Chapter 3 - Swapped Fate
Kayden's POV
I whistled lowly as I saw Hazel walking into the restaurant. She looked so beautiful in her wine red wrap dress. She ruffled her long wavy brown hair and searched around, looking for me.
I was watching this beauty while a hostess approached her and greeted this pretty angel. Once
the hostess gestured to my table, Hazel gave her polite smile and walked towards me. Everything
around me disappeared as soon as my eyes met her beautiful brown eyes.
As she approached me, I stood up and extended my hand towards her, giving her my signature smile.
"Good evening. You look so beautiful." I said huskily while looking her in the eyes and placed a soft kiss on top of her soft hand. "I am Jayden Matthews."
"Good evening. I am Hazel Sullivan." She gave me a shy smile.
"Nice to meet you, Hazel." I flashed a bright smile and released her hand.
"Nice to meet you too."
I pulled a chair for her, smiling warmly. She thanked me and sat down on the chair. Then the waiter brought us the menus.
I was watching her discreetly while she was deciding what to order. Jayden didn't know what he was missing. However, I was grateful to him for this chance. Otherwise, I wouldn't have met this beauty. I was planning to enjoy this game to the fullest. It was decided.
Once the waiter brought our meals, he left us alone. I took a sip from my wine without managing to take my eyes off Hazel. Her long eyelashes, plump lips and porcelain skin were an invitation for temptation.
I didn't understand why, but it felt like I had seen her before. However, if I met Hazel before, I would remember her. You couldn't forget this beauty easily. If you weren't wasted... Besides, if we had met before and did the deeds, she wouldn't want to do anything with me or my family. Of course, if she wouldn't want to get revenge. And I didn't think Hazel was here for revenge.
"So tell me about yourself." I told Hazel, looking her in the eyes, and sipped my wine.
"I am an interior designer. I am the founder of Sullivan Interior Design Company."
"Really?! So we don't need to hire an interior designer to decorate our new house when we get married." I commented huskily.
"Don't you think it is early to think about it?" She asked, raising her eyebrows.
Good answer! At least, she isn't obsessed with getting married and being a trophy wife.
I pursed my lips together, amused and leaned towards her. "I don't think so." I replied, keeping
testing her, and bit my lower lip seductively. "I don't think I would let you go." I added provocatively.
She looked at me, surprised while her cheeks blushed. She averted her gaze and cleared her throat. "You are a smooth talker. Actually, I didn't think you would be like this." She commented firmly.
"How?" I asked curiously.
"Umm... quite flirtatious." Hazel replied confidently.
I chuckled, in amusement. "Am I?"
"Aren't you?" She raised her eyebrow and gave me a knowing smirk.
I grinned. "How can I stop myself from complimenting you? It is impossible not to appreciate your beauty. So it is you who makes me like this." I stated hoarsely.
Hazel blushed shyly. "Did your brother teach you to talk like this? As much as I heard about you, you were quite different." She commented curiously.
"So I was investigated by you?!" I said, surprised.
"No... not like that... but... let's say we have mutual acquaintances." She mumbled nervously.
"I see. And what did they tell you about me?" I asked curiously.
"Well, you are quite workaholic, and you are quite, easy-going. Totally different from your twin. This kind of stuff."
"Hmm... And how is my twin like?" I asked, intrigued.
"A party animal and notorious player." She replied confidently.
"Oh, I guess our mutual acquaintance doesn't like my brother so much." I commented in amusement and sipped my wine.
"Isn't he like that?" She asked sarcastically.
I smirked. "He is totally like that. They are right. My brother is cool." I replied cockily and winked at her playfully.
She chuckled. "I don't think they praised your brother. Quite opposite." She clarified.
"You think so?" I asked, hiding my amusement. She nodded, determined. "Which part is bad?"
"Hmm... Definitely the player part." Hazel stated firmly.
"Is it his fault that women like him?"
"It isn't about women. It is about how he treats them." She rolled her eyes.
"I don't think they were unhappy about how he treated them during they were together. All problems start when he wants to break up with them." I commented arrogantly and winked at her
playfully.
"More correctly, when he dumps them after getting what he wanted." The pretty brunette corrected me firmly.
I purse my lip together, trying to hold my smile, and raised my eyebrow. "You know my brother quite well." I remarked, surprised.
"No... I... I don't know him well. I just heard rumors." Hazel denied nervously.
"As you said yourself they are just rumors. Don't believe them." I winked at her. "By the way, I guess my brother would like you if he met you. It is good I met you before him." I added huskily, looking her in the eyes.
"I don't think so. I am not that type of girl who he goes after." She shook her head, unconvinced and took a sip from her wine.
I raised my eyebrow. "What type of girl are you?"
"Shy, introvert, quite. And I am not adventurous, sexy and beautiful like them. Totally opposite of the girls he dated."
"You are wrong. You are just unaware of your beauty, princess." I stated firmly and winked at her.
Her cheeks flushed. She bit her lower lip, averting her gaze, and mumbled. "Thanks."
I smiled affectionately while looking at her. Hazel was really beautiful, but she was right about the girls I had affairs. She wasn't the girl I always went after; she was something else. And she totally got my attention. It would be interesting to discover this hidden gem.
Thank you, Jay!
It will be enjoyable!
Hazel's POV
I took a sip from my latte while talking to Celeste on the phone in the mansion.
"Enough about me! Tell me about your date." She asked curiously.
"Actually, it was better than I imagined. Jayden isn't like I thought." I said honestly.
"How? Less boring and cold?" She chuckled.
"Celeste! He is..." I sighed. "He is an interesting guy." I added, thinking about my blue-eyed handsome.
"Hmm... Don't tell me you already...." She commented suspiciously.
"No, don't talk nonsense, Celeste! We talked and had a good time. I should admit I look forward to seeing him again." I confessed and bit my lower lip shyly. I felt like a school girl who looked forward to going on a date with her crush.
"Oh my gosh! Don't tell me you fell in love with Jayden?" Celeste shouted, excited.
"No, Celeste. Of course not." I denied, rolling my eyes.
"Who knows?! Maybe, you will decide he is better than his bro?" Celeste commented mischievously.
"Don't talk like I know Kayden very well, Celeste." I frowned and rolled my eyes.
"Honey, the whole country knows which one is better at..." She commented mischievously.
I rolled my eyes as I understood what she was implying at. "Celeste!" I warned her.
"What?! Now you won't let me talk about your future brother-in-law?! Huh?" She asked, amused.
I heaved a loud sigh. "He isn't my future brother-in-law. Jayden and I went on a date once." I reminded her.
"So you tell me you haven't decided between two brothers?!" My friend teased me.
"Celeste! Don't talk nonsense!" I warned my best friend. "It seems you feel good today. At least, I am glad Matthews twins made you feel better." I commented teasingly.
She sighed. "Thank you for reminding me about my problem."
"Sorry. By the way, won't you tell me about it?" I asked curiously.
