Rookie

'Bzzzzzz' 'Bzzzzz' 'Bzzzz' 'Bzz-'... "Hello?" I say groggily as I am just now waking up from a deep sleep. "Mr./Mrs. (L/N,) Its Captain Fowler. Congratulations, you got the job." He said in an upbeat tone. This of course woke me right up. "Are you serious?!" I practically scream over the phone while jumping out of my messy bed. "Yeah kid, You start today. Get here as soon as you can, and we will be able to assign you a partner slash trainer." He said before hanging up. 'TODAY?!?!' I mentally screamed before looking for a decent outfit to wear.

I scanned my small closet and found a nice casual outfit nothing too flashy, just a (F/C) hoodie, a black overcoat, a pair of jeans with 'fashionable' holes in random areas, and a pair of black and white sneakers.

I threw a bunch of my papers in an old backpack, rushing out the door seeing Ralph just now finishing breakfast and ran up to him with a big smile on my face. "I got the job! Can't talk right now! I'll call you if I'm not busy!" I yell after hugging him goodbye and grabbing the egg and bacon filled wrap. "Bye (Y/N)! Ralph will see you soon!" He yelled before I ran out of the apartment door. I ran down the stairs, jumping down the rest of them out of impatience, and quickly ran through the apartment lobby to the doors and straight outside where my car was parked waiting for me. I threw my bag into the passenger's seat, taking off not too long after, not wanting to make a bad impression on my first day and, quickly but carefully made my way over to the Detroit Police Department.

I pulled up in front of the police department, jumped out of my car and, quickly ran through the glass doors. I jogged through the building, and practically ran into Captain Fowler's office doors but thankfully stopped myself in time. I looked around while slowly opening the glass door. "Mr. Fowler?" I said in a hushed tone while poking my head into the doors. Fowler swiftly looked up from his computer and motioned me to come in. I obeyed and awkwardly shuffled into the room and sat down in the same creaky office chair from before. "Now Mr./Mrs. (L/N) do you get squirmy when you see blood or any kind of fatal injury?" Fowler asked me as he stood from his seat. "No sir." I said in a sort of monotone voice. "That's good because I'm pairing you up with Detective Gavin Reed and he will be training you and will assist you on missions." He said while walking around the desk. "He has another partner but I'm sure that won't be a problem for him considering the fact the guy hasn't deviated yet. So in your case you have two partners to work with. Will that be a problem?" Fowler said stopping and looking down at me. "No it will not." I say straightening my back. Fowler nods in approval, walks back over to his seat and, pulls out some files. "These are files saying you're approved and, you were assigned with Reed cause he might not take lightly to another partner." I nod in response and take the files as he is handing them to me. "Thank you Captain." I say shifting around in my seat. "You are dismissed, goodluck." Fowler says before going back to his computer. I stand from my seat and exit the office, slowly closing the door.

I straighten up my outfit before looking for Detective Reeds desk and delivering the files.

In no time I fine detective Reed's desk right across from the coffee/break room, sadly I have no idea what this detective Reed looks like, So I'm stuck here. 'Thank You anxiety for making me insecure about asking a simple question... Fuck.' I scream in my head. With some hesitation I sit at an empty desk across from his and wait for him to return.

Not too long after I see the same man from last week walk into the office with a black suit vest buttoned over a sort of therum blue dress shirt, a pair of black dress pants and, some nice dress shoes. He scans the room, locks eyes with me, walks over with a smile and sits on the desk in front of me. "Hello, my name is Connor. You must be the new officer." He says stretching his hand out towards me. "Yes, I'm (Y/N). How'd you know?" I say while shaking his hand. "I have access to most files, Including new members of the team in my mind palace." He said poking at his LED. That was really fascinating somehow. "Wow. That's neat man." I say adjusting in my seat for a second. Connor chuckled and thanked me. "No prob." I say nonchalantly.

We sat in silence for a few minutes just looking around the department until Connor spoke up. "It seems your waiting on something, am I correct?" He asks me raising one of his eyebrows. "Oh, yes I am. Do you happen to know a Detective Gavin Reed?" I ask the android. "Yes, I am familiar with him." He says with a bit of an annoyed tone. "Great! Do you know where he is? He's supposed to be my trainer slash partner." I say happily. Connor slightly grimaced at my words but let out a small chuckle. "He's actually in the building, but my guess is you have no clue what he looks like. Am I right?" He asks. "Correct, Could you show me where he is?" I ask leaning back in my seat. "My partner isn't here yet so sure." He said before jumping off the edge of the desk. "Thank you." I say happily as I stand up.

Connor leads me swiftly to the break/coffee room stoically, stops in front of a man not much taller/shorter than me with a dark brown leather jacket, a grey v-neck t-shirt, an obvious handgun hollister, a casual pair of jeans, and a pair of black boots. "Detective Gavin, I have some news for you." Connor says standing straight. 'So this is Detective Gavin' I mentally note. "Fuck off, you plastic prick." Gavin snaps. A male android standing tall above Gavin examines me and looks to Connor with cold eyes. It was actually kinda scary. "Sorry Detective but, I cannot." Connor speaks firmly. "This is the new recruit, (Y/N). Go ahead and introduce yourself." Connor says putting a hand on my shoulder. "Hello detective Reed, I'm (Y/N), as you already know. But you have been assigned to be my trainer slash partner until further notice, if you wish for more info Captain Fowler provided me some files to fill you in on more information." I say professionally. Gavin stands straight and looks me in the face instantly giving me goosebumps, and not in a good way. "So Jeffery's given me a rookie to sit and take care of like a fuckin' baby, huh?" He hisses as he stalks closer to me. "Looking like a brat who can't even stand up for themselves in a school yard." He says now standing a little too close for comfort. This makes my blood boil, so being the patient, but frustrated person I am, I grip the strap of my backpack and let out a slow breath to calm myself down. "Sorry for the inconvenience Detective, but, I have no power of what has been done." I say strictly already getting tired of this guy. "What, so are you a plastic prick like the douchebag next to you. Acting like your so much better than everyone else, is that right?" He barks. I sit and don't do anything until he tries to shove me out of frustration. I swiftly put him in an arm lock and force him to his knees, firmly holding him down as he struggles to break free. "Let me go dipshit." He practically yells. Before I can say anything more a hand grasps my shoulder. I follow the arm of the person to see the android from before, looking at me as he did Connor before. Now getting a better look at him I realize he looks very similar to Connor but, taller, lighter eyes, and still wearing his provided cyberlife clothing. "Remove you hands from Detective Gavin." He says in a deep monotone voice. "Detective Gavin, I will Release you. I will just let you know that if you don't want me as a partner you can tell Captain Fowler and hopefully in your case get me removed from the team." I say through gritted teeth.

I quickly let him go and try to back away from the pissed detective only to bump into the taller android who is now looking down at me. 'SHIT!!!' I mentally scream to myself. The android averts his eyes from me to the frustrated detective. I look back over to Gavin to see him pacing around trying to calm himself down.

Soon when his face is no longer beat red he looks towards me, then struts over to the keurig and, makes himself a warm cup of coffee. He takes a sip and lets out a deep sigh, almost as if he were relieved. He cleared his throat and turned around to look at me. "Listen kid, I've got a lot on my plate so I probably won't be able to train you at all until things are settled down. I will take your offer tho, having this big ass guy around is constantly giving me a migraine, so yeah no hard feelings but we might get rid of you if Cap. allows it." He says in a sarcastic tone. I nod in response. "In the meantime I'll have 'Nines' train you, and hopefully he can learn a thing or two From you." He says a little calmer. I nod again trying to ignore the prying eyes of the android still behind me, and turn towards Connor who was silently watching everything unfold. Gavin follows my gaiz and shakes his head. "I'm off to the pot. 'Nines' watch the kid while I'm gone." He says throwing away a now empty coffee cup. I sigh as he leaves the room to the other side of the office. "That was interesting." Connor says fixing his bowtie. "And on my first day..." I say breathly.

A man seamingly in his late fifties rounds the corner and locks eyes with Connor. "Jesus Christ Connor, where have you been!?" The man says charging at him. "Just showing the new recruit their partners lieutenant." He says gesturing to me. The man turn towards me giving me a good view of him only to recognise him as the man connor was following behind last week. "So your the rookie?" The man says looking me up and down. "Yes sir." I say shrugging off the events of last week. "Huh, well nice to meet you Mr/Mrs?..." Hank trails off in a questioning tone. "(L/N)." I say quickly. "(L/N), nice." Hank says before stretching his hand out. I shake his hand and smile warmly. I look over to Connor, and see him rapidly blinking indicating he is receiving something. "Lieutenant Andersone, Captain Fowler wishes to see us." Connor says politely. Hank curses under his breath and looks at me. "Nice meeting you, (L/N)." Hank says casually. "Call me (F/N) or (N/N). But nice to meet you too Lieutenant Anderson." I say kindly. Hank smiles at me and walks out the opening. Connor follows behind him but not before smiling and waving goodbye. I send him the kind gesture back.

I sigh as they leave to the office and go t make myself a large cup of (black/creamer filled) coffee. Not as good as Zee's but it was okay. I let out a deep sigh and headed to the desk I was seated at before not hearing the massive androids light steps. I flop into the swirvy office chair, sit my coffee down and relax in the seat, closing my eyes, casually swaying from side to side. Soon I lost my footing but no big deal, but oddly my leg bumps into something hard. I open my eyes to see 'Nines' as Gavin calls him standing tall and staring down at me with a threatening gaze. I jump in surprize, and throw myself and the chair off balance causing me to fall. I close my eyes tight ready to get the air knocked out of me, but it doesn't come but instead I sit still. I open my eyes to see Nines holding the chair, keeping me from falling by balancing my weight with his. "Officer (L/N) I inform you shouldn't lean too far back in your seat, or it will lead to situations like this, and I cannot stop you everytime." He says while putting the chair back on all five legs. I sigh in relief. "Thanks uh.. Nines? I'll think next time." I say smiling up at the android. "Actually, what do I call you cause Gavin calls you nines because of your model but do you prefer an actual name?" I ask the android. He tilts his head to the side in confusion. "What do you mean?" He asks questioningly. "Do you have an actual name except RK900 or Nines?" I ask him. His LED turns yellow and blinks a bit before answering my question. "My programed name is Connor." I chuckle at the android. "Well I can't call you that, there'd be chaos in the department. Hmmm.." I sit and think of names to call the android. "How about Colin?" I ask in an upbeat tone. The android looks off as if he were thinking. "Colin, I like it." He says smiling at me his LED blinking blue. I smile up at Colin. "That's good."

I turn to see Gavin rounding the corner from the restroom. Silently I hope he is at least a little calmer. He walks towards his desk and flops down  in his seat, turning to face me. "So let's talk."
