Chapter 24

🌻 I couldn't help but stare at Toneri and his teammate, something about them don't sit well with me. In the middle of the ruckus, a kunoichi crashed the window from outside. She had orange coloured eyes and teal coloured hair, her skin was quite tan; a peculiar appearance I would say.

"Tada!" She exclaimed. "Wow, looks like the party has already started!" While everybody only gave her weird glances, she was extremely enthusiastic and talked without taking a breath. "Am I about to make a hundred friends??"

She pointed to herself, "I'm Fuu from the village hidden in the waterfalls and I'm here to make a hundred friends! What's your plan after dinner? Playing cards? Musical chairs? Hide and seek?" She rambled on and on. "Oh, I know! Let's take a bath together!"

Everyone who were present sighed. It wasn't just her appearance, her behaviour was uncommon as well. The participants slowly cleared the room while Fuu called for them, "Hey! Come back! Play with me!"

Nobody bothered her, except Naruto. "Hey Fuu! My name is Naruto Haruno and I'll be the Hokage someday!"

"Oh really?? Cool! Hey! Do you want to play games with me??"

"Sure! What should we play?" He turned his head to me and grinned. "Hey Hinata! Let's play!"

I reluctantly replied, "Uhh.. Okay..."

Fuu threw her hands up, "Let's play hide and seek in this sand building! I'm going to seek, so all of you hide until I count to ten!" Without looking at Naruto and I for approval, she had already started counting with her eyes closed.

"One!"

Naruto ran out of the canteen to who knows where.

"Two!"

I rushed to the hallway. Why am I doing this?

"Three!"

My paces were quick as I hurried to find a place I could hide in.

"Four!"

A door opened and an acquaintance was about to leave the room. "Toneri, please let me hide in your room!" I whispered.

"Five!"

He was surprised at my sudden appearance and odd request, "What happened?"

"Six!"

"I'm playing hide and seek and I don't know where to hide!" I hushed my voice.

"Seven~!"

He swung the door opened widely, allowing me to enter and I looked around, wondering where would be the best place to hide in.

"Eight!"

Toneri grabbed my arm and pulled me to the back of the door. "Don't worry, I'll protect you."

"Nine~~!"

My heart fluttered lightly at his words. He's such a sweetheart. I reconsidered my hiding spot, it felt a little too bare. However, I wasn't keen on winning anyway, so it should not matter.

"Ten!"

Quick footsteps thumped loudly on the ground and headed towards Toneri's direction. The blind man exited his room and was greeted by the hyperactive kunoichi.

"Hey friend! Do you see my friends? We're playing hide and seek! Do you want to join us??" She greeted, asked, said and asked again in less than a minute. This girl probably has a supreme lung capacity.

"I think they went that way." He said while pointing to the direction which leads to the stairs.

"Thank you!" She yelled, already taking off before waiting for his answer about joining the game.

I stepped out from my hiding spot and thanked him, "Thank you, Toneri."

"It's not a problem. Would you like to stay here until she gives up?" He kindly offered.

I shook my head, "It'll be too much trouble."

He smiled, "It's fine, I would like to know you more."

🌸 The door closed and the both of them started talking behind the wall. I released myself from leaning on the wall and started walking around the building out of boredom.

He's surely having a great time.

I sighed as I stopped in front of a window. The view was blurred with dust and sand, it was incomparable to the view from the moon. But I have to admit, it gets incredibly boring there and nowhere can be compared to the Earth. At least anywhere but the village Hidden in the Sand.

Toneri Otsutsuki. I said in my mind.

When I first accepted his offer to join him, I was shocked to see us travelling to the moon which I never thought was possible. That place was definitely beautiful and his palace was astounding.

Although we were the only inhabitants there, the relationship between us was only business. While I seek revenge, he pursued his clan's resolution. One would think we are or would be close comrades, but it was quite the opposite. I don't think we were even in the stage of being friends.

All I knew was his desire to have Hinata, to destroy Earth and recently, to own Neji's eyes.

He told me a few stories. He was given birth in the Otsutsuki clan where everyone was still alive and he was not alone. But they eventually passed away which led him to grow up all by himself. In that aspect, I could relate to him. He told me about a power he seeks, but I was never told why, neither was I told how he became blind.

I remember once I asked him why the moon, but I never received an answer. I felt that there was more to him but I never dared to question this seraphic, yet vicious man.

He kept a lot from me despite me being very literally the only person he could talk to or depend on.

In the first few months, I depended on him to keep my mentality stable. I cried and raged about the life I didn't need to live. When the Hokage mentioned about the danger Hinata would face as the heiress, maybe this lonely person who lived in the moon was the danger Hiashi Hyuga feared.

And I would bring the danger to her with my own hands.

A person stopped next to me and locked his gaze on me. I turned to him and sucked in a deep breath.

Sharingan.

I was caught. No disguise by a ninjutsu could hide from this pair of eyes. And why would he activate those eyes when we weren't in a battle and I suppose I did not do anything suspicious. By him of all people and right now in the early stages of the exam, barely the start of our villainous plan. If he was to expose me, I must get rid of him.

No matter what.

"Sasuke." I breathed.
