"You are a human."

"Yes I am." I confirmed her trying to dissolve the look of utter ridicule on her beautiful face.

She cocked her head at me waiting for me continue as a new chapter of disbelief took over her features. She settled herself on the swing comfortable as she waited for me to speak.

Alright! Time to reveal the truth!

"Let me start from the beginning. I need fifteen uninterrupted minutes from you." I breathed out.

"Several months ago, Professor Acharya, who was was my guiding professor back in the university, won an award for his work on advanced study on brain and mind control system. Although I have my own company and I'm a high profiled researching doctor myself, the topic of his study interested me so he asked me to join his group and so I did. Once the study is out and he received the award, he garnered attention from different directions and many sources; one of them was Elias."

That project was the one what got us into this whole mess; but then again, after thinking closely, I realized it's not the study that is problematic but the people who wants to take the wrong advantage of it.

"How did he get to know about it? As much as I know about that jerk, he is a public enemy in knowledge kingdom." I exhaled a chuckle at her choice of words.

Good thing she is making comments, or else I would've thought she gave up on us with or without hearing me out.

"He wasn't looking for knowledge, little wolf; he was looking for ways to use those with the knowledge for his own benefit."

"Knowing nothing about a certain mythical group of beings at that time, when Elias and his men approached the professor to use his knowledge for creating a drug that can control minds, my professor blatantly refused to do so. He had no idea that Elias is not just a normal human being so he dared to slap the refusal on his face directly."

I paused for a second giving her time to consume everything I'm telling her. I waited for her to process everything on her own.

"Elias must've used his werewolf strength and command to force your professor to join him?" Not bad, she does know a thing or two about that jerk.

"Yes and no. Yes, he threatened him using his werewolf powers and no, because the threatening did not come immediately. When Elias was first rejected, he went out to find some other doctor who can do his bidding in return for money and power but he could find none. The advanced study of my professor's is something he spent years on and only he has that knowledge of what Elias is looking for." She grimaced and nodded her head thoughtfully.

"But isn't mind control something common that most of the psychiatrists can do?"

"It is but you are confusing yourself between hypnosis and mind controlling. They sound similar but are actually completely different. Hypnosis is putting someone in an induced condition to activate their subconscious memory for relative answers. Mind controlling, on the other hand, is getting a partial control on the other's body by using tricks. It's coercing others at your will."

"Understood. Continue."

"Elias couldn't find anyone who has the same resources and knowledge as Professor Acharya. By that time, Elias was already in a hurry to achieve his goal because he was already getting doubted to be not so competent king of werewolves by many. Not to forget, he has blood of many innocents on his hands so he has a lot to cover up. So Elias used money, power and everything he can on the professor to get him on his side but to no avail. My professor did not give in. He said no matter how high and mighty he could get in future, he cannot betray the human kind for a devil like Elias."

"And then?" Veira asked as she scooted forward on the swing and leaned forward with interest.

"So, Elias kidnapped my professor. When he did not agree to do Elias bidding even after threatening and torture, Elias started to approach all the consulting doctors who did the study alongside. Those who refused him were tortured to death and our police and investigation team couldn't even find the cause of death. Say, who would think that there are human out there who can turn into wolves?"

"So, when Elias approached you with your professor as his hostage, you agreed to help him create the drug." Bingo!

"I thought, if the offer goes to someone who is greedy, then it will be the end of humankind. So I had to be the bad guy and take up the offer in order to save the professor and everyone. When I came to know that they are werewolves, I understood that my strength cannot be compared with their powers so the better way is to be bad and spoil everything from inside."

"In the beginning, none trusted me but as I started to show the same greed and ambition as them, I started to get Elias's trust. All the while I was working beside him, I studied more and more about werewolves; not just biologically but your traditions, customs, everything. Everyone thought since I'm a human, I just interested myths like them so I just went along."

'Ah, so he was already preparing for the worst case so he can turn the tide if necessary.'

"Yes Dea. I cannot entrust my life into theirs. I need a weapon of mine that can be used against them."

Veira shot up from the swing and came to me in werewolf speed that I didn't even notice when she came. Pulling me up by my collar, she growled loudly at me threateningly.

"How?"

"Hmm?"

"How did you reply her back? You heard her, didn't you? How?" Veira growled even louder and at that moment I could hear two voices in her growl.

Both Veira's and Dea's!

I just couldn't keep this thing to myself for few more minutes, could I?

Damn!

"Veira, Veira calm down and listen to me." I tried to loosen her grip on my collar and pacify her anger.

Did I succeed? No!

"TELL ME!" She growled fiercely giving me no air to breathe in.

"I'm coming to that. First leave me and sit down. I'll tell you so please calm the fudge down." This time I used my own authoritative voice as a pure human and her mate and her man which seemed to work.

It took her few inhales and exhales but she succeeded in calming herself down. Putting her on the swing again, I took a safe step back before continuing.

"Like I was saying, I was making my own things against them to keep myself safe. It was already few months from when I started to work for Elias when I went to a town nearby Dublin in search of information I was looking for. That was where I met Christopher Fuller for the first time. In short, after finding out how powerful the union of Northern Plains is, after investigating closely about everyone, I met Fuller there and told him about the whole issue. That was when we both joined hands. But he wasn't the only one I met. I unexpectedly met you for the first time in the same bar we were hanging out."

Veira frowned and zoned out maybe thinking back to when she met me.

"I met you, Veira. You did not meet me."

"What do you mean?"

"In the club, I saw you; a little girl who is a major but didn't look like one, drinking her heart out. Fuller left early and I stayed back to have another drink when I saw you drinking like it is the end of the world that day. You were completely drunk and a couple of men started to feel you up. Even in such intoxicated state, you kicked them so hard that they flew through the room halfway and I understood that you were a werewolf. Seeing you alone, I proceeded to cover you with my jacket before leaving when our skin brushed with each other and I felt the sparks." Her eyes widened and this time she did not hide her reaction at all.

She is being pretty expressive of herself!

"You felt the sparks? No wonder you did. A human mate can feel the sparks despite being a human. That's the only indicator for a human to tell he has a werewolf mate. But why don't I remember you?"

I stood up and walked to her. Kneeling down before her, I took her hand in my own and held it gently.

"You were drunk and unconscious, But I heard a girl's voice in my head who was babbling on and on in a drunken state. At that time I didn't know what and who I heard in my head was Dea, your wolf."

"Dea was equally drunk but I heard her hollering out the word 'mate' for a dozen times before it went completely silent. I didn't know that the young girlish voice I heard was your wolf, but by the study I did on werewolves, I did get that you and I are soul mates. I felt the surge of electricity when I touched you."

"I knew then, that the little girl who got wasted in the club is my mate according to werewolf belief and tradition."

Unbelievable, I know!

Even I did not expect I would have a werewolf soul mate and that the mate of mine would be much younger to me.

A little girl who looked so innocent and carefree!
