Chapter 34

Valeriu Point of View

Damnation!

Ho- How the hell did she do that?

No, the first question should be what exactly she did to see a result as such?

My eyes rolled towards Veira who is standing beside me, acting as if she doesn't know what is going on. If not for the very crafty smug glint in her eyes, even I would've fallen for her pretense.

"Majesty Elias is occupied with the court matters in the royal pack and shall not be able to return for a few days. He passed on a message to Dr. Cazacu to continue everything according to the plan."

By the sweat rolling down from the messenger's forehead, it doesn't take a genius to understand that whatever held up Elias is not something favorable to him.

"Didn't he send any message for me?" With the pouty manner Veira asked, the messenger almost downed in the river of discomfort.

"How hurting! He kidnapped me and kept me a prisoner here; I at least deserve a good word of message from him, don't I?" She shook her head pretending disappointment.

"That's alright, though! Just tell him I'm doing well and will do well in future too. Tell him to beat up the bad guys and bring glory to our kingdom." Even though I'm perturbed by the sudden change of events acting against my plan, her words did bring a smile on my lips.

It is as if asking a snake to hold back its poison while biting!

The messenger, reaching next level of discomfort zone, just nodded his head and went on his way to the royal pack.

One more glance at her, I left to know what is really happening here. Something held up Elias from experimenting the drug and taking charge of the planet; it must be something big.

Using my secret burner phone, I called Christopher Fuller once I made sure I'm away from every werewolf hearing. Given, the study is sound proof is a gift.

"Fuller, on the line." I heard from the other side of the call.

"Elias is held up in the royal pack." I said briefly and heard nothing but his breathing for a while.

"I got the news and felt odd as well. I thought nothing can stop him from making his first move in this grand mission of his." The surprise is clear.

Looking out of the glass window, I saw men and women training rigorously right from the early hours of the day. While the older men guided their training schedule, older women provided them with food and other necessities.

They looked content; no wonder they were fooled by Elias with a sweet promise of providing a stable and secured home.

"I sent people to get the information and they will be here by tomorrow afternoon. You said Veira said something weird to you, do you think the she has something to do with it?" I heard him, jerking me back to reality.

"I don't think so, I know she did something. I dare not ask her anything. I kept many secrets from her if I ask anything, she will only slap me back with more mysterious for me to catch up. I can feel the grudge piling up inside her." My strained tone can tell it all.

She is starting to scare me. Her promise of taking valuable revenge from me once the whole issue is clear is still ringing in my ears.

I even shivered whenever I dream of her promise.

"Say, I should've told her everything."

"With my simple knowledge on her, she deals with issues pretty cunningly. You triggered wrong button inside her that she took matters in her own hands. But if you look at the bigger picture, I think it is good."

"Not good when I have to return to the same house as her. Any news on my professor?"

"Nothing. We covered every single track that Elias visited from the past year but the professor is nowhere to be found. It's as though the existence is wiped out." If only the trial went on as planned!

The first human to be tested by the drug would definitely be my professor. Taking my professor under his influence, Elias can utilize his knowledge to create many more dangerous drugs.

"I might be the best doctor in decocting medicines and drugs but my professor's knowledge cannot be compared. I don't even know a cent of what he does. If only the trial experiment went on a planned, we could've tracked down the location of my professor easily."

More than one year, I've been holding this candle for more than one year to find my professor, Professor Acharya. The moment we find, everything can be diffused. Elias can be handled effortlessly if he doesn't have a genius Bio Medical scientist in his hands.

The severity of the battle would've toned down by a far distance.

"I hate to be on the same side a rogue but you have know what Veira is planning so we can act accordingly." I agree, God know how much I agree but it is Veira I'm dealing with.

If it was before, I would've gotten things my way but now, she – scares me with her sudden decisions and words.

"It's for sure, my mate is definitely against Elias; only, - "

"Only, you don't have balls to ask her." Without listening to his next words, I cut the call off in anger.

It was I who played a long game. I started it. Good or bad, I am the reason she is here in Elias base camp. Will she tell me if I ask her anything?

If I need something, I have to barter something of the same worth with her and I still think she will do something impulsive if I tell her about my imprisoned professor.

Impulsive, alright; not at the cost of her life. It took me a great deal of efforts to gain Elias trust which is a shield around Veira and me.

Hours of thinking, contemplating about consequences, I walked to Veira's room with heavy steps. She hasn't been out of her room post lunch so my wild guess is she is up to something again.

I'm still not sure if I should include her in the whole mess but seeing she is doing it all alone, I'm worried she will fall in a trap she laid herself.

I knocked once, thrice and five times before I heard faint answer from her. Going in, I saw her working on a laptop seriously. There are piles of papers on the table, a few on the bed before where she's sitting, a pen is pinned in her hair keeping the bun intact.

In short, she looked homey and cozy.

Closing the door behind me, I walked to where she is sitting as I glanced over all the papers she is working on. As I was doing so, she didn't even raise her eyes and glance at me for once.

"You are working on business proposals and projects of VIBE?" She is doing business for my company in this situation.

"Hmm."

"Wait, where did you get the laptop from?"

"No, first, where did you get the internet from?" I continued to shower her with questions.

She got internet access? Indeed, she is Veira I know.

What can be impossible for her? Although dangerous, the more I'm around her, I more I'm falling for her.

"Laptop from Elias's great second in command/crime puppet." Wow!

"And he gave you? Just like that?" I'm surprised a clever person like him did it.

"I'm Lady Lupus. I can get whatever I want with the title if Elias is not here." Point noted! She is good at taking advantage of many things.

"And internet?"

"Last time I went to your small lab outside, I hacked the system and got a connection for my laptop. Don't worry, I created some specially made codes and firewalls to maintain the privacy of the data." I nodded, seeing her do the office work.

"So what stopped Elias from coming back?" I asked in a flow just in a case she is as distracted to answer a few more questions.

Silly me!

"Nice try." Came from her.

"I thought so." I mumbled to myself.

Minutes went by in silence as she focused on the office work she's doing. Not a glance spared on me.

"I –" Giving it another thought, I continued. "I will tell you everything I know; will you join me?"

"No thanks. I'll do it my way. Who knows if you say the truth or not? I don't trust you." That hurts!

But then, I understand.

"I'll tell you the story from the beginning." I offered again so as to have her on my side.

"I'll find out everything on my own. Don't waste your breath on me. You will need to save it to deal with the problem coming up." And just as those words left her mouth, I heard shouting and screaming commands outside.

People running everywhere getting commands from the head warriors. From the screams and orders passed by them I faintly gathered what is happening suddenly.

"How can four hundred wolves leave the camp without a trace? Go find them and drag them back." What?

Looking back, there it was, another smile on Veira's lips.

"Ah, there it is. Another friendly advice, standing on the pedestal, when asked to justify yourself about the situation, be a foolish guest, not a wise companion."

Hello Sweeties,

Next chapter is here. Enjoy!

What do you think about the chapter? Good?

Veira is a good strategist if she succeeded in holding up Elias at the royal palace. What say?

Your views on Christopher Fuller and Valeriu conversation?

Valeriu is scared of Veira. Justifiable, yes?

Hundreds of warriors are missing without a trace. Is it Veira's doing?

Veira does not trust Valeriu. I think Valeriu has a lot of making up to do.

Please shower me with votes and comments.
