Chapter 22 - Sabers take their leave

Lucy's POV

It was a week before the Autumn Ball and I was hanging out with Sting at the mall. (That rhymed!) Why was I with him? Because I thought I would help him out with Erza. I could tell him things about her, like what she likes, so he can buy her a present. Also, I thought that Sting and I would be great friends.

"Ne, Lucy-chan, what are we doing here?" Sting asked me.

I sweat dropped. "I just explained it to you. You should buy Erza a gift to give her at the Autumn Ball. She loves gifts."

"Ohhhh, yeah. Maybe some pink and white roses. I bet Erza will love those."

I couldn't help but laugh a bit. "I guess you don't know her that well, but I can help you with that. Number one, she doesn't like pink and white roses."

"What? But don't all girls like them?"

"Not Erza."

"What about red roses?"

"She just doesn't really like roses but any other flower is fine."

"Wow. Well, that's weird. What else does she like?"

"You'll never guess but she likes jewellery. Anything shiny and sparkly she likes. She used to do taekwondo and she likes sword fighting. Also, the most important... she loves strawberry cheesecake."

Sting looked a little bit surprised but tried to hide it and nodded.

"Okay, let's go to this jewellery shop" he declared, before walking into a random jewellery shop.

"Um, Sting, Erza hates that shop" I said.

We both sweat dropped and Sting walked back out of the shop. Wordlessly, we walked through the mall and to Erza's favourite jewellery shop. Sting didn't know a lot about Erza but that was alright; I would help him out. We finally got to the jewellery store.

"This is Erza's favourite jewellery shop. Keep that in mind" I instructed.

"Yes ma'am" Sting saluted teasingly.

"Let's go!" I pulled his arm and we walked through the shop.

We split up and looked for things that would be a good present for Sting to give to Erza as an 'I love you' gift. I was searching through the bracelet section when I felt something being dumped over my head. I looked down and found a necklace sitting around my neck. Turning around, I saw a smirking Sting, who must've put the necklace on me.

"I think it looks good. Don't you agreed?" he raised an eyebrow.

I faced a mirror and it actually did look good. It was a silver necklace with a flower charm and it was the most beautiful thing ever. The flower looked as if it was blooming and I could imagine it clearly, with a bit of pink in the centre.

"I think you should buy it" Sting broke me out of my thoughts.

"Are you sure? It's expensive" I checked the price tag. "It's more than I can afford. Plus, I'm paying for lunch."

"Nonsense! I'll pay for the necklace and lunch. After all, that's what a gentleman does" he winked.

I turned around so Sting couldn't see my red cheeks. He really knew how to flirt and get a girl but I already have my boyfriend who I wouldn't trade for any other boy. I took a breath, let it out and turned back around.

"It's alright. I won't buy it" I told him.

Sting smiled cheekily. "Well, while you were putting your back to me, I bought you that necklace."

He handed me the exact same design necklace, except the price tag was off and he showed me the receipt.

"How? That was fast."

"Well, I'm fast" he shrugged.

"Thank you Sting!" I hugged him.

Sting froze before melting into my embrace. Then I put away the unbought necklace and put my new necklace around my neck. We went back to looking for something for Erza but this time, we didn't split up. When we got to the hairclip section, I was in heaven. I found a really nice pink flower hairclip and I immediately tried it on. I looked in the mirror and I fell in love with the hairclip. Realising I couldn't buy it, I sighed and put it back.

"What's with the sad look?" Sting asked.

"I can't buy the hairclip that I really want" I whined.

"Okay, I'll buy it for you."

"NO! It's okay, really. I don't mind."

"Seriously Lucy, I can buy it for you."

"No. I won't let you buy something else for me. Let's just go for lunch now!"

Sting's POV

So far, the day had been going really good. Actually, scrap that, it's not going good. I haven't got anything for Erza but I got something for Lucy. Lucy is actually really nice and funny. Plus, I think she's really pretty and whenever I'm near her, my tummy goes funny. I thought I didn't have a crush on her but I don't know anymore. We had lunch at the food court and I paid for it all even though Lucy wouldn't let me.

"-You should also take Erza to do something sporty 'cause she likes sporty stuff" Lucy continued rambling about Erza.

I frowned. I didn't want to hear about Erza; I wanted to hear about Lucy.

"What about you? Where would you like to go on a date?" I asked.

Lucy bit hear lip in thought, making me want to kiss her.

"Hmm... I would want to go there!" she pointed at a place called Timezone.

"You want to go to Timezone?"

"Yep."

"Then let's go" I pulled her with me to the arcade.

To be honest, I've never been to an arcade before and I was pretty nervous. It was very crowded and it was so loud that I felt like I was in a club.

"You haven't been to an arcade before, have you?" Lucy questioned.

I embarrassingly nodded and Lucy just kindly smiled.

"It's okay, I'll explain. You just play the arcade games and win tickets. Then you trade in you tickets for prizes."

"That sounds like fun!"

So we ran around the place playing all the arcade games and they were really awesome. I hadn't had this fun since ages.

"I can't believe you haven't been to an arcade before! You really haven't lived" Lucy laughed.

Sigh, her laugh was so angelic and her voice was so smooth. We had won many tickets (and when I say many, I mean hundreds) and now we were playing the car game against each other. We sat in our own little "car" and had our hands on the steering wheel, bumping each other in the screen.

"If I win, I get to take you to dinner tonight" I said before I could stop myself.

"Fine, but if I win... you have to wear a dress for a day" Lucy grinned mischievously.

"Deal."

As we raced, I overtook Lucy but then I bumped into a wall so Lucy overtook me. The finish line was up a head so I pressed the boost button and... I won!

"Ha! Take that! You'll be going to dinner with me" I jumped up in sweet victory.

Lucy just smiled. "And you are paying, right?"

"Uh. . . . I guess so" I sighed. Why did I have to say what I said? Oh well, I couldn't wait to go out with Lucy.

"Remember that it's not a date, since I have a boyfriend and you have Erza" she reminded me. But I don't want Erza!

After that, we went and exchanged our tickets for prizes. Lucy got a big rainbow slinky and I got a big teddy bear. Why? Because it looked like Lucy and I wanted something to remember this day.

"Where do you want to go for dinner?" I asked Lucy.

"I don't mind" she shrugged as we walked through the mall, holding our prizes. "Oh! Did you get something for Erza?"

"Yeah" I lied.

So we went to a restaurant for dinner and I never got a present for Erza but a present for Lucy instead. I realised as the day ended, that I really liked Lucy more and even if she had a boyfriend, I was going to try to win her over.

*Present Time After Autumn Ball* (still Sting's POV)

It was the first day of the holidays and our term at Fairy Tail High was over so Rogue, Yukino and Minerva were hanging at 8island with some people from Fairy Tail. The people from Fairy Tail were Lucy, Natsu, Gray and Erza. After Natsu punching me, I've accepted that he is Lucy's boyfriend, but that doesn't stop me from flirting with her. Surprisingly, Erza had changed Minerva while at Fairy Tail and they've become close friends. Minerva is now not as mean and she cares more for her friends.

"I'm going to miss you Lucy-san" Yukino cried as she hugged Lucy.

"Uh, you're kind of squishing me" Lucy struggled to breathe.

"Gomen!" Yukino apologised and let her go.

Everyone was saying bye to everyone and I couldn't stand the sadness. People were literally crying waterfalls.

"Stop making it sound like we won't see each other again. We'll visit sometimes and we'll meet up in the holidays" I told them.

"Yeah! That's a great idea!" Natsu pumped his fist in the air.

As everyone chatted about going to the Magnolia Amusement Park, I sat down next to Erza.

"So, how are you?" I asked her awkwardly.

"I'm fine" she replied.

"I'm sorry-"

"You don't have anything to be sorry for, Sting. I guess things didn't turn out well between us and I'm sorry about you and Lucy."

"It's okay, maybe I wasn't meant for Lucy either and I just haven't found the right girl yet."

"Well, I ship you with Minerva" Erza evilly grinned.

"What?! Milady? No way would I like her" I denied.

"Sure sure."

"Anyway, I hope you and Jellal get back together. You're a match made in heaven."

"Thanks. I'm going to miss you, Sting. You've been a great friend" Erza hugged me.

"I'll miss you too. Don't miss me too much though" I winked.

Rogue, Yukino, Minerva and I stood up, getting ready to leave. "See ya" we all waved.

"Good bye!" Fairy Tail High students waved back.

It was sad leaving Fairy Tail High after just one term. Hopefully, we can now change Sabertooth to become a better school like Fairy Tail. We walked away and looking back, I saw the four "fairies" still waving with happy smiles on their faces. Just their smiles made me happy. We had fun at the Autumn Ball and at a different high school for a change but like all good things, they had to come to an end.

Good bye Fairy Tail High!

Voila! That was just a short chapter for Lucy and Sting. Two more chapters left since I feel like this story is not really going anywhere except for the end! This probably wasn't one of my best stories but I hope you enjoyed this fanfic and if you did, please VOTE and COMMENT!!! Thank you for reading this! I feel like crying now  :)
