Chapter Nineteen: Welcome Ceremony

A/N: This actually should have been in the last chapter but I decided to separate this from that since I noticed that the last chapter was too long already.

When we finally reached our classroom, it is already filled up with thirteen people the same age as us who stared at the four of us. Literally, they will be my classmates. All of them kept staring at me and some women seemed jealous at Kaori. There are also some women who took their phones out and I already know what is next, they probably would want to have a picture of me.

The four of us quickly chose our seats at the back because it's the last open space for the four of us, and as I have noticed, the classroom is still the same as other schools, provided that we have a table in front of us. The only difference between my old school and Okutsu, our board wasn't a chalkboard anymore but a whiteboard.

Also, when I looked around, there were G-Clefs and F-Clefs pasted on the right side of the Whiteboard. Under it is an empty memo board. When we were all seated already, our adviser finally came and smiled at us. Our adviser is a young, Japanese woman, probably in her thirties. She wrote her name on the board as Ijikawa Thea. She does have blond hair, brown eyes and she is very fair. Boys practically love her except me who just admired how beautiful she is.

In the midst of all the giggles and everything, she finally told us that she will be guiding us at the Great Hall where we will be meeting more of our teachers, the school officials and our seniors. "Can Arima Kousei stand up?" I heard her speak up.

Everyone stared at me and I obeyed her quickly. "Why, ma'am?" I asked.

"Your father's downstairs and he's looking forward in seeing you in the first Musical Feast of Okutsu College of Music Affiliated High School this new school year. The reporters won't harass you anymore as they have already been organized by the school itself. You will be separated from the other students like Hiroshi Smith, our star violinist in the Great Hall," she told me.

I gulped hard. My father is downstairs?

Suddenly, I found Kaori raising her hand. "Can I come with him?" she asked.

Our teacher definitely was confused and curious why she wants to come with me. When I stared at her, I found out that she was also surprised that she acted so poorly without thinking.

Are we going to make our relationship known this quick?

"Why do you want to go with him? I know you're friends with Arima Kousei but is there something more?" our adviser asked. She totally became beetle red when our teacher uttered those words. She's making our relationship so obvious that when I stared at other girls, they seem to be jealous. I stood up and told our teacher, "She's a very close friend of mine. Can she come with me?"

Ijikawa Thea, our teacher sighed and replied to me, "Then she can come with you."

I went beside her and held her hand, "Let's go?"

Before we both leave the classrooms, she informed us, "You'll go down with us as the other students go to the feast. After that, you can go beside your father."

I felt happy after she said those words. We quickly left our classroom along with my classmates. We were organized in two lanes and we were divided according to gender and surnames and since my surname is an A, I am in front of the nine boys and my girl was a bit farther from the lane of girls. Yes, the school used the Alphabet to line us up, not the Japanese Lettering system. We all went out our classroom silently and when we went out, that is when I realized how many classrooms there are.

There were only four classrooms in our large school and we were all divided according to our talents and grades. I realized that I belong to a prestigious classroom since we were very much few unlike Classrooms A, B and C where there are at least twenty-five students each.

I know it's still few than the other schools. They all giggled after my fellow schoolmates discovered my identity I just wish I could hold Kaori already and separate from them. My chest is stinging which is luckily bearable. I took a bottle of water from my bag and opened it. I drank all of its contents as we all go downstairs until we reached the ground floor.

As I scan my surroundings while we walk down, I became aware that there were a lot of images of great Japanese Pianists, Western pianists, other legendary musicians and Orchestras, plastered on the wall of Okutsu College of Music Affiliated High School. I have also noticed that my school does have complete materials in teaching music because they all have the instruments, classrooms and music halls where students can practice their instruments. Last of all, we passed through a large library that I know definitely contains a number of books including Classical Music Books and musical note key books.

After a few minutes, when we already arrived in a large open space, other students older than us appeared and joined us in an empty, wide space until my bodyguard came to me.

"Kaori is coming with us," I told him.

I left where I am standing and took Kaori's hand quickly. The three of us bowed in front of my adviser to say that we are already leaving my lane until I realized that we are the ones who will be leading everyone inside the Great Hall. Yamato lead me in front of an enormous wooden door that opened automatically after he pushed it slightly. He guided us in while the other students follow us.

The inside of the Hall astounded me. The walls are bronze-colored, there were so many statues around the four-walled hall with a vertical, glass window at the back of a long, wooden table which is slightly elevated, facing the many, round tables all around the hall. I looked up and saw a large, glass chandelier on our top, too. The teachers, the staffs and the Officers of Okutsu Music School are all standing in front of us with smiles, adorned on their faces.

The old students began to sit down at the left side of the aisle while we first years, go at the right side of the aisle. I was asked to go at the right side in front of the Official's Platform while the other students sit farther away from us. At the left side, I saw another man sitting comfortably, probably a senior of mine. I believe he's used to the V.I.P treatment he's receiving. I'm still not used to it. I found my table with three chairs prepared for me, Kaori and Yamato. There's also another empty chair where Kaori sat.

My eyes looked all around the hall. It was at that time I have noticed that there were few media people taking pictures and recording the feast.

Yamato Kento pointed at the black Steinway and Sons piano in front of us to tell me that the school would want me to use it later on. It is also a slightly lower level than the long table placed at the platform. It is at the center of the empty space where the Orchestra plays.

I saw my father, sitting at the left side near the older students's tables. The tables of my schoolmates consist of ten chairs each but I am seating near the teachers. I stared at my senior, sitting on the left side of the aisle. He was older than me and I became aware that he was quickly given a violin. He smiled at the women who gave it to her. "Will I play the piano in front?" I asked him.

"You were asked by the President of Okutsu Music School, President Akito who's already sixty years old, to play the piano but of course, a third year prodigy would join you on stage. He has asked you to play Fur Elise with him," he told me.

"Good day to you, Arima Kousei," someone called me out.

I noticed that the one who spoke was my senpai who was just at the left side of the aisle, earlier. He's a violinist and his green eyes seem excited to see me. That's when I knew that he isn't pure Japanese. His eyes may be small but his blond hair, green eyes and white skin showed that he's half-British. "You're half-British, are you?" I asked him.

"Yes. My mom is Japanese and she wanted me to study music here. I'm Hiroshi Smith," he introduced himself to me. "The Ceremony is beginning. We should sit down."

He sat down in our private table while President Akito who's wearing a white tuxedo, did his speech and after that, he introduced the teachers. Finally, after a few minutes, he finally spoke my father's name. "It is an honor for us that Senator Arima Takahiko sent his son to study here in this Japanese Music School. He was called a Human Metronome in his early childhood but came back on stage as a better person, burying his infamous old name. He returned as a better pianist and now, he is with us to better himself. Well then, let's now meet them," he paused as he call for the two of them to be ready. Hiroshi Smith and I stood up from our respective places and finally, Akito continued speaking, "Let's now meet Arima Kousei and Hiroshi Smith."

We stood side by side and bowed at the same time. I sat down in front of the piano keys and I began playing, soon after, Hiroshi mixed his violin into my piano. Our music astounded everyone and in silence and I realized that we played marvelously. Kaori, on the other hand felt so happy for me, her boyfriend. After we played the musical piece, I finally decided to announce who my girlfriend is. I called on Miyazono Kaori on stage and told everyone that she is my girlfriend. Kaori blushed and she held my hand tightly. The three of us bowed after the marvelous performance.

Hiroshi smiled at me. "I hope you enjoy your stay here, Arima Kousei."

I bowed at him as we both return to our respective places. I have seen another large applause coming from all my listeners which totally made me happy.

I hugged Kaori when we were back in our table.

President Akito faced everyone again and spoke up some things about the school while all the servers gave us the food to finally begin the feast. Kaori looked at me while we eat our food and when I stared at her eyes, I observed that she seemed very much anxious and nervous.

I held her hands. "You always told me that everything will be alright. It's now time for me to say the same thing to you."

Kaori teared up a bit. "I'm nervous. I'm only a normal girl who met someone like you and you already made it known that I am your girlfriend in front of the public."

"You changed me and returned me to where I belong and with that, I am thankful. You deserve my thanks," I honestly told her.

I stood up and went beside her. "Let's go somewhere else? I could see that these feast would go on for a day."
