Chapter 13
Veira Point of View
"That was so sly of you." I heard a familiar voice whisper into my ear.
Elder Cazacu and I stood by the side of the reception desk and quietly watched Mr. Valdez being taken away by the police.
A smile snaked on my lips as my eyes met with Valdez's furious ones. But the fury in his eyes beyond measurable when they looked at Mr. Miller, the person who got Valdez there in the first place.
"Why didn't you eliminate him directly, Miss Lupus?" Asked Dan who came to my other side and whispered softly so only I and Elder Cazacu could hear.
Dan's voice held both amazement and puzzlement.
"She is just a little girl who seems to be very humble and introvert. How can she do that?" Why do I get the feeling that Elder Cazacu knows more about me than he let know.
He seems to understand me and my silence pretty well and in some cases, his assumptions are pretty accurate.
Are all scientists like this?
'No, he is our mate so he ought to be special.'
Alright. I understand. I couldn't even talk straight with that wolf who made me wear girlish clothes and made me perform opera but it was seducing Cazacu actually.
It has been a week I dressed up like a doll and embarrassed myself to no end. I couldn't even meet my own eyes in the mirror after I mortified myself in the name of seduction.
I am not doing that again!
"If anything I learnt from my life, then it is to hide your cards well, Dan." I spoke as we saw Valdez shouting, screaming and accusing Miller for doing this to him.
He started revealing all the bad things Miller asked him to do and how much of an a** he is that people didn't even know.
I don't know about others, but when there is an ugly fight going in front of me, I enjoy it. Only when they are utterly bad, though.
I sound cruel now but I really love such scenes!
"So, you tricked Miller into being the hero?" Oh Dan! Why didn't you learn anything from your boss?
I kept silent and let Elder Cazacu explain it to him. "Nah, not a hero but a villain. With the innocent and helpless act she put on, Miller was tricked to be one to take action against his own ally, Valdez. He may seem like a hero to others but to Miller's allies, he is more of a villain that is waiting to swallow them."
"Now, no matter how much Miller proves to be an efficient person, his allies will surely have that seed of doubt sprouting inside them. Do they believe him anymore? Mostly likely they would but not blindly. I, on the other side, ah, it's my time to perform my next scene. Catch up with you two later."
I hurried towards Miller, who by the way, is boiling with unspoken anger. If defeat is a wrinkle, his face is wrapped in them.
I blinked my eyes and soon enough the gates to my dam released and tears started to fall from my eyes. "I'm a failure."
'You are actually.' Wow! I need no enemy from outside. I have one living inside me.
'Thank you. Although you are the reason for it, I appreciate your frequent commentary.'
"What you are speaking, Miss Lupus?" Miller turned to me and put on the fake concern on his face.
"I'm a failure. I am. I – I didn't know my own people. I couldn't handle my own people; of course I'm a loser."
"No, no, no, Miss Lupus. Mr. Valdez was the one who wronged you." He shook his head and sighed great time. If it wasn't for my super hearing, then I wouldn't have caught the two men scoffing at Miller from behind me.
They sure are enjoying themselves.
"Mr. Valdez went the wrong way because I couldn't understand my directors well. I spent no effort and time on you all to know you better and accommodate you all well as your boss. I – I only know a few pointers on running business but when it comes to managing it together, I'm a failure." I continued to look on down on myself and criticize myself.
It always works. This fudging strategy always works.
You play introvert and innocent, you make them fight among themselves and then get the final gain, I've been doing it from the moment I started to take my first breathe.
I lived rogue from my very first day. No family, no guardians, no friends, no one to look after and only I and my wolf who survived the wild and made a living for ourselves.
It was that same tough life that taught me more about human nature. Going all strong and head on with the rival will do you no good. You have to lay low and attack from the shadows.
At least that was what I learnt from all those experiences when I was stubborn and went head on directly with things.
"It's good to have you here, Mr. Miller. An elder who can fill up the gap I lack. If it wasn't for your report, I wouldn't even know that the calm looking Mr. Valdez was such a person. I'm so fortunate to have you in this company."
With that, I nailed the last one and walked away from there emotionally, the fake one mind you, to my office where I knocked my head to a hard muscled chest which is undoubtedly the mate who is the other half of my soul.
Why didn't I smell him here?
Is something wrong with me? With my powers?
'Don't go so far with your puny brain, I masked them so you can take us and fall in his arms.'
'Dea? Why do you keep doing such things?'
I reprimanded my wolf and chuckled sheepishly when Elder Cazacu looked down at me with a mountain of mirth spewing fresh air from his eyes.
"There, there, Miss Lupus, we don't want you falling in someone's arms, do we? Not when that man might be a stranger and a bad one." I looked pointedly at him at his choice of words.
"Oh, I might be the bad one here." I gritted out with a sweet smile.
His amusement is off the charts for me. There is something wrong with everything that's going on.
'Yes, yes, I want to fall in your arms mate. I only want you to be the person to hug us.'
'Aww, how romantic! Did you spare a little time out of your me-time to realize the fact that our mate is human, Dea? A human who knew nothing about mythical beasts like us.'
'Right, he is a human, Veira! How wonderful is that!'
Clearly, her mind is clogged with cosmetics and beauty products.
"That, you are, Veira. A very very bad one." He sang out in enjoyment. "Now let's have a small talk, shall we?" He went on to sit and gestured me to sit before him while he poured me some water to drink.
I took it and drank it in one swing and only then I realized how thirsty I was. "You misused your tears glands, Veira. Next time you are playing something sentimental, manage to find someone else to do the crying for you. Dry eyes are bad for vision."
"You are asking me to find a person to cry on my behalf?" Now that was funny. More because that way he said in a British tone.
"That would do no good before a rival." I snickered at his idea.
"Oh, who cares. You can make Miller shoot his own arm managing to stay out of the whole issue all the time, I'm sure you are capable enough to do that as well. Anyway, that was one hell of a show you staged there. That was planned thoroughly and implemented perfectly."
Well, it was – good to hear a compliment from him.
I cleared my throat in chagrin when I reprimanded myself for thinking so.
'What is wrong with taking a compliment from our mate and enjoying it?'
'You know I'm not really an open person like you, Dea. Isn't it the first time I considered someone a man; no as just another person, not just another creature, but a man.'
'That's because he is our mate and you are starting to accept that fact. But just like how every lotion has an expiry date, the lotion you use all the time to guard your heart is starting to reach its expiration.'
'Hey, by the way, we need to give you a complete makeover now that person who has a right to admire us has come. We should start with getting that damn small facial hair from your face and give it a good clean up. Then get you waxed, prepare –'
'Grrr, I am not doing any of that. Don't you dare bring those bizarre ideas in my head again.'
And there goes her obsession with the beauty hiking to the height of Mount Everest.
"Right. I said I would take care of the rotten side of your board in my time here. I'll do so." I coughed a little getting back to focus my talk with Elder Cazacu.
Surprisingly he spoke nothing or disturbed me when I was having a pep talk with my maniac wolf. He only but waited for my answer with a lopsided grin that seems to be resident on him lips whenever he is with me.
"Ah ha! What your next plan then?" That sounds mischievous!
'To seduce you.'
"To seduce you." Dea, you wicked rotten wolf!
"That seems like a sound plan. Best of luck with that."
And so, just like that, Mother Earth opened her arms and took me several feet inside her thanks to my wolf!
Goodbye everyone, let's meet in my next life when I'm no more competing with the Sun with my red face.
Adieu!

Hello Sweeties,
Next chapter is here. Enjoy!
What do you think about the chapter? Boring?
Veira actually managed to let Miller take the blow and sent Valdez away by Miller's hands.
She also managed to stay away from the whole issue too.
Valeriu might have already fell for Veira for this one, if he hasn't before.
What makes the old Valeriu have such high regards for young Veira?
Is Dea too horny or is Veira too boring?
Your views on Veira's sudden slip on tongue?
Is Valeriu expecting Veira to give him a good episode of seduction?
Will Veira really succeed in seducing in him or will Dea do the deed?
Please shower me with votes and comments.
