Chapter Six

A few sunrises went by, each going quicker than the last. Despite Fiona's negativity, she and her sister were adapting to Clan life. Fianna, always being unlike her counterpart, was eager to keep learning new things and how to live with other cats.

It was nearly sunhigh when Fianna found her littermate in the middle of the camp, sulking in the shadows. "What's with you today?" the she-cat asked brightly.

"I . . . I just really want my body back. It's weird to see green eyes instead of blue ones whenever I look into a puddle." Fiona replied gloomily.

Unlike previous times, Fianna had absolutely no idea how to comfort Fiona. She could relate completely; the different eye colors sometimes threw her off immensely. Looking for a solution, she glanced around the clearing in search of a certain medicine cat.

As if on cue, Brookwing's blue eyes met her from the medicine den. She seemed to get the message and immediately padded towards the two. "Is everything okay?" she questioned lightly, her tone friendly.

Fianna shrugged. "My sister's being grumpy. I guess she just really wants her body back." After a pause, she added, "I sort of feel the same."

Brookwing gave the she-cat a reassuring smile. "Have you ever considered going back to the lab to see if the scientists will fix you?"

Fiona hadn't felt so stupid for a long time. Why hadn't she thought of that? Wasn't it the obvious thing to do? "No," she mewed quietly, shame filling her chest.

"I suggest you ask Driftspots about that rogue he knew. If you could find the cat he was talking about, you could find your way back."

The siblings agreed and made their way to the elder's den, where Driftspots looked up expectantly.

"We need help." Fianna blurted.

Fiona shot her a dirty look and meowed sharply, "We need to find the rogue you knew of."

"Sure." the old cat responded with a purr. "His name was Eclipse. Black fur, and I'm fairly sure he has gray eyes. He lives in the general area of the lab."

"How do you suppose we'll find him?" Fiona asked impatiently.

"Oh, he knows plenty of cats. Ask every loner you encounter, I'm sure one of them will know where he resides."

"Thanks!" Fianna exclaimed cheerily, exiting the den with a respectful nod.

Back out in the open, Fiona said matter-of-factly, "So the plan is simple. Ask lots of loners and find Eclipse, then have him tell us where to get to the lab."

Fianna considered this briefly, then nodded. "It's a plan."
