My head droops as I sit down in my house, my mom fussing over how beat up I looked. I sighed, and looked up. "Mom, I'm okay. But when Asuna and his friends start to attack the village, I have to help fight against them." I say again calmly. "But while I'm doing that, I need you to board up the windows and doors and then stay safe in the basement." At this, my mom frowns. "Kirigaya Kasuto, I have to volunteer at the infirmary. My basic healing magic can help with anybody that gets hurt during the battle. Just... Please, promise me you'll be safe?" She asks, rather sternly. I sigh, and nod. If she knew the plan me and Y/N came up with... I think to myself. Finally I unsheathe my sword from the sheathe across my back and walk outside. The village streets are filled the the noises of people taking stuff like patio chairs inside their houses. My start my slow walk to Y/N's house, but suddenly hear him shouting my name.
"Kirito! Up here!"
I look up, and spot Y/N in a tree about five feet away. I run over, and use my sword to vault into the tree, catching hold of one of the branches and swinging into a position so that I was standing on a branch while leaning against another.
"Hey, Y/N. You okay?"
"Yeah, Kirito." Y/N says, but I can tell he's nervous about the plan. I place my hand on his shoulder, and smile. He smiles back at me, and we enjoy a moment of peace. Suddenly a loud bang rings out, and it startles me. I fall out of the tree and land on my back. What the hell was that? I think to myself. I sit up, and see that someone had dropped a potted plant, and the metal pot had cracked open. I run over to help, and Y/N follows. We help the man scoop up the plant, then watch as he runs inside his house.
"I'm gonna go look for Julie and the others!" Y/N yells over the sounds of people rushing to board up their houses, or lock their stores. And suddenly he vanishes amongst the crowd of people rushing through the village street. I put my sword back into its sheathe, and then make my way towards the town hall. But then a loud booming sound shakes the earth, and everybody screams. I look up, and realize that explosions are spreading across the sky, seemingly out of nowhere.
