- Chapter 2

As days passed by Jungkook observed, she was always busy with work with no time to even talk to anyone. The only time he saw her face was during the breakfast, that too for at most fifteen minutes and as always, she didn't speak anything rather she was focused on reading the business journals at that moment.

He noticed every little about her, be it her habit of getting so deeply concentrated in her work that at times she used to forget that her phone was ringing or working overtime. She was a master of this technique. He had forgotten the last time he saw her returning home early.

Even though married to someone with connections from the underworld, she had potential threats from his enemies but he never stopped her from doing what she loved, except that she was always under tight security from his men. He knew Hana loved her freedom more than anything and he gladly gave it to her because he…

Fell hard for her.

At times he used to blankly stare at the woman busy reading something. Many times she slept on the study table and he covered her with a blanket without destroying her sleep. He remembered, once she had a nosebleed due to stress because of a deal she wasn't able to crack. The collaborator seemed to be a voracious guy. Jungkook brought his entire company under his name and made sure his woman gets the deal she was working hard on, without knowing who owns the company.

The other time he got to know she has a liking for luxury products, especially rare jewels, he made sure to gift her something every month. She didn't use any of those things, that made him quite sad but he didn't lose hope. He still made sure to know her likes, her dislikes, everything that keeps her happy.

Oh! How much he craved to see that smile on her face! Throughout this time, she never smiled, she always had a stoic expression on her face as if she's so tense… so unhappy.

Undoubtedly, he tried to do everything to prove himself capable of her but she never paid any attention to him. The only time they interacted was when their fathers came up for a family meet-up or sometimes, exchanging 'good morning' , 'hello', and all those formalities.

They lived under the same roof but were more like strangers.

Strangers who're bound by marriage.

But one thing remained still in all this time, was the necklace she always wore. It was the same necklace she took from him the first time they met. She must have liked it a lot, for her to always wear it.

He didn't ask her to return the necklace even though it was so dear to him because that's the only thing of him that she possessed.

The only thing that made him feel she was his wife.

He grinned remembering those memories.

-----

"What?" Hana rasped, annoyed as he was staring at her for good two minutes.

"Are you going somewhere?" He inquired in his deep voice.

"You, of all people, are well aware that I have an important meeting today. Don't play with me right as the first thing in the morning." She blurted out with her sharp tongue and huffed a breath. Well, this is the first time she has actually 'communicated' with him rather than being a silent statue. His expression turned stoic with her mean tone. He expected that maybe…

Maybe she'll say "Let's celebrate our wedding anniversary", but from whom was he expecting? Seo Hana loves her profession more than anything and also, he's aware she doesn't have any feelings for him.

He hid the bouquet of flowers he bought for her, below the table because she didn't seem to like even sitting on the same table as him.

Certainly, she was annoyed by the male because he clearly forced her to stay at home for a week without giving any particular reason. Well, for an outgoing and fun loving person like Hana it was as if her oxygen supply had stopped. It made her feel trapped for the last three days and it reached her limits. She couldn't stay home anymore, leaving all her work without having a valid reason. Her schedule was delayed and messed up already; she didn't want any more obstacles.

This deal was important to her.

"I see. Well, the meeting can be done after a few days. I think I made it clear the other day, you aren't allowed to leave home." He uttered, trying his best to sound calm but Hana's patience just hit its limit.

"This deal is fucking important to me! I can't delay it any longer! You know what? Do anything you want, I will go to work. Enough of being trapped in his huge mansion!" She yelled, getting up from her seat and he banged his palm on the table, getting frustrated by her. Well, his patience has a limit too.

"Dare to step a foot out of here and I'll make sure you–"

"What will you do huh? Kill me? Just like what you do to all those people? Oh, I'm well aware of your power Mr. Jeon and let me tell you I absolutely hate sick people like you who kill someone on a daily basis." She blurted out poisonous words which acted like a stab on his heart.

Does she think that bad about him?

Certainly, yes.

He was about to speak further but their argument got disrupted when Mr. Seo's voice ranged in the room.

"Hana! What are you saying?!" He turned, amused by her bravery. Well, of all people, he's certain Mr. Jeon shows hell to those who dare to raise their voice against them and Hana won't be an exception will she?

"I'm sorry father, I lost control. I was furious." She instantly apologized as she respects her father and father in law.

"It's alright, dear. Arguments are common between couples but I'm curious why my son is being a brat here?" Mr. Jeon glanced at Jungkook who walked towards them, his eyes portraying deep emotions and what stood out the most was 'pain'.

The elder was taken aback by what he witnessed just now, his son, who's known to be a ruthless person, felt pain because of this girl. He grinned proudly thinking he made the right choice to make her his daughter in law because if not for her, his son might have become a heartless monster.

Jungkook seemed to have a heart only when Hana came into his life. The cold, stone hearted man had a soft corner only for his woman. Certainly, she meant a lot to him. Mr. Jeon observed this the day his son came up to him with the idea of marriage. He didn't expect him to fall this hard for someone. His son finally had a little beam of joy in his life again since his mother passed away.

"Apologize to Jungkook right now! You're such a nasty daughter!" Mr. Seo scolded Hana.

Now, she felt a sudden pang in her heart. Tears made their way in her eyes.

She was forced to live in this huge mansion all alone for a week putting all her work at stake and without a valid reason and her father says she's being obscene?

"I'm nasty? Father, tell me something… was I nasty when I married someone whom I had no feelings for just so that I can see you happy? Was I nasty when I tried to do everything to please you? Tell me, am I nasty when I'm literally living with a person I don't like?! FUCKING TELL ME!" She roared, making Mr. Seo flinched by her sudden outburst. She let out all her inner thoughts because it felt as if whatever she had done until now was just a waste. Tears trickled down her face.

Her father never appreciated her and even now, he wasn't being by her side.

"Language, Hana! I can't believe you're being so selfish!" He scolded yet again and this turned out to be the saturation point for her.

"You never loved me, father. You only care about business." She proclaimed, crying.

Jungkook saw everything and a muscle flexed in his jaw, his hands turned into fists witnessing those tears in her eyes. He never knew she was going through so much behind his back. He always wondered, why didn't she speak? Turns out she didn't like him at all. But at this moment, he felt like giving a jaw-breaking punch on Mr. Seo's face. He saw her crying for the first time and it was because of this man whom he calls 'father in law' and he won't budge to peel off his skin for giving such torment to his wife.

Well, he was about to, until Mr. Jeon sensed the tension and took Mr. Seo outside to give the couple some space to mend up.

"Hana…" He whispered and raised his hand to caress her cheek but she harshly wiped her tears and glared towards him. Those reddened eyes sure was a heartbreaking sight.

He never wished to make her sad. He wanted to give her all the happiness. But he never noticed, she disliked the very existence of him.

"Leave me alone." She uttered and sprinted out of the mansion without informing where she's headed to.

The bodyguards tried to follow her but she made sure to let them stay where they were.

"Don't you dare follow me!" She yelled, frustrated and sprinted out of the house and got inside her car. She drove at an insanely high speed and broke the main entrance of Jeon's property, not letting anyone dare to stop her.

Jungkook too, followed her along with his men but they lost track of her car as she drove at an inhumane speed. There were trackers installed on her car and device but being the smart ass she was, she broke the tracker on her car and switched off her device. He called over the Seo Hotel's main office and her secretary informed Hana didn't come up to work either.

"Shit!" He cursed under his breath as the call wasn't getting connected.

He called Yoongi, the hacker of the gang to locate Hana. Meanwhile, he was internally getting creeps because there's a reason he didn't let her go out.

His prime enemy - George Vigilanco, the boss of the Vigilanco gang is staying in Korea for a week and the raven head was certain, this man won't return to Korea without a reason.

His father murdered Jungkook's mother and now, he doesn't want history to repeat itself.

This is why he wasn't letting Hana go out. The Jeons and Vigilancos have been at war for years by now and Jungkook's marriage with Hana was kept private for a reason – he didn't wish his woman to be made a scapegoat for his work.

-----

It has been an hour since Hana went missing. Well, the woman was having a drink right in the morning at her favorite bar. She ordered a whisky for herself and chunked it down in one go. Another glass of alcohol went burning down her throat and it somehow helped her calm down and engulf those hurtful words by her father.

She felt as if she was used and betrayed. All her life she worked hard even compromised with her happiness just to make her father proud and what did she get in the end?

Two most heartbreaking words.

Nasty daughter.

Her grip on the glass increased and she groaned and banged her fisted hands on the bar counter. A lone tear made it's way from the corner of her eyes and sniffed gulping another drink.

Jungkook was waiting for the hacker's call and soon he got a call. He picked it up without glancing at the number.

"What a good day to see Mrs. Jeon right in front of me!" The person exclaimed, grinning wickedly and Jungkook's jaw clenched listening to his voice.

It was George Vigilanco over the call.

"Dare to touch a strand of her hair, I'll fucking cut your hands!" He growled, vexed but the other person let out a devilish laugh and his next words made the raven head's blood boil.

"Well, she's a beauty.. Jeon. She'll make a good companion in bed."

"Motherfucker!" Jungkook growled, his anger reaching it's highest point.

"Motherfucker!" Vigilanco cut the call letting out a curse. The corner of lips curved up into a wicked smirk.
