Chapter 1
The chair Preston awoke in was cold, the room dark enough to hide what it contained, but lit enough thanks to the massive computer screen that had the virus commander's wires plugged into and trapped that he could make out part of the room. His virus was eerily quiet in his system as he lifted his heavy head to take in his surroundings.
Alone, cuffed to the chair with special power-inhibiting cuffs, and worst of all, in a room that glowed with neither blue or red. The situation screamed odd to the commander, and one jerk against the computer system showed that there was no escaping for him or his wires, leaving him vulnerable to reprogramming, erasing, or turning if his captor pleased to do any of the following.
Preston heaved a sigh of frustration at the inability to escape and slouched backwards in his seat, waiting for his captor to appear.
When the person responsible for his capture came into the dim room, the virus commander was nearly blinded by the bright white hallways outside, and then the same intensity of light flooding his room. With a grunt, he closed his eyes to shield them, and when he could finally open them again, he saw the face of the wired. Now that the man was closer, he could get a better view of the odd uniform that he wore.
The uniform started up at his head with his bright red headphones with blue accents, which was never seen before in the System. Then came his goggles over his eyes showed the blue coding of Preston's systems, but also a strange white colored coding underneath that, again, hadn't been seen before. The jump suit uniform that was every android's basic outfit was all white with red buttons and blue accents, the solid white boots he wore also mimicking the same design. Over his heart and on the outside of each boot also laid a strange emblem of some kind that Preston had never seen before.
The wired hummed as he looked the commander over, the blue coding glowing in his goggles to show he was looking through his system. "You've got an impressive system. I see why those bugs didn't instantly erase you when they hit you."
Preston instantly glared at him after hearing that. "That was your doing?"
The wired ignored the question, seemingly finding satisfaction with his searching and letting the coding fade from his glasses. "It's a shame your system will go to waste, though. Motherboard won't allow this mistake in the system to keep on."
Mistake in the system? Motherboard? What was this man talking about? Before Preston could verbally ask any of these questions the door opened again and a female walked in. Aside from the matching uniform to the wired, Preston could tell she was a hacker, and a very high leveled one at that.
"Mark, Motherboard told us not to be here. She wanted to see him when he first woke up, and didn't want us involved."
The wired, Mark, grunted. "Had to see what Motherboard was keeping under the radar. Now I see why. His mate killed my brother's son," he narrowed his eyes in hatred at the commander. The woman sighed.
"C'mon. We have our assignments we need to tend to." Mark grunted in reply and quietly went out the door with the girl, leaving Preston alone yet again.
The commander huffed in frustration as he tried to get a glance of the console holding him captive. 'Virus?' He called to his program, wondering what the little guy was doing.
Fear struck him hard when there wasn't an answer, and when he still got no response after shouting mentally for his virus, true helplessness set in. He realized for the first time in his life as an android he was alone, and the thought terrified him.
