Chapter 3
Kotomi's POV
I let out a soft groan as I woke up, my headache from before being twice as bad.
I opened my eyes, only to be blinded by the whiteness of the room. Slowly sitting up, I looked around the room until my eyes landed on a group of boys huddled in the corner of the room, whispering to one another.
I scanned their faces until it registered in my mind who they were.
They are the Ouran High School Host Club. Haruhi and I really did switch bodies. Does that mean I have to act like Haruhi while I'm here?
I focused my attention back on the boys, trying to understand what they were talking about, since they didn't know I was awake.
My heart kind of shattered though when I noticed that my favorite Ouran Boy character was crying and clutching onto his taller cousin.
Yes, Honey was clutching onto Mori crying his eyes out. I couldn't just sit there and let that go on so I decided to make my consciousness known.
"H-honey-sempai why are you crying?" I questioned, my voice cracking at the beginning from lack of use.
At the sound of my voice all six boys snapped their heads in my direction. Honey's face lit up as he saw it was me who spoke.
"Haru-chan!" He cried, jumping on me and crying into my, well Haruhi's, chest.
"H-hey! What's the matter Honey-sempai?" I asked again.
He looked at me with tears still streaming down his face.
"You still remember me!?" He questioned excitedly.
I looked down at him in confusion, "Of course I remember you. Why wouldn't I?"
"When you woke up last time you didn't remember who Tama-chan was, so we asked the doctor about it and he said that since you hit your head you might not remember us!" He explained.
"Oh," I said, reaching up and feeling the bandages on my head.
"Haruhi," I looked over to see Tamaki talking to me.
"Yes?" I asked.
"You remember us too, right?" He questioned, looking like a lost puppy.
I gave a small smile at the expression before answering, "Of course I do, Tamaki-sempai."
His face brightened and he leaped at me with a goofy smile on his face. "I'm so happy my precious daughter is okay!"
"H-hey! Knock it off sempai!" I shouted, trying to sound like Haruhi as much as I could.
Once I finally got Tamaki off of me, with some help from the twins, I stood up with a tired sigh.
"I better get going now. M- I mean dad must be getting worried." I said stumbling over my words.
'It's so weird to call someone my dad, since I haven't had one since I was eight.'
"How about you let us drive you home! You've had quite a rough day." Tamaki offered.
"Hm... I guess if it's just this once," I agreed, too tired to argue.
I decided to tune out Tamaki's cheers of victory and reached down to pick up Haruhi's bag. When I picked it up, I noticed there was something sticking out of it. I opened the bag a little more and was surprised at what I saw.
It was that small black notebook that Haruhi and I got from the black magic room. I stared at the black magic seal on the front as I remember what we had been told.
'If you ever want to speak to each other after you wake up, just write in those notebooks and the words will appear on the other persons..."
I shoved the notebook back into the bag as I noticed Kyoya looking at me from the corner of my eye and decided to investigate into it later.
I turned back to the hyper-active blonde with a blank face.
"Come on sempai, let's go."
~After the drive to Haruhi's apartment~
"Thanks for the ride Tamaki-sempai." I said as I got out of the limo.
'Holy crap I just rode in a limo... with anime characters!' I internally fangirled.
"Are you sure your okay Haruhi? Does your head feel okay?" Tamaki asked worriedly.
I gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine sempai."
I then turned around and climbed the stairs to Haruhi's apartment. When I opened the door I saw a familiar setting that I had seen from both the anime and Haruhi's memories.
"I'm home." I called, trying to sound bored.
"Haruhi!" A high male voice called. I looked to see Haruhi's dad, Ranka, run up to me and hug me.
"I'm so glad you're alright! That Ootori boy called me earlier and told me what happened!" He cried.
"It's okay d-dad," I said, stuttering on the word 'dad.' "But I am really exhausted so I'm just going to take a shower and go to bed."
"Okay, feel better sweetie," he hugged me before walking away. Leaving me standing there, with an unfamiliar feeling going through me.
I went into the bathroom and began to undress when I realized something.
'I'm not in my body, which means I'll end up seeing Haruhi naked!' I panicked before letting out a defeated sigh. 'It's inevitable. She'll end up having to do the same thing.'
After that thought I quickly undressed but kept my eyes straight forwards as I wrapped myself in a towel, still feeling uncomfortable about it.
I stopped though to look in the mirror.
No, I am not checking Haruhi out; it was that something strange had caught my eye.
My eyes widened as I saw what it was and I had to slap a hand over my mouth to keep myself from screaming. Whether from fear, anger, or frustration I couldn't tell you. Because right there on Haruhi's right shoulder there was something that shouldn't have been there.
A black magic sign.
I quickly showered and dressed myself before climbing into Haruhi's bed and falling into an extremely restless sleep, filled with images of the past.
Haruhi's Pov
I woke up with a start as my consciousness was thrown back at me. I looked around the room and realized I was in a hospital.
A woman, probably the nurse, came in with a glass of water.
"Oh, you're awake." She said, once she realized I was awake and sitting up in bed. She handed the glass of water to me. "Here, drink this and I'll go get the doctor."
She then scampered out of the room and I looked at the window while drinking the water she gave me.
In the window I could see the reflection of that girl, Kotomi, staring back at me, drinking water.
'This is so strange, looking at a reflective surface but not seeing your own face. It'll take me a while to get used to it.' I thought as the doctor came in just to make sure I could leave.
"Everything seems fine, so as soon as your mom signs you out, you can go home." He said, leaving.
I sat there staring at a wall and thinking of how I'm going to pull this off.
'Okay. My name is Kotomi Shinashi, I'm 15 years old and my birthday is July 13th. My best friends name is Mikala Uchida and her boyfriend, Haruki Hoshino, is also a good friend of mine. My boyfriends name is Collin Sherwood and we have been dating for a little over a year. I live in an apartment with my mother and have no siblings. My dad left us when I was 8, but I hate to talk about it. I am a big fan of anime and love sweets. I am usually a hyper, fun loving person unless I get angry.' I thought, going through the basic info that I have on Kotomi.
'This is going to be more difficult than I thought.' I mentally sweat dropped as I analyzed her personality more.
My thoughts were cut off as four people came into the room.
The first person was an older woman with shoulder length brown hair and light blue eyes that were filled with sadness and worry. I remember her as the woman from the ambulance and Kotomi's mother. Her name is Naomi Shinashi. She is 36 years old and divorced. Her husband left her alone to take care of their 8 year old daughter and chased after another woman. She likes cooking, nature and works as a manager of a restaurant so she isn't home most of the time, but still makes time to see her only child, Kotomi.
The second person to come in the room was a girl with mid-back blonde hair that is dyed red at the bottom and green eyes. She was wearing a dark green hoodie that had sewn on cat ears and skinny jeans. This was Kotomi's best friend, Mikala Uchida. She is 16 years old and has known Kotomi since the 7th grade. She likes anime and has an obsession with cats and black magic. She is a very weird and random girl and has a younger brother that is just as weird and random, mainly because she basically raised him because their parents work a lot. She and Kotomi are so close that they think of each other as twin sisters.
The third person to come in was a boy with black hair and grey eyes. He was wearing kind of fancy clothes but didn't seem like he was a stuck up rich kid. This was Haruhi Hoshino, Mikala's boyfriend and one of Kotomi's close friends, he's 17. Haruki is a calm boy so his personality kind of counteracts Mikala's energetic one, meaning he can keep her in check most of the time. His parents own a chain of very successful businesses, so he has a lot of money, but doesn't flaunt it. He is very kind and thinks of all of his friends as his siblings (except Mikala of course), since he doesn't have any. His parents don't really approve of him and Mikala dating, but they both don't really care.
Then the last person that walked into the room was a boy with bright red hair. His honey colored eyes dull with worry unlike the usual brightness in them. That was Collin Sherwood, he's 15. Kotomi's boyfriend and the last of the group of friends that was made up of Kotomi, Mikala, Haruki, and Collin. He is a very hyper active boy and can be quite childish. He gets bored easily and is very good at sports, which is why he is on almost every sports team at school. He lives with his single father and his mom died during child birth in Canada. He always blames himself for her death even though his father tells him otherwise. He met Kotomi at the same time Haruki did, 8th grade, and they have been dating since the summer after 8th grade.
Collin's eyes it up brighter then ever before as he noticed me sitting up in bed and awake.
"Kotomi!" He cried, trying to jump at me but was held back by Haruki.
"Collin, don't you remember what the doctor said," Haruki reprimanded slightly.
"Oh. Yeah." Collin said sadly.
"Huh? What are you guys talking about?" I questioned.
"Um honey?" Ms. Shinashi asked cautiously, stepping forward. "Do you know who we are?"
"What? Of course I do." I reassured, trying my best to act like Kotomi.
"Really!?" Mikala questioned excitedly.
"Of course. Why wouldn't I you idiots," I insulted playfully.
They all looked at each other before leaping towards me and hugging me tightly.
"I'm so glad," Ms. Shinashi cried softly.
"H-hey. What's gotten into you guys?" I asked.
All of them finally let go and Haruki started to explain. "The doctor told us that because you hit your head and you didn't recognize your mom in the ambulance that you wouldn't remember us. We were afraid you forgot us."
"Well you guys don't have to worry; you can't get rid of me that easily!" I exclaimed, thumping my fist over my heart with a giant grin on my face.
"Man this kind of hurts. I'm not used to smiling this much.' I thought.
"Well the doctor said you're okay, so I'll go and sign you out." Ms. Shinashi said, leaving.
"We'll wait for you at the entrance. You head probably still hurts so we'll give you a moment of silence before the other three start to smother you." Haruki said, grabbing Mikala's hand and dragging her out the door.
"Hurry up okay," Collin persisted, quickly kissing me on the lips before running out the door.
I sat there in shock for a moment before I snapped out of it.
'It's kind of weird kissing another girls boyfriend. Even if I am in her body.'
I stood up and tried adjusting my shirt. The shirt I was wearing was hanging off my right shoulder and kept falling in that position.
I walked past the window before I quickly stepped back and stared at the reflection.
Right there on the bare skin of Kotomi's right shoulder was a black magic sign.
I quickly cursed under my breath before moving my shirt so that it covered my right shoulder and hung off the left.
I quickly rand down to the entrance of the hospital and got in the car with Kotomi's mother, after saying goodbye to the three others, and we drove home without a word.
As soon as we got to the apartment I ran upstairs using the excuse that I was tired and quickly changed into a pair of Kotomi's pajamas.
Before I could get into bed though, I saw something sticking out of Kotomi's bag that was on the floor by her desk.
I pulled it out and saw that it was one of the black notebooks Kotomi and I had gotten.
'If you ever want to speak to each other after you wake up, just write in those notebooks and the words will appear on the other persons..."
I recalled the message from the black magic room.
I then got into Kotomi's bed, deciding I would investigate later, and quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.
