, so missed the deadline, but liked some of the prompts quite a lot. This does mean I've felt free to ignore the word limit (although I've tried to keep them short). I've paraphrased the relevant prompts below.Day 2 - Fantasy: You live in a world where memories can be captured and sold. Some memories are worth more than others and some people are willing to risk their lives to get what they want.Day 5 - Contemporary Fiction: You get stuck in the elevator (UK: 'lift') at work with a colleague you don't like. Day 8 - Crime/Mystery: You're a reluctant guest at a wedding as a return favour to the bride. When you arrive, you find the groom dead and the bride missing.…

Moments From a Love Affair

Moments From a Love Affair

The first year of a love affair between two twenty-something girls, seen through important scenes. This deliberately jumps about a bit, time-wise. Just because that seemed like an interesting idea. The chapter headings should make things clear. Feel free to read as much or as little of this as you like, obviously, but each of the chapters is linked to ones either side of it in some way, so it will probably only make sense if you read it all the way through. The cover wasn't made by me (mine are rubbish, as you can see), but I don't think the lovely person who made it for me is still around here. It's still awesome, though.xOriginally written, August 2013.…

That's More Than A Date

That's More Than A Date

This is a collection of stories exploring what might happen next. *Some of them will be based on my other short story collection, "That's A Date" (hence the title); these are marked with an asterisk, and you may like to read the backstory first. Some will feature characters from other stories of mine. Some will be stand-alone offerings. *Be warned: erotica isn't really my strong point, so this is an experiment. Don't expect great things...…

Michaela has an unusual part-time job, but it helps her pay her way through university. Victoria is a public figure, with a secret and a problem that Michaela might be able to fix. Work brings them together, but can Michaela keep her focus?Written for the #BadassReads and #LGBT combined contest. Some parts of this were prompted by recent news stories, but the details of my situations and characters are all entirely fictional and not in any way supposed to resemble any real person or situation. Many thanks to the lovely @sovereinete for the cover!Be warned, this story contains improbable situations, some mild violence and a whiff of sex, and a fair bit of what I hope is badassery...and was great fun to write. ;) xxJanuary, 2016.…

In 1960s England, two young women take a trip to the seaside.A short story, written for the Moral Fortitude project's third anthology: 'Perfect Timing'. A story about a colour (and colour in general), and hopefully about how colour can be sensual, can resonate, can have meaning in unusual and personal ways.Written in response to a @RaeKitano prompt, to write a story about a colour. The original story is Part One. Part Two is a continuation, which picks up in the space before the last paragraph of Pt1, if that makes sense.Written July 2013.…

Two potential lovers meet...Was to be submitted as an entry to Wattpad's Romance competition 8 ("Meet Cute"), but I missed the deadline. *Your character gets stuck in a toilet at a party.* This all started as a response to the above prompt, as issued by the lovely @RaeKitano. Before she got banned by Wattpad, she did great LGBT short story prompts. Part One was the original short story, of course. This is so definitely no longer a short story, and I feel like I'm really cheating by even including it any more. But Fi and Diana would not exist if it weren't for Rae and her challenge. It's got out of control because I wanted to find out what happened next. ;) Thanks to @Megabucks for the new, improved cover! Originally started, August 2013.…

So, what with this being a fanfic, any similarity to things is kind of the point. But it's made up as well, so it's not supposed to be anything actually actual. Also, I'm not a gamer and frankly don't care enough to take an interest, really. Someone else gave me the idea for this. (Thanks, @DocGeeps.) So, sorry to any purists out there, if it's not realistic as a set-up.Also, I should say now, I have no idea where this is going. Partly because it has had to stray into fantasy territory and I don't really do fantasy either. So basically, I'm closing my eyes and just going for it and hang the consequences.…
