Chapter 36
Valeriu Point of Point
She was point on!
She was right!
Letting a third person, not white not black but a gray, handle Elias was a much easier and safe approach. Not only did she ensure the safety of the innocent rogues, not only did she made certain to eliminate the wrong unit from the packs, she also pushed the throne to the kinder and compassionate person all in one hit.
With Elias being frozen by the politics in the royal palace, his beta is useless in handling the crisis that landed upon their army.
Right timing, right move; she took down more than half of Elias's illegitimate army in one go.
Damn, she was hot when was being the embodiment of woman empowerment.
So freaking hot!
The group activities have been pretty much as predicted by the great Lady Lupus. With Fuller implementing the plan by textbook precision, the remaining members of Elias illicit army has started doubting each other.
Now that all that remain are either those who have unreasonably higher ambitions or those who just love being wild and cruel, it doesn't take a small seed of doubt to grow into a large firm tree.
Even Veira herself wasn't spared from being suspected as a betrayer. But as expected and planned by her carefully, they could only suspect her with no evidence found.
I was no exception as well. Luckily, the plans and burner phones I hid in different places weren't discovered and I should be thankful to Veira for this.
If she did not warn me about how such a time would come and I should hide my tails under my pants, the army would've at least discovered the blueprint plans I stored for future use.
When everything here was chaotic and Elias is completely out of connection, even the loud disturbances of the wild animals are peaceful.
Veira, on the other hand, continued to do her duty of being the fake chairperson to my company. Even miles away from the organization, she handled the recent crisis fired by Miller pretty well.
She successfully stomped on Miller's attempts and kept him under intense vigilance.
Guess who is keeping an eye on him?
She made Miller keep an eye on himself by playing tricks. Seriously what can't she do?
The past few days of Elias's army turbulence has given me some spare time to ponder over many issues. A lot of thinking has made me realize a few mistakes that I shouldn't have made.
I realized that there are many situations I could've handled better.
I realized there were few decisions that brought a greater good but I should've still notified the affected people beforehand; in this case, Veira.
She was the one who has been affected badly by my decisions and judgments.
With the thought of being safe myself and making sure of other's safety, I accept I unintentionally hurt Veira.
I know my actions have freed her insecurities wild.
I know my secrets have caged her trust into a small dark corner again.
I know the path I took has hurt the morals she made for herself.
I am her mate; I'm that one person who should be with her through thick and thin in every tide and time.
My love for her isn't impure. My feelings for her aren't forced.
Just like how wine gets better with time, the more I spent time with her, the more I fell for her deeper and deeper and deeper until I understood that my free fall will never end with a ground beneath.
I keep falling and falling; and there is no end to it.
Out of all these, the only thing I do not regret is bringing her to Elias base camp. She is and will be safe here and there is no doubt in it.
Only, I should've done it in a better manner.
She understands my placement, I can see that. But I cannot hope for her to not be hurt by my understandable actions.
Thinking back to everything that has happened, I wonder if Veira will ever be able to forgive me.
I sighed as the already present headache is reincarnated into something very powerful than before. My eyes landed on the beta of the rogue army along with higher ranking officials working under Elias sitting around the table as they are discussing on the current predicament.
Myself included, it is suggested we are to come up with ideas and strategies to take actions against the sudden turn of actions.
They have been voicing out many plans, all leading to killing those who came in their way cruelly. When killing cruelly was mentioned, the wild insane rogues lot has started to wet their lips with a creepy grin and their eyes turned darker by every passing minute.
"You have been silent, human? Is it because you know your kind is inferior to us?" The middle aged man who said this belongs to one of the packs in the Northern plains. He is the only betrayer from the whole union which is very sad considering how proud Fuller was whenever he mentioned about the union.
My lips turned upwards into a calm amused smile. "Comes from an animal which betrayed its own kind. Some pride you have there." I scoffed out, slightly provoking him.
He shot up from his chair causing the chair to fall back on the ground, he pointed his finger at me with his fangs slowly elongating in threat. "You might want to tone it down for your own safety human. If it wasn't for the protection from Majesty, you would be torn into pieces for tonight's dinner by now."
"Same to you." I returned back his warning, in no mood to have a show down with a petty stinking animal.
When my relaxed remark bit him, he took threatening steps towards me, growling and groaning fiercely. Others stood up as well, few stopping him from coming at me and a few encouraging him to take me down.
"Enough, everyone. Stand down." Apparently, that poor excuse of a beta has good influence on them. The room went back from chaotic to silent in a second.
"We are here under the mercy of Majesty Elias, at his service, to support him in his future success. If you want to show each other down and abandon the prime cause of our assembly, then walk out."
Picking up the right time between the silences, I put forth my suggestion. "I say, we continue with the experiment and head on as planned before."
Beta nodded followed by the others except for the animal from before. The discussion started to take shape as it proceeded with fixing the date and targets for the experimentation.
Hopefully, this can get me to where Professor is locked up.
Another long hour of discussion and the assembly dissembled to carry out the next measures of the plan. I, on the other hand, checked all the versions of the drugs made just in case to be assured.
My other drugs and apparatus that I developed against werewolves for my own safety are in place as well. Now that the experimentation is going to take place without Elias's blessings, I should take better chance of this opportunity to locate Professor Acharya.
Once he is found, I will not have anything stopping me from being impulsive with my activities.
"- such a capable werewolf as you." I stopped in my tracks to my room when I heard Veira's distressed voice.
Thanks to the smell masking spray I tried earlier, I wasn't discovered by the nosey werewolf noses. One more step forward, I tried to see who she is talking to at this late night alone.
Who does she find capable?
"Look at you, you are a wolf of great standing; not only are you mocked on by a human, you are also given the task beyond your abilities and who is leading the werewolves now? A human? How humiliating!" From her statement, it must the wolf from before who tried to attack me.
Goodness be my daughter! Why in her Goddess name is she instigating wolves against me?
Don't tell me she hates me so much now that she wants me killed!
"A mere human, what can he do? I will show him his place." I can hear the evil arrogance in his tone.
"A mere human who is still a superior kind on the planet. Now I see why Elias wants to be the ruler of Earth; werewolves should be the one in power rightfully." I heard her heave deeply in a pondering manner.
"What do you mean, Lady Lupus? You mean to say that the human is better than me, us?" Of course!
"Absolutely not! Not when Elias has the same faith on us as him." Veira is clearly putting me in danger.
No, apology is definitely not enough to calm her down. I will have to put my life on her feet to get back together with her; if I was alive by then.
"But to say we are still not on same par with that human in Elias's eyes is disturbing me. I am a rogue, lived my life like a loner but you, you are an esteemed member in werewolf society. You have a lesser standing than a human." She fanned the sparks of fire into huge flames.
"I wonder what can make you greater than him."
Yes, she is preparing for my funeral.
Did I really missed the opportunity to apologize and win her back?
