What Happened Doesn't Matter Now
Heavy breathing came from Boots. He was barely moving, barely. Boots lay still like a corpse too in shock and in pain to do or say anything. Swiper was panicked, a mere few feet away from Boots. His mind went wild, Swiper did not know what to do. Boots looked like a fish out of water as he was losing blood from the impact. Swiper stumbled to Boot’s side.
“Boots, hang in there,” Swiper manages to cough out as he starts to grab his phone and starts to dial 911.
Fumbling with his phone the line finally picks up “911 what’s your emergency?”
“Yes, hello? My uh friend, he just got hit by a motorcycle and he’s on the ground bleeding out and I-I don’t know what to do,” Swiper says looking for the motorcycle and it’s rider.
“Are you the rider?”
“N-no,” Swiper replies walking towards the discovered motorcycle that is now in flames with the rider looking to be as dead as a doornail on the asfalt.
“Okay, now what are the conditions of the rider and victim then?”
“The victim is bleeding out, and desperately gasping for air and the motorcyclist is um.. H-he isn’t moving I don’t think he’s alive the area he’s in in in flames and blown up should I move the rider?”
“No, that would cause more damage. I will send help just tell me your current location,” the operator spoke.
“I’m west of Viola St. we’re in an alleyway.”
“Thank you, please wait, help will arrive shortly,” then the operator hung up.
Swiper puts his phone away as he starts to investigate the motorcycle from a distance. The cracked helmet of the rider lay at his feet. It is marked as just “B.”. Swiper was devastated, somebody lost their life and Boots was almost of the same status. Swiper started to get sick just thinking about that, he literally just wanted to go on a walk only to have to go through all this trouble. He sighed and sat down on the curb to await the arrival of help.

“Boots!!!” Dora exclaims in shock.
She was standing in the doorway of his hospital room. Shock and sadness hit Dora as she walked up to Boots’ still body. She gasped at the sight of Boots’ condition.
“Ah Dora, there you are,” a voice says entering the room.
Dora turns around, “Diego! Are you Boots’ doctor?”
“Yes.”
“Oh thank god, it's good to know that my friend is in good hands. Will be be okay???” Dora says wiping a tear away.
Diego checks the clipboard he's holding, “As for now, no he's in critical condition he'll be unconscious in an estimate of four days.”
“H-huh?! Four days?! Isn't that a little too long for only being hit by a motorcycle?” Dora exclaims.
“Well yes, it is, but it’s all a matter of where his injury was, in this case in the head and in various areas where his vital organs are,” Diego says in concern.
“I just want him to be well already,” Dora sniffles.
“Wait. Diego.”
“Yeah?”
“I heard that Swiper was with Boots when the accident happened, where is Swiper?!” Dora says in shock.
“Oh him? He got out of there with some stabs and bruises but I don’t think any major harm was done to him,” Diego responds.
“Stabs? Can you take me to his room?” Dora says in concern.
“Sure, this way.”
Diego then leads Dora out of Boots’ room and into the hallway where they pass by various other rooms. There's a stench of chicken soup and dead people. Finally at the end of the hall they reach Swiper’s room. Inside Dora and Diego can see Swiper chilling on his bed on his phone. His hospital gown is popped open to reveal his bandages and other fanservicey goods, those darn nurses.
“Swiper! You’re okay!” Dora says running into the room.
“Holy shit it’s you. Dora!” Swiper says a little shocked as he takes his eyes off of his phone.
“Ah, I'm so worried, Boots is in critical condition and it would’ve been heartbreaking to see you like that too,” Dora says reaching in for a hug.
The hug from Dora hurt Swiper a bit because she was literally hugging him where his bruises were, but he endured it just for her. Swiper embraces Dora back with a genuine smile on his face. Seeing as it wouldn't be a good time to interfere Diego smiles and withdraws coolly.
•• •• ••
Three days passed and Dora has been visiting both Boots and Swiper. Swiper has been getting progressively better, but Boots, Boots was in terrible condition. Diego had reported the brain trauma he received from the accident wasn’t getting better. Dora and Swiper are sitting in the hospital cafeteria.
Swiper picks up an apple from his tray, “So, how have you been? You’ve been spending the last few days worrying about us too much.”
Dora was lost in thought and Swiper’s words caught her off guard,”H-huh? What? Oh I haven't really gotten any sleep lately, I feel miserable.”
“You need to take care of yourself, you shouldn't have to worry about us so much the people at the hospital are doing the best they can to make sure we’re in tip top shape,” Swiper says trying to comfort Dora.
“But I should be worried! Boots is probably in a coma!” Dora harshly responds looking down at her food.
“Shit, I’m sorry you have a point about that,” Swiper says in apology.
Dora looks up again with a look of guilt, “I’m sorry I snapped at you, there’s just too much going on right now.”
“No no, it’s fine I guess it’s not right to press on that subject,” Swiper reassures Dora, placing a hand on hers.
“Come on let's go for a walk,” Swiper says getting up and giving Dora a gentle smile.
Dora sighs and stands up grabbing her tray, “Sounds good.”
After throwing away their food Swiper and Dora go for a walk outside. It at first, was a bit awkward. Swiper had no idea what to ask her about, or maybe just maybe… Swiper stopped.
“Huh? What's wrong?” Dora asked stopping as well.
“Dora, do you remember what happened last week? You know when I never got to finish what I needed to say,” Swiper says looking at the ground trying to avoid eye contact with Dora.
Dora looked a little off guard, “Oh Yeah! We never finished our business. After all that’s been happening lately I didn’t think about it.”.
Yeah because of that GOD awful Boots Swiper was thinking. But he stopped in thought to realize Boots could be dead due to his condition and stopped his mean thoughts. Instead he focused on the situation on hand, he was in the right place to confess to Dora again. Although it wasn't the right time however he still wanted to get his feelings out to her. Swiper took a deep breath and gingerly took Dora’s hands in his. He stared into her eyes as hers stared back in wonder.
“Dora, what I was going to tell you was that-”
There was a ring from Dora’s pocket, it was her phone. Dora took her hands away from Swiper and looked at her phone. Someone was calling her.
Dora answered the call,”Hello? Oh Diego! ...what!”
The moment was killed, as Swiper looked at Dora. Dora’s face was pale and sickly, she looked in more shock than he was.Her breathing was short as if in panic as she hung up on her phone devastated.
Swiper put his hands on her arms, “Hey get ahold of yourself, calm down I don’t know what that call was about but everything will be okay.”
“HOW IS EVERYTHING GOING TO BE OKAY?! MY BEST FRIEND IS DEAD YOU FUCKING IDIOT,” Dora says ripping off Swipers hands.
Boots in critical condition already took a toll on Dora but the idea of him being dead was just a tipping point. Dora looked as if she had lost all of humanity. Swiper did not know what to do. He felt terrible, truly tragic.
