Chapter 13

"Abu Musa رضى الله عنه narrates that Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم said: " Indeed,Allah the Almighty and Majestic extends his Hand of Mercy during the night, so the evil doers of the day may turn with the repentance of may turn with repentance, and He extends His hand of Mercy during the day,so the evil doers of the night may turn with repentance. This (gesture of Allah's mercy) will continue until the sun rises from the West. "

Recap of chapter 11....

"If you wish to separate , or divorce me, I understand ...", she choked out.

He remained silent , at a loss for words.

What was this about?

" Farhaad I was not pure ", she said it so softly , he thought he heard wrong.

"What ?", he asked , not sure if he heard right.

She turned her face to the headboard , not prepared to see the hurt flashing across his face , after she told him.
" I ... I was not pure before marriage , I was in a relationship a year before that, my parents don't know till now " she held her breath , awaiting his reaction , painful silence engulfed them, and just when she was about to turn around , to see if he had left , she heard glass shattering, gasping she jumped off the bed , a few feet away from the bed , the vase that rested on the shelf was shattered on the tiled floor , the broken prieces of glass scattered on the marble .

Consumed by fear , she lifted her gaze to Farhaad , who looked at her with red eyes , his forehead furrowed ,the anger evident on his face , his hands balled into fists.

"This whole time , you put on a facade of being an innocent shy woman but, you were not ! " , he yelled , punching the wall.

She remained silent , afraid that if she spoke , perhaps he would hit her.
With one last menacing galre, he walked out of the room , slamming the door behind him. She fell onto the floor sobbing once again, this was it ....this was the end of her happily married life....

How long could he hide away? He didn't realise how serious was the action he commited , despite being reminded indirectly in many ways , he refused to repent,he thought , the past would remain in the past but, little did he know that his past will haunt him over and over again in his future, this was still not the end of the tempestuous storm in his life , venting out his frustration and anger , he was oblivious that a greater tragedy still awaited him, such a tragedy that would leave him shaken, that would leave him broken, that would turn his whole world udpside down, that would force him to forget his ego and his pride.

Haaniya sat on the bed , her head resting against the headboard, she was certain that their marriage would diverge into a heartbreaking divorce, she was sure that he didn't even want to look at her face, he probably didn't even want to glance at her ever again. It was only right to tell him , she could not live her entire life in guilt, she couldn't live with the fact that he was under the misconception that she was always so shy, she was not pure, she was not innocent, she had a dark past but, she had regretted, she had repented, and she had transformed into a better person , before marriage. She still had a lot of improvements to make but, she was better than what she once was.

Her heart extruded in pain ,thousands of negative thougts created a whirlwind in her mind , sorrow became entrenched in her heart. She wiped away the last of her tears, that lingered on her rosy cheeks, she was sure that he was going to divorce her, before he could come and fling the heart breaking news at her face, she decided to pack up and leave on her own. She was not going to persuade him to keep her as his wife, it was her fault , it was only right of her to tell him before marriage ,and she convinced herself that she deserved to suffer.

She took hesitant steps towards the door, to grab a broom in order to clean up the shards of glass that glistened beneath the LED spotlights, and also to get her suitcase from the store room. She opened the door slowly , hoping and praying that Farhaad wasn't at home. She tip toed across the passage, feeling like a little kid sneaking into the kitchen late at night, searching for the chocolates her mother hid away from her. She smiled thinking about her innocent childhood memories , oh how she wished she could rewind back to those carefree days, those days when all she cared about was barbie dolls, sand castles and mud cakes...

Noticing that Farhaad was nowhere to be seen, she grabbed the broom from the kitchen, and hurriedly went into the store room , she wanted to leave before he returned from wherever he had gone. She wheeled the bag out of the store room hastily , in the process she knocked her elbow onto the door frame. She winced as the pain shot throughout her arm.

She dragged both the suitcases into the passage, just as she pushed the room door open, she heard the front door open with a click. She froze, panic began surfacing, she mentally cursed herself for wasting so much of time sulking and crying instead of utilising her time to get her bags  packed and leave.

Farhaad walked into the passage, his decission made. He stopped abruptly seeing Haaniya in the passage, like a frightened deer caught in head lights, two suitcases on either side of her, her hand on the door.

"Where are you going ?", he snarled, his anger resurfacing.

"I ....um...", she stuttered, frigtened to answer.
