Chapter 8
🌻 "Hinata-sama? Why are you calling me that?"
"You are the true heiress of the Hyuga clan, Hinata-sama. You have the eyes which yields the Byakugan. I don't know how Sakura ended up in our clan, but she has no Hyuga blood in her."
I-I'm a.. Hyuga?!
"It is logical, Hinata-sama. Put you and Sakura together, anyone who doesn't know both of you will surely think you are a Hyuga."
He must have noticed the confused look on my face because he finally left, but not before leaving some words to linger on my mind.
"Think about it, Hinata-sama. You are not only finding out the truth behind your family and hers. You will learn how to activate your Byakugan and it will help you greatly in all battles.
I stood there stunned for what seemed like forever. The image of his back slowly fading away from my view.
I? A Hyuga heiress? But.. What about Sakura?? It's cruel enough to watch her 'clan' slaughtered, now if what he said was true, then she will be more lonely than before!
I can't..
I can't let that happen to Sakura.
She has already been through so much..
But.. How? How did we switch families?
We can't be mistaken with our huge difference. Her pink hair and emerald eyes, my midnight blue hair and white eyes.
Is there a reason behind it?
I can't let Sakura know no matter what. At least not now.
I headed to where I was going before and pushed the new piece of information deep into my mind, keeping it safely in the dark.
I won't think about this for now. I can't.
🌸 Rays of sunlight shone through my curtains and blinded my eyes. I groaned angrily as I sat up from bed; obviously, I am not a morning person—who is? Plus, everybody hates the feeling of the sun burning the eyes, it is extremely annoying. After I reluctantly got up on my feet, I lazily walked to the bathroom to prepare for the day.
Grabbing an apple for breakfast, I left my little home while munching on the crunchy red fruit.
"Sakura-chan, right?" A foreign and velvet voice rang in my ears and made me jolt on the spot.
I turned my head to face the lady who called me and found myself staring at a young woman with mid-back raven hair and onyx eyes who reminded me of a certain someone. Two certain people.
Mikoto Uchiha. I'm not surprised that she knows my name since I'm really the only one with bright pink hair here. To top it off, I was the heiress of the Hyuga clan.
"Good morning, Uchiha-san." I bowed respectfully.
"No need for formalities, Sakura-chan." She chuckled lightly. "Just call me Mikoto."
"Mikoto-san." I simply nodded and deep in my mind, I was quite surprised at how casual she was as the lady of the main house.
"My my, I can't change your mind, can't I? Never mind that, would you be so kind to accompany me home with all these bags?" She asked politely with a smile. She raised her arms which were occupied with heavy plastic bags of groceries.
"Sure." I replied and immediately took half of her burden with my free hand.
"Thank you very much, Sakura-chan!"
I followed her into the Uchiha compound and found it almost similar as mine, but it is of course, more lively. My eyes darkened at that thought; the Hyuga compound.....is filled with dead spirits and painful memories, lost laughters and lives.
"As I've heard from Sasuke, you are his teammate, is that correct?"
"It is correct. Naruto Haruno and Hinata are in our team as well."
"I see.. He didn't cause any trouble, did he?"
"No. If anyone should cause trouble, it would be Naruto." I hissed at his name, remembering all the annoyance he had caused in class and the team.
Mikoto giggled with a slight tease in her tone.
"From your tone of voice, it seems you dislike your fellow friend by the name of Naruto."
"Indeed I do. In fact, I hate him."
"You will love him in the end, having to go through thick and thin with him in the future."
"I-" I shut up before saying anything rash.
She's right.. This is just the beginning after all.
"Maybe.." I shrugged. Not.
"We're here." She announced and I stopped next to her.
"I guess I'll leave these in your kitchen before I leave?"
"No, please stay for breakfast. I bought plenty ingredients. You can't be having only an apple for breakfast."
"No no, it's fine. I'm an outsider after all!" I refused, embarrassed.
"No, I insist! At least to thank you for helping me." She pleaded.
Mikoto is known to be persistent.. There's no way out of this, is there?
"Alright.. If you insist, Mikoto-san." I sighed in defeat.
"Come in! You may help me in the kitchen if you want to."
"I will. I can't stay for a free meal." I said as I followed her in and arranged my shinobi sandals neatly when I entered the mansion.
"You are too innocent, Sakura-chan."
"I'm simply doing what's right, Miko-"
"Who did you bring home, Mikoto?" A loud and controlling voice boomed as I stepped into the living room, leaving my sentence hanging.
Uh-oh...
