[SILVER RAYNE WILLIAMS]

I ZIPPED up the small bag mom had brought for us this morning, watching as she chatted with Vella softly. She. Smiled down at the girl who was finally laughing since last night's ordeal.

Feeling a certain warmth at this, I watched them for a moment longer. Mom was already fully dressed and ready to go but had come by to make sure we were ready for the trip.

"I think that's it," I announced, lifting the small bag.

All I had in here was the dresses mom gave us, a few girly things, and of course, Dad's kit, which I carefully packed, hiding it safely between the fabric.

Mom looked up at me, standing up to her full height, a smile on her face.

"I still can't believe you're here," she paused shaking her head for a moment as if trying to piece it together.

I nodded releasing a breath.

"I wish it was under better circumstances but I guess I'll take what I can get I huffed," I huffed.

Her smile faltered for a bit, acknowledging the situation we were in.

"As do I," she replied softly. I let out a breath my eyes shifting away from her sad gaze to Vella.

"It's time to go, Vella," I called, watching her get out of bed, and walked to my side.

A knock came at the door and I paused, staring at the half-opened door to the shadow of the boy standing in the hallway.

Hunter.

"F-Forgive me. I hope I'm not intruding," he stated pausing in the doorway.

I pursed my lips gritting my teeth.

He couldn't give her one lousy day to re-group, could he? He just couldn't stay away.

See what I meant by a curse? He would suffocate her to death.

Mom glanced back at me uncomfortably, before walking to Hunter, "of course not honey, we were actually coming down," she stated throwing her arm around him, and rubbing his arm, "Silver was just done packing, right cupcake?"

I lifted the bag, "yeah, all ready to go."

His eyes met mine, nodding- offering me a small smile.

I couldn't be so kind as to return it, unfortunately.

His eyes dimmed, drifting to Vella, therefore brightening a bit, "hi," he breathed out, waving a bit, rather nervously.

Vella nodded, her gaze immediately dropping from him as she looked at me, her fingers twining in my mine.

He seemed disappointed at this action, pursing his lips.

"Uh- perhaps we should give them a bit of space, huh darling?" Mom began turning to Hunter, "let's make sure your father has everything packed, you know how he gets," she sang and he chuckled revealing light dimples on his cheeks.

They looked so happy together.

I couldn't help but feel like it was supposed to be me. But I was robbed, robbed of ever being that.

Mom's gaze met mine, "We will meet you downstairs cupcake," she smiled.

I nodded, returning the smile though I couldn't make it quite reach my eyes. She turned and disappeared down the hallway with the boy.

Taking out a shallow breath, I glanced back down at Vella swinging my arm, "you're okay, right Vel?"

"I'm fine," she nodded.

————-

I stared blankly at the enormous private jet that sat a few feet away from me.

Riding with the royals I guess was done in style. I watched the Air Hostesses in Grey uniforms at the bottom of the plane as the men got in first.

"It's pretty huh?" Mom grinned taking a stand beside me. I glanced at her for a moment before nodding.

How did I go from walking to school to boarding a private jet in less than 4 days?

"Fancy," Vella blurted, eyes wide as she looked at it.

"C'mon girls, we can gawk from the inside," Mom chuckled taking Vella's hand. I watched them walk further, hearing Vella giggle, "there's a mini what?!"

"Shhhhhhh," mom hushed glancing back at me with humor whilst I grinned following after.

I walked up the stairs, and the air hostess greeted me warmly, "good morning, malady'"

"Good morning..." I trailed off, eyebrows contorting when I realized she was human.

I walked into the jet, first feeling the eyes of the Lords on me, from Lord Valcon, Lord Graydon, and even Hunter. I walked to the back of the private jet where I found a lone seat.

Glancing sideways, I made sure Vella was alright. She seemed okay talking to mom. Mom was a natural with kids.

I was mad I didn't get to experience it for long.

But somehow, instead of sticking a knife into the throat of the monster that took her, I was riding in his private jet.

My eyes shifted to Lord Valcon who sat ahead, conversing with Lord Graydon.

When the jet started, I stared to the side, watching the clouds shift by. It was my first time flying. I never thought I would ever fly. I expected to feel nervous, but it was sort of like riding a bus, in the air-

I would have to enjoy these few moments. They may never repeat. It was a luxury reserved for the ruling species now.

Dad used to tell me stories of how it felt to fly, and yes, it was every bit as magical as I imagined.

Dad.

I let out a loose breath.

I prayed he was doing as best as he could. Knowing him, he was elbows deep in formulas trying to crack that one formula he told me would change everything. He once said he was close, but that was nearly two years ago.

My gaze strayed back to Vel, who was still conversing with mom. Somebody took a seat opposite me, calmly leaning back with a soft sigh.

It was the strange man from the Dinner table. Sir Eldon was his name if I recalled well.

Sir Eldon snapped his fingers, calling a waiter, "Red wine please and some sparkling water for the lady," he stated when she came, "with a dash of your secret ingredient in my wine, O-la," he stated, stressing the O for some reason.

She smiled bowing lowly.

"As you wish, Sir Eldon," she stated moving back.

My eyebrows arched at this before landing back on the man before me, "Sir Eldon—" I repeated, "A knight?"

"Once upon a time my dear," he grinned, eyes narrowing on me, "Silver, isn't it?"

"It is," I replied, studying him carefully.

I heard they were knights in the Fang war, but it was weird thinking they still existed to be called in literal terms.

"A befitting name. You, my dear, are A wolf poison," he stated.

"No- " I shook my head, "it's Silver, like the moon," I paused, "my name should not be referred to with death," I stated casually.

He seemed surprised at this, but grinned nevertheless, "Do not be so afraid of death, it comes for everyone."

"Everyone dies it's true but not everyone gets to see the moon in its many stages. Life  should be cherished more than the fear of death."

He stared at me for a few seconds, the hostess bringing him his glass of wine. I noticed she had a bandage on her wrist now as she placed my water in front of me.

He chuckled leaning back as he took a sip.

"I like you; I like you a lot. Smart for a human... " he trailed off, head slanting sideways as if trying to see something, "there's something about you... a spark I see-" he paused, "great things Silver, silver like the moon who gives life-" he grinned.

I smiled taking a sip of my water, "smart, but I have a lot to learn."

He nodded, glancing at Vella for a second.

"Yes, if you wish for her to remain protected," his eyes trailed back to me, "get some rest now Moon-dust, the journey is long, and you'll need your strength."

Moon-dust.

Well, nicknames were not such a bad thing I suppose.  Even if they did come from a vampire.

He stood up walking back to his seat with a grunt.  I sighed, turning my head as I watched the clouds moving past... finally dozing off.

-------------

I woke up to the gentle swing of the plane beneath me, yawning as I sat up. I was surprised to find a blanket draped over me, pushing it away, eyes falling on Vella who was sleeping against my mother's shoulder and she, leaning softly against her head, fast asleep too.

A light blanket draped around them both.

"We're about fifteen minutes away from landing," a voice spoke.

I almost jumped out of my seat. I hadn't noticed Lord Graydon seated just opposite me where Sir Eldon had once occupied. With a book in his hand, he casually flipped a page over.

I put a hand over my heart trying to calm myself down. I glanced out the window again, still not seeing much.

"Perhaps you should let me know what your plan is-" he stated laying the book down, eyes steady in mine.

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat for a second, "m-my plan?" I echoed.

He glanced at Vella, " You say your only desire is to protect your sister," he drawled, "she will soon be safely delivered to West House, and Hunter...he is an Arc Alpha wolf, who is more than capable of protecting his mate-"

"But he doesn't have her trust-" I whispered lowly not that it would do any good.

"Time will tell that," he cut casually, "basically Silver," he paused, "you are not needed and could easily be disposed of. I could have killed you in your sleep, or even now... as you breathe, it really wouldn't make a difference, just a stain," he trailed off his eyes glazing over the white leather seats, "Your services are not needed for the Sworn anymore. After she is safely delivered you will head back to Crescent and complete your final year... so you can... what do they call it... graduate?"

My fingers tightened against the chair, jaw clenching. High Born my ass.

He was getting what was coming to him. I leaned forward.

"Listen carefully, My Lord," I gritted, "I will only leave when my sister says I'm not needed, and that will only be when she is not only safe behind those damn West House walls but when she's good and comfortable, when she trusts her "mate" with her life as she does with mine, and when I'm assured that there is no threat that could ever hurt her. I only have one sister, my Lord and my family has been torn apart once already, I assure you it isn't going to happen again," I grilled.

"And even when she's safe," I chuckled madly to his notable surprise, "even with a big strong Arc Alpha-" I prodded, "they'll be things she will want that only her sister whom she's known all her life can give, only a sense of security I could bestow. I trust you want your High Lady to be happy, and fulfilled?" I trailed off, knowing as the Kings hand his duty would be to serve all members of the royal family, "and as for disposing of me, trust me." I trailed off looking him dead in the eye, "you will find that it is more difficult than it looks. "

He paused at this, eyes narrowing on me, drinking me in, before chuckling, turning back to his book, "you are difficult, human-" he mumbled.

I smirked at this, glancing at him for a second, and folded my arm, looking out the window.

We got out of the private jet on the Royal grounds at Fang Court but the Court grounds were so large we had to take a car to the Court itself.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Fang Court itself was frickin enormous. It made Lord Graydon's Mansion which was honestly too large, to begin with, look like a Barbie doll house.

Its massive width spread around, growing around us, making me feel small.

West House Fang Court stood right beside the main Palace, interconnected by a strip. I took a deep breath out as I stared at it, my fingers tightening around my bag.

Mom walked past me with Vella swinging beside her.

"Still gawking I see," she teased as royal guards dressed in deep navy blue with golden embroidered breastplates lined the red carpet that led to a door in the Fang Court heavy large doors.

When I walked in, I was in awe of what I saw.

Everything here was just so humongous. I couldn't believe people lived here. It was ridiculous really. The ceiling was high and our footsteps echoed with every step we took.

Did mom live here? All this time?

I waddled in after the company, noticing that it was busier than I imagined. Maids in grey roamed about everywhere accompanied by guards in blue.

Oh yeah, that's right. There was to be some kind of event tomorrow night. A ball. Prince Roman would officially introduce his Sworn to his subjects.

Prince Roman Ace Veridian.

He was here, in this palace, somewhere in these halls. I scoffed at this thought. I would never get to see him even if I walked for days here. It was just too large.

Judging from the way he took pictures; he didn't seem like the type who liked to be seen either.

Well and good, one less monster.

I moved after mom, weaving through the people, as we headed upstairs, noting that Lord Valcon had disappeared and so had Lord Graydon.

Sir Eldon however, was at the bottom of the stairs with Lord Hunter watching us ascend- well Hunter watched Vella ascend, rather longingly.

I rolled my eyes at this, moving after mom.

The hallways were grander than I would have ever imagined, our footsteps echoing on the glass-like floors.

Portraits of Vampires and werewolves from the two emerging families adorned the walls, and I paused to marvel at each one.

"Come along, Silver," mom called glancing behind her. I nodded not sparing her a look as I stared at a blank picture frame, my eyebrows arching.

"Silver!" Mother sang.

"Coming!" I called back moving after them.

The room we were given was considerably large and Grand.

I couldn't keep up with the extravagance to be truthful. It was too much for my small-town self.

I chuckled as Vella marveled at the span of the bathroom, "Silver!" she gleamed, "we could fit the whole cafeteria in here!" her voice echoed from the bathroom.

"Disturbing thought," I commented as mom grinned walking towards me with a deep sigh, "she is so precious. Reminds me a lot of you, you know. It's how I imagine you were at that age," she grinned.

"She's too much like me, if you ask me," I mumbled with a low sigh, "she's trying way too hard when she's beautiful the way she is," I commented sadly.

"You give yourself too little credit."

I glanced at her essentially and she moved to me pulling me into her arms

My head gratefully leaned against her shoulder as she rocked me gently.

"I mean look at you cupcake, so far away from your Dad, from the only home you've known. Standing up to High Lords and protecting her," she chuckled, "why wouldn't she want to be you?"

I blinked at this, a warmth within me.

"You're precious too," she added in a soft breath.

I shut my eyes at this. I'm precious.

"And you..." I trailed off, shaking my head, as I peered up at her, "still can't be real."

She laughed this off ruffling my hair. We spent the rest of the day catching up. I was eager to tell her everything she had missed about me.
