Fianna woke up with a jolt, eyes flying open. She inspected her surroundings, flexing and stretching out her numb paws. My head feels like a badger's been sitting on it. Next to her, her sister was still slumbering.

"Wake up, sleepy-head!" She chirped, nudging her sister Fiona with her paw. Excitement flashed through her as she saw Fiona's grumpy blue eyes crack open.

"Oh, what do you want, Fianna?" Fiona growled, her tone discouraged. "We're stuck here anyway, you might as well let me get more rest," she added, pushing herself up with one gray paw.

A Twoleg was seen pushing a container of water with a large stick-like object coming out of it. The Twoleg went out of the room, leaving the door slightly ajar. Fianna pricked her ears and jumped to her paws.

"Look, Fiona! The twoleg left the door open!" Fianna mewed excitedly.

"We're just going to be caught again. Face it, Fianna, we're stuck here," Fiona meowed in her usual downbeat tone.

"You're such a party pooper," Fianna whined. She stared beseechingly at her sister. "Can we at least try?" she begged.

"Fine," Fiona grumbled, "but if we get caught, don't say I didn't warn you."

"Let's go!" Fianna urged, nudging the other she-cat to her paws. Fianna leaped off the table and bolted out the lab door, paws sliding on the slick tile floor. Fiona sighed and followed, gracefully jumping down and padding after her rambunctious sibling.

Scientists were in the hallways the door led to, their pristine white coats starkly outlined against the background. One of them noticed Fiona and Fianna as they slunk along the side of one of the white, white walls, and started to chase after them.

"I told you we would be caught!" Fiona said, her voice filled with terror as she scrambled around another corridor.

"It's just one—" Fianna broke off, seeing many Twolegs now chasing them, "All right, a few I guess." Soon the two cats, reaching the final hallway, were surprised the door to the outside was cracked open enough for them to squeeze through. "Hurry!" Fianna yelled, running out the door. Fiona followed after Fianna, too scared to reply.

The two ran into the forest of the unknown.
