Chapter 35 - White flag
Kayden's POV
As I approached Julie, who was watching us in confusion, I stopped and faced her.
"Don't do such a thing again, Julie. I love this woman so much, and we have a daughter," I stated firmly and gestured to my jealous woman, who was still in my arms. Hazel pursed her lips together, trying to look emotionless, but I knew she was happy with my words. "And Hazel and I are getting married soon," I added, looking at Julie, and carried Hazel into the mansion.
"Mom, Mila, Draco, say something to Kayden," Hazel asked our parents and hit me on my chest, trying to pull away.
"Kade..." My mother tried to stop me because Hazel was still squirming in my arms and demanding that I put her down.
"Hazel and I are going to talk in my room. I don't want anyone to disturb us, please," I cut her off and carried Hazel upstairs.
As soon as I walked into my room, I closed the door behind me with my foot while Hazel kept telling me to put her down. Then I carried her towards the bed and placed her on the bed carefully.
"Are you fine? Do you want something?" I asked, concerned.
"Yes. I want you to get out of my life," she replied bitterly and stood up, folding her arms over her chest.
"It seems you don't feel bad anymore. Good." I sighed, running my hand through my hair. "And sorry, but your wish is impossible. I don't plan to get out of your life, doll," I added arrogantly and winked at her playfully.
Hazel rolled her eyes. "Why did you tell that French woman that we were getting married? I don't plan to marry an incorrigible player like you," she said dryly.
"You will, my doll," I stated, determined. "Now, be a good girl and wait for me here. I will prove to you that I am innocent. I will be back soon."
"No, I don't want to hear anything. I am leaving," she refused confidently.
"Well, you wanted it," I commented cockily and left my room in quick steps, closing and locking the door behind me.
"Kayden! Open the door!" she shouted behind the door, knocking at it angrily. "I hate you. Open this damned door!"
I ignored her and went to get the CCTV video. I would show Hazel that I was innocent; it was Julie who jumped into my arms as soon as I opened the door.
"Kayden, what is going on? Did you lock Hazel in your room?" my father asked worriedly as I went downstairs.
"Dad, please. I don't want anyone to intervene. I'm going to make her watch the CCTV videos and see the truth with her own eyes," I stated firmly. He nodded, sighing, while my mother and Mila looked worried.
Once I got the CD, I went back to my room. As soon as I opened the door, Hazel threw something at me. Fortunately, I bent down in time, and it didn't hit me.
"Are you crazy, Hazel?" I asked angrily and looked at the vase shattered into pieces. I heaved a loud sigh and slammed the door shut.
"You make me mad. Let me go, Kayden Matthews," she demanded furiously.
"I will, but after you watch this," I said, waving the CD in my hand.
"What is this?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"The proof of my innocence," I replied firmly and went to grab my laptop. "There is the CCTV video of the mansion. You will see with your own eyes that she jumped on me, catching me off guard," I added and played the video, turning the laptop screen towards her.
"I don't want to watch it," she refused, looking away.
"Hazel, please."
Hazel sighed, approaching me, and sat down beside me on the bed. She folded her arms over her chest and started to watch the video.
"Even if it was her who threw herself into your arms at the door, it doesn't mean you don't meet up with her secretly," Hazel commented dryly as we finished watching the CCTV video.
"Hazel!" I exclaimed, annoyed. "I don't have any kind of relationship with any other woman. I just want you. There hasn't been any other woman in my life since I fell in love with you. I love you so much. Please give me a chance. I am miserable without you. You are the love of my life," I said honestly and held her hand, cupping her cheek, looking her in the eyes. "I love you, my doll," I added and brushed my lips against her lips.
After a few seconds, she finally responded to my kiss, making me the happiest man on Earth again. I pulled back slightly and leaned my forehead against her forehead.
"I love you, Hazel."
"I love you too, Kade," she admitted softly, making my heart fill with pure joy.
I grinned happily and smashed my lips against her lips. She wrapped her arms around my neck as I circled my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me.
A few minutes later, Hazel pulled back slightly and warned me firmly, "If you lie to me again, you won't see my face...."
"I promise. No lies. No secrets," I assured Hazel, cutting her off, cupping her cheek, and placed a chaste kiss on her lips.
She bit her lower lip uneasily. "I'm sorry for not wanting to listen to you when you tried to explain. I shouldn't have controlled my anger."
I gave her a warm smile, caressing her cheek gently. "It is my fault too. I haven't made it easy for you to believe me. But I hid that I got my memory back because I was scared of losing you, but it only made our situation worse," I said sadly.
"Both of us have made mistakes. It'll be better if we have a fresh start and always be honest with each other no matter what," she suggested hopefully.
"I promise, from now on, no more lies and secrets," I promised confidently. She gave me a bright smile. "Let's get married," I suggested happily and held her hand.
"What?!" she asked in surprise.
"Let's get married as soon as possible. I want to wake up with you in my arms and fall asleep holding you against my body," I confessed warmly, stroking her cheek tenderly. "Say yes, my doll." She nodded and gave me a mesmerizing smile. I beamed at her happily and hugged her tightly.
I pulled back as someone knocked on the door.
"Come in," I said as I stood up, giving Hazel a wide smile.
The door opened, and my parents and Hazel's mother walked into my bedroom, looking worried.
"Umm... Is everything okay?" my mother asked, concerned, traveling her eyes from me to Hazel. "We got worried when you didn't come downstairs after you two stopped arguing."
"Did you think I killed Hazel?" I asked mischievously and looked at my woman, smirking. She rolled her eyes, amused.
"Otherwise. We thought Hazel killed you," Mila commented, grinning.
I scowled as Hazel burst out laughing.
"Not today, Mom," Hazel said playfully as she stood up and approached me. I rolled my eyes. She grinned and held my hand. "We talked and solved our problem. It was a misunderstanding. Moreover, we decided to give our relationship a chance," she added softly.
"We are getting married," I informed them cheerfully.
"Oh my goodness! I am so happy for you two," my mother commented happily as she approached us and hugged Hazel and me.
After my mother, Mila approached her daughter, congratulating us joyfully, while my father approached me.
"Finally!" my father exclaimed merrily as he hugged me and tapped on my back.
"When is the wedding?" my mother asked excitedly after they had finished congratulating us.
"As soon as possible," I replied as I wrapped my arm around Hazel's waist and pulled her closer to me.
***
I was nibbling my lower lip nervously at the altar while waiting for Hazel. Finally, she and I were getting married. I hoped that this time everything would end well and she wouldn't dump me at the altar again.
Despite the fact that I wanted to get married as soon as possible, Hazel didn't agree with me. She told me that she wanted to be in shape on our wedding day. So we decided to wait.
A year later, she finally agreed to marry me, and we began the preparations quickly. She dreamed of having an intimate wedding with our families and close friends in Turks and Caicos.
I breathed deeply, trying to calm down. I felt so anxious. Even the sound of ocean waves didn't help me calm down. I was afraid that something bad would happen, and Hazel would run away, dumping me again.
My heart started pounding as the music started playing. A wide smile appeared on my face as soon as I saw the most beautiful flower girl in the world. My sweet girl. Daisy. She looked so cute in her little white dress.
