6 》Flamboyant Violin
I wake up early in the morning, dreading what's to come already. Today's the day we meet again, unfortunately with that Miyazono girl. My arms reach up towards the ceiling and I lengthen my legs with all my might. While stretching, I notice that the sun's rays have illuminated my whole bedroom. Maybe it won't be so bad after all.
Good day indeed, I'm first here again. I wait under the bright pink blooming trees in a blue toned outfit. I don't really own any colourful clothes, they don't suit me. I take in a big breath of spring air and sigh in regret. Some friends I have, it's already quarter past eleven and no one has turned up. I'm considering giving up on them and just going back home, when I hear a beautiful melody wafting though the cherry blossoms. It's light and carefree but also has strong emotions weaved through it. I think it's a violin Sonata by Beethoven. In a trance like state, I look around to see where the sound is coming from. Over near the park bench, a street busker is playing. A crowd has already surrounded them, they are very popular. As I cross the street, soon within range of the people, I can here the constant dropping of coins into the case. I join the crowd and listen along with them. Everyone else is captivated by the curious melody. A few people move aside and I see the face of the street busker.
It's Kaori, the girl I didn't want to see today.
The one I'm supposed to be disliking right now, but her fiery desire to play pulls me in.
She's a goddess of warm light.
Her music shines in my eyes, erasing the darkness within them.
We aren't in the park anymore, we are in other world. The passionate violin playing its song for me. It's music has touched my heart. Kaori owns this piece, even if she is casually playing for money. Golden light surrounds her and she smiles. Her smile brings life to all my sorrows.
Her music reaches me.
"She's amazing isn't she?" A random guy says next to me.
"Uh, yeah she is", it's amazing how music can brings people together, no matter who they are. Kaori's music fades into silence and we all clap.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Her face is smiling with praise.
"I'm sorry, but I have to go. I'll play out here again sometime!" Finally, someone who was supposed to be with me today has come to their senses. The crowd splits and soon disappears. I'm left standing alone, watching Kaori pack up her violin. As she closes her case, she makes eye contact with me.
"And what just are YOU staring at, Friend A?" Her eyes send daggers at me.
You always appear where I least expect it. How do you do that?
"I.... ummm.....", I trail off, I start to blush. Oh nooooo this is not allowed to happen. I think fast. "I didn't know you played the violin! It suits you really well, it looked as though it was a part of you.....", I've dragged this on too long.
"It is NOT like a piece of clothing or an accessory! You need to be further educated on what music is AND-" as she's in her murderous state a voice calls out from behind me.
"Oi! Kousei, just what do you think you're doing with Kaori?" It's Tsubaki. Phew. I was about to be smashed to bits by Kaori's violin case. Her hands hover over my head with it. I'm truly grateful and sigh in relief. I sigh a lot, you can tell a lot about my mood when I sigh.
"Oh!", Kaori has been caught by surprise. She rushes over to Watari and they begin a conversation. She acts so innocent, who the hell does she think she is? More like, just WHAT is she?
Tsubaki nudges me in the side.
"Hey, trying to get to her first are we?" She smirks and I start to protest.
"Anyways, she likes Watari and she's totally into him. You wouldn't stand a chance Friend A".
"I know that", Kaori isn't my type. Then again, what is my type! Her mood swings are far too unpredictable, how could anyone handle that? I have a hard time telling myself that I don't like her. My heart thinks the opposite, it was thumping like crazy when she was playing. Am I developing feelings for her? No, no no! She's an interesting girl, let's just keep at that. Watari and Kaori both look at us. They've realised that they've been ignoring me the whole time.
"I'm sorry about what happened in the cafe, Kousei", Kaori apologises with puppy eyes.
"Don't worry about it, I'm okay now so I'll forgive you", at least she's decent enough to realise what her actions have done. I feel like something has been settled between us.
"Where are we going today?" I ask them all. I see Tsubaki and Kaori exchange looks.
"You'll see", Tsubaki is sickly pleased, why? As a group, we walk though the park. Past the freshly scented flowers of the trees winding around the path, little children on the playground and families having their lunch on the benches. It's cheerful and happy, it makes me feel content myself. This emotion is soon replaced with fear as I realise just where we are headed.
Towa Hall leers at me, like a foe of the past.
