Creampuddle

Small paws prod at my belly and I wake up, leaving my peaceful dream. My eyes blink open and I see Swankit pouting at me, with her lip out.

"Mommy, I'm bored!" She whines "Play with me!" I sigh, feeling bad.

"I'm sorry Swankit but mommy is tired. Maybe once I finish sleeping?" She plops down, indicating a "no". "You should sleep too. Please Swankit."

"Fine!" She squeals, turning away from me and inching away from my belly. I close my eyes and once again, beautiful and peaceful sleep comes to me.

Swankit

My mommy probably thinks I'm sleeping. I'm not. I can't. Ever since Brookpaw, Mudpaw and Icepaw left, being in the nursery isn't any fun. All mommy does is sleep while all I wanna do is play. Hmmphh, I'm really bored. I look over at my mommy and back to the entrance. Maybe I can... Maybe I can sneak out. Just for a little while. I don't want daddy to find me! He's leader after all, and I would get in lots of trouble. I'm gonna try it. I carefully move around, making it seem like I'm tossing in my sleep. I sit up and stretch each leg by itself. Tiptoeing, I crawl out of the nursery and into the moist air. Carefully, I step around the little piles of pine needles and breathe in the air. It feels nice to get out of that nursery. Excitement pricks my fur and I creep out if the camp.

Creampuddle

I awaken, not by a kit but by the sun. I've slept all night. Wow. That hasn't happened since Mistbreeze moved out. I yawn and stretch, but then suddenly realizing something. Swankit is gone. Gone. I don't know where she is. I get up and bolt out of the den, very scared and worried.

"Swankit!" I yowl, trying to catch any cats' attention "Tanglestar! Kestrelfeather!" My mate and his deputy rush over, sensing my alarm.

"What is it Creampuddle?" Tanglestar meows, confusion clouding his green eyes

"Swankit..." I whisper "She's gone." Kestrelfeather gasps and immediately turns to his clan members.

"Thistledawn! Poppyspots and Splashstep!" The deputy yowls "Please come over here." The three she-cats hesitantly pad over and nod their heads solemnly while Kestrelfeather explains everything. "I trust you she-cats to go find Swankit. Is that okay?"

"Yes." I quickly respond, leading the "patrol" out of the clan.

Swankit

It starts to sprinkle a bit, the small raindrops chilling me to the bone.
"This was a mistake." I mutter, tears rolling down my face. Why did I ever think this was a good idea? I'm lost and hungry and lonely. Where's my mommy? I don't wanna be here. I just wanna be with my mommy.

The sun slowly sets and I'm still sitting in the middle of the clearing. Tears start rolling out of my eyes as I think about... About... Anything. I'm gonna be stuck here forever!

"Mommy!" I yowl as loud as I can, trying not to let my crying get in the way "Come help me! Please! I'm so sorry mommy!"

Creampuddle

I run faster and faster around the territory with the other she-cats not far behind. Thunder rumbles overhead and I hope Swankit isn't too scared. I hear whimpers and sobbing noises from a small patch of grass. I snap my head toward the others and we bolt right over.

Sure enough, my fluffy little Swankit is right there.

"Swankit!" I cry out

"Mommy!" She squeals "You found me!" I run over to here and lick her head

"Of course sweetie." I purr "Let's go back. Badger-ride?" Swankit nods her head, full of excitement and forgetting about the tears. I skip back to the camp while Poppyspots, Thistledawn and Splashstep giggle and skip with me.

Swankit

After a very fun ride back to the camp, I realize what's gonna happen. I curl my tiny claws into my mommy's fluffy fur in protest but she just shakes me off. My daddy walks over to me.

"Swankit." He meows "I admire your curiosity and sense of adventure but please, please, never scare us like that again. You're not old enough to be going off on your own." I smile and nod my head

"Of course daddy."
