Chapter Five
The next morning Pondstar had agreed to let the twins stay but they had to do Clan chores, such as patrolling and hunting. Fianna had readily agreed, throwing herself into the challenge like she always did, but Fiona had sighed and grumbled—like always.
Of course, the two had to learn how to do those things first, and as such Pondstar assigned them mentors. Fiona was a bit skeptical of this and, with her naturally suspicious nature, she didn't really know whether to trust these Clan cats or not.
Fianna, on the other paw, could not have been happier. Despite being in the wrong body, she had started to get used to it and almost didn't freak out anymore when her head-fur drooped in her eyes or when she looked in a puddle and saw the wrong color where her eyes should be.
Fiona was in the medicine cat den helping out Brookwing while also learning some herbs. This may have been useful, just in case something did happen.
"Hey Fiona!" Fianna chirped bouncing into the medicine cat den making Fiona squish some of the berries she was putting away on accident.
"Fianna! Look what you made me do!" Fiona snapped, her eyes filled with anger. "These big, clumsy paws aren't helping either," she added with a hiss.
"Hey! They're my paws—don't get them all messy!" Fianna whined sarcastically sticking her tongue out a bit.
Fiona growled a bit but before she could say something, Brookwing stepped in between them. "I get that it's hard for you two to be stuck in different bodies, but for StarClan's sake they look almost identical," Brookwing mewed, her tone frustrated and annoyed. "How about you two go on the dawn patrol? I can finish up here."
"Oh, all right," Fianna said, a bit disappointedly, but she went outside after her sister into the center of camp.
Pondstar was in the middle of the camp, directing patrols, and noticed the sisters coming over to the group. "Fiona and Fianna, I want you going on a border patrol with Pinebranch and Gorsefeather," Pondstar mewed, before turning around and starting to set up some hunting patrols.
Fiona sighed, it seemed like they always had Pinebranch on a patrol, not that she didn't like him—she just thought he could get a bit annoying at times.
"Great!" Fianna chirped, going over to the two cats. Fiona followed, her eyes sweeping the clearing in search of someone to confide in—her sister, so immersed in Clan life, seemed to get further and further away with each passing day.
Sorry for the boring chapter! This is Dusky signing off!
