Okay this chapter is going to be a little different than most of the chapters that I make in this book and other books which are either roleplays,entertaining videos or just lore for my characters and the universe that inhabit,This one will be more of a review from a series I watched during my childhood and grew to appreciate alot more as I got to see it again in recent years and telling my honest thoughts on it,For this one I'll be focusing on the tokusatsu series that also one of my personal favorites that is known as Kamen Rider:Dragon Knight.

Now for starters,at first glance this would seem like a sort of spin off of Power Rangers and I wouldn't blame for thinking that because I honestly thought the exact same thing when I watched this show back when it aired on the CW's saturday morning cartoon block,CW4Kids or Toonzai,However,what Kamen Rider:Dragon Knight actually was,is a western adaptation of the popular japanese tokustasu series known as well Kamen Rider,More specifically it would be adapted from Kamen Rider Ryuki which was about 13 different people who became Kamen Riders that would be at war with one another with the winner of the final battle being granted any wish they so happen to desire and had a dark and serious undertone to it,essentially it would be battle royale type of series but with costumed superhero like people but before Ryuki got adapted into Dragon Knight another Kamen Rider series was adapted before it by Saban Entertainment before it which would be known as Saban's Masked Rider which was based on Toei's Kamen Rider Black RX during the 1990's and this series would have tried to have a more goofier tone to it and use more of the original Black RX footage more akin how they did for Power Rangers however this would not turn out that well and the series would have been cancelled with the liscense being taken away from Saban so they wouldn't be able to continue on with this version of the series with this being the last mark on the Showa Era of the Kamen Rider Franchise after Masked Rider and Black RX

But later on during 2000's,Toei would have revived the Kamen Rider franchise with a new entry in the series in the year 2000 with Kamen Rider Kugga which would have been planned originally (Just like Black RX) to be the final series in the franchise

But of course plans would have changed which would have lead to Kamen Rider Aigto in 2001 after Kugga and then Kamen Rider Ryuki in 2002,Later on in the late 2000's which would be around the time that Disney would have had the Power Rangers liscense taken from Saban,a company known as Adness Entertainment would have later got the Kamen Rider liscene to make a new adaptation of Kamen Rider for western viewers that would be more faithful to the series but also given some of their own creative freedom to the show with the rest being history leading to Dragon Knight's creation and which unlike Masked Rider.It decided to take a more darker and serious tone akin to Ryuki in a way

Now as for the storyline of Kamen Rider:Dragon Knight,The story follows a guy by the name of Kit Taylor who would have just turned 18 and was framed for multiple crimes of petty theft at this exact same time his father would have been mysteriously missing without a trace and with in a few moments Kit would get hallucinations and visions of his father telling him to"Find the advent deck and contract with the dtagon"in which he would have done so after finding a deck of cards and picking out the one that said "Advent"and soon would have seen what looked to be a mechanical dragon which would have flew towards him before give him a red,black and grey suit,this would be the main attire of Dragon Knight with entering a mirror version of his own world with him soon after meeting another figure that would be assist and train that had a bat motif to his design,his name would be Len while his rider name Kamen Rider Wing Knight (Or just Kamen Rider Knight and Ren which were his Ryuki counterpart's names)

Len (Wing Knight) would have told Kit about the other riders being from known as Ventara and about an opposing figure known as Xaviax planned capture people from Earth in order to fix his own homeworld

The show does have good storyline but I do realize how flawed series,which is not a bad thing at all,everything has some flaws to it that can be improved on but the show also knew how to fix up some of them,While in Kamen Rider Ryuki you do see characters including the riders theirselves actually straight up die while Dragon Knight,they don't exactly censor death but more or less created something in it that works as a fate worse than death,this being the Advent Void which is a realm that exist in between Earth and Ventara where riders will be sent if they defeated in battle via the use of a final vent card

This type of card is used as an activator of a finishing move in battle  which on the opponent being either a mirror monster or Rider and once it's used and the opponent is defeated they will dissentigrate almost like the marvel heroes and half of the world's population in Avengers:Infinity War do and end being sent to another realm which in that was the soul stone until someone released them from suspended animation which another way to compare is the Shadow Games and Shadow Realm utilized in 4kids entertainment's english dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! where the one who loses a shadow game will either lose their soul or be trapped in the shadow realm for eternity until someone could release them from there,One of the characters who ended up with this kind of fate was Kamen Rider Incisor (Kamen Rider Scissors) which who would have been defeated by Kit and with Kit regretting it wanted to quit and not be a rider anymore so he doesn't do this to anyone else but Len tells him that he already contracted with the dragon so there's backing out of it

Though two flaws with the show that it had were that  the show had gone through three recap/clip show type of episodes even with the majority of the final episode except for the last few minutes recapping the whole show the events of the previous episode and that the show would have oddly switched up the tone and feeling of the story right before the final battle and series ending which I'm not gonna lie,kinda strange to just switch up the tone and feeling of your show,movie game or book right before the moment that it's about the end,I can understand it being more of like during the middle part of the series but not right before the ending.

As for the characters I really like most of them but some of them are interesting but unfortunately not completely developed enough such as a few of the riders like Kamen Rider Torque,Axe,Strike,and Sting but then there's also characters like Adam who is supposed the Ventara look a like or counterpart of Kit and the original Dragon Knight before him who before the series began would have vented his friends into the Advent Void and betrayed then to work with Xaviax just so that Adam can ensure of his own girlfriend's safety which while it is good that he cared and tried to keep her safe,it was a really scummy move to betray and essentially take out his friends one by one to do it and Len and the remaining Kamen Rider's definitely agreed that was a terrible move and choice especially when Adam returned and now had the Dragon Knight advent belt,cards and armor after Kit would be vented episodes prior to Adam's return and before Kit would been brought back from the Advent Void by Ebulon a.k.a Advent Master

Once Ebulon would have got Kit out of the Advent Void,he would have Kit a deck that was similar to the Dragon deck but seemed to be a more darker,one that Kit feared within his dreams being wla version of himself who have worn a black and gray version of his suit with red glowing eyes that would have vented everyone he cares for including Len but Ebulon convinces that he's able to conquer that fear and not make it happen as they need to continue with the fight for Earth and Ventara,at this point in the series he would have donned the attire of Kamen Rider Onyx (Ryuga) for the remainder of the series except for Episode 40:A Dragon's Tail (The Series Finale/Final Episode)

Now for my opinion on the suits/outfits for the series,they share the same outfits as their Ryuki counterparts (the Wing Knight and Ryuki survive mode suits included)but most of them do look good or great to okay or pretty bad,My favorites for the suits are Dragon Knight's and Onyx though I kinda Oynx just a little more despite them being pretty alternative of each other,The Wing Knight suit,Sting,Siren,Advent Master and Wrath but my least favorites for the suits were probably Strike and definitely Incisor which Incisor looks to be the worst out of all the suits and doesn't look like the motif it went for which was a crab and as for the music,it goes from either fine or good at best even with the intro theme though I wish that theme had more lyrics but I like it for what is and visual on look great at least in my opinion they do,I wish this show did go on for another season and maybe adapt Kabuto or Kugga or any other series with it but it's good for what it is

Though Dragon Knight has got alot of hate from the community that it honestly doesn't deserve to have on it and I think that anyone should honestly give this series a try even if you are already a fan of Kamen Rider or Tokustasu that did not know about this one yet or someone who's looking to get into tokustasu shows,I think this show would be a good place to start or is something good to watch and who knows,you might find something that you might like out of it though the series is hard to find,there are DVDs for the show but not alot of them and most of the episodes are on YouTube for you find them but they are ripped from recordings of the show from when it still aired on TV and I have heard that it's going be on Toei's tokusatu youtube channel but it will be the Japanese dub of Dragon Knight which apparently there was one that aired that aired there that actually got more popular there than Ryuki but overall.Kamen Rider:Dragon Knight is a solid show and would be a good gateway into tokustasu for anyone's for time into it
