"Happiness is a direction, not a place."

"Pan," Raf said when they were finally alone, "What was that?"

The Hammer girl sighed, trying to figure out how to explain it.

'Remember when we were blasted with the Dark Energon?' Pan signed, biting her lip nervously.

Raf's eyes narrowed as he thought it over, "Yeah?" he asked hesitantly.

Pan hesitated, "Tell him," Alpha Trion told the human, "Tell him about your bond with him. He won't shy away."

"Alright," Pan muttered to the Prime.

The girl breathed out nervously as she tugged on the link between her and Raf.

Raf's eyes widened in shock as a startled gasp left his lips. Surprise and shock filled the bond.

"What?" Raf's mind tried to figure it out. His eyes were wide as his hands shook. Confusion, shock, fear and amazement all flooding through him.

Pan's hands grabbed Raf's to calm him down. The physical contact working better than the link.

Pan closed her eyes as she chose to explain in pictures rather than words. Raf's surprised gasp made Pan feel like she was getting through to him.

When Pan finished showing him the explanation she opened her eyes to look into Raf's awed ones.

"You've," Raf's eyebrows furrowed as he found it difficult to change how he spoke, "Done all that?"

Pan nodded, "Anything to keep you guys safe."

Raf's respect and love for his sister like figure only grew. His arms threw themselves around her and hugged her.

"Thank you," Raf whispered, his overwhelming emotions flooding their link.

Pan nodded, "First things first, we better teach you how to control your side of the link," she teased lightly.

Raf's cheeks reddened slightly as embarrassment flickered through the bond.

Pan's amusement made Raf smile.

🌟

"If we are to have any hope of recovering the Iacon relics before the Decepticons do," Optimus hesitated for a nano-click, "We must divide our resources."

"But, Optimus," Ratchet protested, "When it comes to numbers, we are already at a grave disadvantage."

"Under the circumstances, swiftness of action is paramount," Optimus told the medic gravely, "This is one race that we absolutely cannot afford to lose."

🌟

"Here's a twist," Ratchet announced, drawing Team Prime's attention, "It would appear that the Decepticons have retreated from Manhattan."

"They just up and left?" Arcee asked sceptical, "Without busting up a city block to get to it?"

Pan shrugged easily typing out an answer, "They used subway tunnels."

Jack expanded when the 'bots looked confused, "New York has a whole network of them running beneath the city."

"Since the human population no longer seems to be directly threatened, maintaining our disguise will be necessary," Optimus said, his voice going all comanderish, "Arcee, Bumblebee, you are the best choices to navigate through such a densely populated area."

"Optimus," Jack interrupted as he and Pan shared a look(With Pan signing an eight), "New York has more than 8 million people. The odds of being spotted by at least one of them are pretty high, even if they are headed underground."

"Where are you going with this?" Arcee asked her charge.

The four humans grinned as they each shared a look with each other, "You're gonna need a face man," Jack spoke for them, he winced at the unimpressed look he got from Optimus, "Someone who can speak on their behalf. A human who can run interference if their cover gets blown."

"Well, I've actually been in subway stations," Miko spoke up, "I grew up in a major metropolis, unlike Mr."I've never been outside Jasper, Nevada"."

"I have been to Cybertron," Jack reminded her.

"Cybertron doesn't have subways," Pan's phone pointed out as she and Raf high fived.

"Does it?" Jack challenged.

Raf grinned knowingly as Pan smirked, Jack's confidence wavering slightly.

"Agent Fowler's field experience makes him our best candidate," Optimus said, shaking his helm at the teens before looking to the Agent.

"Banana fish!"

Pan and Miko giggled at the Agent, "If he weren't still recovering for his encounter with the Decepticon warship," Ratchet pointed out, making the Prime sigh.

"Which we survived without incident," Miko pointed out, a little smugly.

"Very well," Optimus relented, "Miko, Panacea, and Jack will accompany Arcee and Bumblebee."

"Yes!" Miko cheered.

Raf frowned. A pout on his lips.

"Don't worry," Pan told him quickly, "I'll keep you updated."

Raf smiled gratefully to her, "Thanks," he managed to chirp.

"Initiate transport, and triangulate coordinates of the other three relics," Optimus said to Ratchet.

🌟

"Whoa," Jack said as he looked at the tall buildings of New York.

"Of course, it's no Cybertron," Miko just had to say before Bumblebee sped off to scout ahead with her and Pan.

"All right, face, how do we get underground?" Arcee asked her charge.

"Well, you can't just jump the turnstiles and hope no one notices," Jack shrugged.

Bumblebee's horn honked and made Arcee quickly catch up to him.

"Check it out!" Miko grinned, "Construction."

Pan shook her head at the girl as she felt Raf's amusement.

🌟

Pan sighed as she glanced at her phone. The signal slowing getting weaker and weaker. But despite her phone's signal getting weaker, her link with Raf seemed to get stronger, confusing the girl.

"You, alright?" Raf managed to ask her.

Pan hummed back, "Yeah," she said before her eyes widened.

"'Bee!" Pan shouted at the same time as Jack's, "Bumblebee, don't move!"

The scout froze as he turned to look at them with wide optics, "The third rail. It carries electricity to power the subway trains."

"One touch and zap!" Miko added on helpfully, "You're fried."

Bumblebee's optics widened as he stumbled around, his peds almost tripping himself up as the other four kept walking.

"He must have learned about that on TV or something," Miko said.

"Or something," Pan mimicked her and Raf laughed.

A short while later and a certain someone was getting impatient.

"Are we getting any closer?" Jack asked.

"Triangulating the coordinates is one thing but figuring out how to reach them through this maze is another," Arcee told her charge, an amused look in her optics.

The five paused and looked at a human-sized doorway, "Drilling," Arcee said.

"It's coming from this way!" Miko, the ever so brilliant girl said before running down the hallway.

"Miko!" Jack groaned before he and Pan were chasing after her, "Miko, what is your-"

A bright light made the three teens stop and cover their eyes, "Hold it right there!"

"Scrap," Miko, Jack and Pan muttered.

"What are you kids doing down here?" the man in front of them asked.

"We're on a field trip with our school," Miko invented quickly, "But we got lost."

"Oh, really?"

"I told him we should stay with our group, but Leonard here," Miko gestured to Jack, "Insisted we search for fossils."

Pan nodded in agreement, her amusement with the situation flooding over to Raf.

"My bad," Jack shrugged.

"I want to go home!" Miko cried, before looking hopefully at the man, "Can you help us, mister-"

"Vogel," Vogel said, "But you can call me Vogel."

"So, ever ride a sweeper train?" Vogel said, waving his hand dramatically at the train.

The three teens shared a look before following after the man, the two Autobots shared a look as they watched them go.

🌟

"And this section was added in the '30s as part of a public-works project," Vogel said as he drove the sweeper train.

"Fascinating," Miko sighed, rolling her eyes.

Vogel's eyes twinkled with an odd look, "But these old tunnels have a dark side, too," he said dramatically, "Strange creatures have been said to lurk down here. Giant snakes, albino alligators, even mole men."

Miko's eyes lit up with excitement as she looked around. Pan chuckled quietly as Jack sighed at the girl.

"But those are just people who live down here because they have no place else to go, right?" Jack asked the man, a faint trace of nerves in his voice.

"That's what the media wants you to believe," Vogel grinned, before leaning in close to the trio, "But I say, they're from outer space."

Jack and Pan shared a look at that, before taking a double take as they noticed the missing Miko, "I'm telling you, Area 51's got nothin' on this place. The aliens are down here, building up their army, plotting to use us humans as slave labor."

Jack and Pan sighed as they quietly sneaked away from Vogel, the three jumping out of the sweeper train.

"Aliens, huh?" Miko grinned, "If he only knew."

Jack groaned as the girls five fived and giggled.

🌟

"Uh."

Jack looked to Pan awkwardly as they faced an interception in the rails.

"Take the right," Solus said, amusement in her voice.

Pan grinned, "Thanks."

Pan grabbed Miko's hand as she pulled her along, "This way," Miko grinned with her friend.

"How do you know?" Jack asked the two girls, "Miko, let's think this through-"

Both girls snapped around to face him, one with an amused grin on her face as she rolled her eyes and the other was livid, "Why? 'Cause you think I don't know what I'm doing? "I'm Jack! Optimus picked me to go to Cybertron, so I must know everything!"," Miko snapped.

Pan sighed as she waited for the two to sort out their differences.

"Okay, Miko, seriously if that's what's bugging you, then why didn't you say something before?: Jack asked her.

Miko scrunched up her nose as she crossed her arms and turned away from him, "I've been holding it in."

"Since when do you hold anything in?" Jack asked, his eyes wide, "Look, it's not like you don't contribute. Just yesterday, you helped take down a psychotic Decepticon warship. This isn't a competition! I-"

Pan actually jumped when a touch light was flicked on, "Lost, huh? You three are gonna have to explain yourselves to the New York transit authority."

Miko winced as she leaned closer to Jack, "I think we should tell him the truth."

"Right," Jack said hesitantly, "The truth is we lost our dog."

"You're wasting your breath," Vogel told them with narrowed eyes.

Miko elbowed Jack the same time Pan did, and the boy winced.

"The real truth," Miko said.

"We're trying to prevent aliens from digging up a powerful ancient relic so they can't use it to destroy our planet," Pan typed out.

Vogel blinked in surprise, Pan's typing being the first thing he's heard from her at all, before his eyes narrowed in suspicion, "I swore I heard something weird and high-pitched earlier today something that wasn't the crew drilling over on track 5."

🌟

"Mole men! Metal ones!" Vogel gasped as the sight of Knockout and the Insecticon came into view.

"Actually, Decepticons," Miko sighed.

"And they have Arcee and Bumblebee!" Jack gasped.

"Vogel, this thing has another gear?" Pan asked, the man didn't miss a beat.

"Abso-Freakin'-Lutely!"

Pan was rewarded with the sight of Knockout's perfect finish being scarred as he was pushed between the side of the tunnel wall and the sweeper train.

Vogel suddenly tried to slow the sweeper train down, "Uh-oh, not good. Brake line must have been torched."

"We can't stop?" Jack exclaimed.

Miko didn't see the issue, "No big deal. These tracks go 'round for miles, right, Vogel?"

Vogel looked grim, "Not this one."

"This track dead-ends, as in crash and burn?" Jack said, his eyes wide.

Pan gulped at the same time as Miko, "I'm really starting to hate trains!" Miko muttered.

Suddenly the train shook.

"Whoa! What was that?"

Jack and Miko grinned as they saw Arcee.

Vogel's eyes widened as he saw the femme, his hands going to the axe on the cupbaord, only to stop when Pan's hands grabbed his wrists.

Pan shook her head at him when he looked at her confused and startled, "She's on our side."

Vogel just nodded in surprise. The Hammer girl's voice, despite being quiet from misuse, was rather melodious and musical.

"Arcee, the brakes are shot!" Jack shouted over the sound of the train tracks being passed over by the sweeper train.

"Is there any kind of emergency override?" Arcee shouted back.

"N-No, ma'am!" Vogel stammered nervously, "But there is a switch-track control up ahead. If you can just adjust the pole rod," Arcee gave him an odd look, "You'll know it when you see it. It'll re-route us to another line."

Arcee nodded before backflipping and transforming into her alt-mode

"Did she just turn into a motorcycle?"

Pan's light chuckles made Vogel grin sheepishly.

The four humans watched as Arcee speed of before they turned back to spot the Insecticon flying after them.

Vogel's face scrunched up as he looked at the teens, "And that would be?"

"Trouble," Jack said, groaning lightly as Miko and Pan shared a look.

The four humans quickly made their way to the front of the sweeper train, only to panic as the lever that Arcee was pulling broke.

"Scrap!"

"Uh-Oh!"

The femme quickly started to try and kick the switch-track, only for Arcee's optics widen as she watched as the sweeper train came closer and closer.

Pan glanced at her friends and Vogel, then bit her lip as she focused on the switch-track, her eyes glowing a faint purple.

A small push from the Hammer girl and the tracks shifted.

Arcee's optics widened in shock before a force was lifting her carefully off the track just before the sweeper train could hit her.

Arcee breathed out in relief as the sweeper train disappeared around the corner.

Meanwhile, on the sweeper train, Pan was trembling as her eyes returned to normal, "I'm, so-so-so-so-so-so sorry," She whispered.

"It's fine, Panacea," Alpha Trion said to the girl, his elderly presence washing over her.

"Alpha," Solus said, shaking her helm, and the mech stepped back

"Hoo! We're in the clear," Miko said, her eyes drifting over to Pan who was still shaking.

"Still need a way to stop," Vogel pointed out, before realising his own words, "Beside slamming into a wall, I mean."

Their eyes suddenly widened as they turned the corner to see Bumblebee on the tracks, "Watch out!"

"Bumblebee!"

Pan glanced up when she heard their shouts, confused as to why they were worrying for a second before facepalming herself when she realised.

"And I quote: "You know too much"," Vector grumbled.

Pan grinned sheepishly.

"Bumblebee!" Miko called as they jumped out of the sweeper train(Knockout's scratched and dented frame laying in front of it), "Dude!"

"H-How did you not get mashed?" Jack asked the 'bot.

"Phase shifter," Arcee explained, (Pan shared her amusement with the Primes), "Handy when you need to pass through solid objects. Or vice versa."

"No. No-o-o-o-o!"

The four humans and two Autobots turned to see a pissed off Knockout, "You scratch my face, I scratch yours!"

Bumblebee and Arcee fired up their blasters and Knockout roared in frustration before speeding off.

"Oh," Jack said when he realised Vogel was still there, "He knows. Do we have to take him with us?"

Vogel's eyes lit up with a mix of excitement and worry, "To the mother ship?"

Pan couldn't help herself as she smothered her giggles. Arcee and Bumblebee looked amused as well.

Miko's eyes lit up with an idea, "I think I have a workaround."

🌟

"Mr.Vogel, this is special agent William Fowler of the United States government.

You are hereby deputized as an honorary agent for the department of, um interstellar relations."

"Thank you, sir," Vogel said, handing the phone back to Pan who gladly took her phone back(What? Of course she had saved Fowler's number on it), "So you folks will be in touch?"

"Abso-Freakin'-Lutely!" Miko grinned.

"Uh-uh," Arcee said, "But until then, we need to maintain complete radio silence."

"It's been an honor," Vogel saluted the femme who did the same to him(admit awkwardly) before following after the teens and Bumblebee/

Jack looked like he swallowed a lemon, "Good call, face," He complimented Miko.

"Eh," Miko shrugged, "I understand big-city people who spend way too much time below ground."

Pan laughed, the earlier events at the back of her mind.

"One relic down, three to go," Arcee said, a small smile on her derma, "Let's hope the others are having similar results."

The 'bots transformed and the three teens climbed in/on.

Here's Chapter Twelve.

So, Pan has a supernatural ability. Huh.
What do you think it is?

Sorry for missing Friday's update. I don't really have a reason why I missed it, sorry.

Update: 7th July 2019: I have currently hit a roadblock with this book. Sorry to those who are reading Pan's story.
(Guys, I'm upset too; writers block sucks!)
But I have several other works that I'm doing to hopefully make the nightmare-writers-block disappear. Fingers crossed!

Hope you enjoy the covers I've redesigned!

Hope you enjoyed!
