Chapter 4: Work Begins

It was four weeks later, and the boys had a fairly routine schedule.

They'd all wake up at 4:30 in the morning and go on a three mile jog, returning and eating breakfast around 5:30. They'd then go get ready for the day, all meeting in their rows by 6:15. They'd then split into their groups and do rotations from 6:45 to 12:30, breaking and eating lunch. They'd return at 2:00 and have a formal class until 4:00, would go for another run, then return for dinner at 6:00.

And after dinner, they were free to do what they wished.

Since they weren't yet actually working, per say, they were fairly relaxed.

Until one day, Owens came bursting through the door.

"Suit up!" he yelled. "We gotta go!"

Murphy, Josh, Tyler, and Bishop all nodded and quickly put on their uniforms, each kissing the photos of their families before reporting outside.

Tyler was buckling the chinstrap of his helmet as he walked out of his room, Josh stopping as he saw him.

Stunning.

How could someone simply look so perfect?

But, Josh was forced to keep going. This was go time.

The four piled into the truck along with Owens and Williams, the top six present being the only ones they wanted going.

Josh sat behind Tyler in the Jeep, and he couldn't keep his eyes off of him. He just looked so...intriguing.

They arrived at the location, being ordered to scope the abandoned, ruptured building for possible explosives.

Tyler found one.

He quickly adjusted the wires and deactivated it.

"Nice, Joseph," Owens said, patting Tyler on the back.

Tyler couldn't help but smile shyly, and Josh was watching.

holy shit.

Even this boy's smile is adorable.

They continued their search, but found none. They all then headed back but didn't arrive until nearly five in the morning. Owens told them they could take the morning off and only had to show up for class and the afternoon run.

So, Joshua took his chance.

They all showered and then returned to their rooms.

Tyler jumped slightly when he heard someone knock at his door. "C-come in?"

"H-hi," Josh said quietly, opening the door.

"H-hi," Tyler said almost silently.

This must be Dun, he thought. I didn't think he would be that cute, though...

"I-I'm Josh," he said, extending his hand to Tyler.

"I-I'm Tyler," Tyler said in return, shaking the very handsome guy's hand.

"I-I thought I'd maybe just... j-just say hi," Josh shrugged. He was nervous.

But Tyler was more nervous.

"O-oh," he said. "Cool."

"Your numbers were really impressive," Josh said.

"O-oh," Tyler said, blushing and ducking his head in an attempt to hide it. "T-thank you. But, s-so were yours. I've never heard of someone dead-lifting more than 450, let alone 500."

"I heard Williams and Owens talking. They said nobody's ever been first in as many categories as you," Josh said.

"Y-you can come in more," Tyler eventually said. "You don't need to just stand at the door," he half-smiled.

Josh's heart melted, and he smiled back.

Now both boys were just smiling shyly at each other.

"So, Tyler," Josh smiled. "Tell me about yourself."

"Oh, goodness," Tyler said, letting out a breathy laugh. "I'm not too terribly interesting."

"Well, you haven't even said anything and I find you completely infatuating," Josh smiled.

Tyler blushed deeply.

This boy was a charmer.
